Almost 7 years ago, I bought an ES6 used from a music store, and it happened to have the DX card installed; I don't think they were aware! I never got a real DX7, but it's cool to have what I think is the next best thing. Great playing, Thiago - you make those EP patches sound great!
That's called a gift from God!! You likely deserved it. Here I like the ES rack so much, I bought another one when I stumbled on a pristine one still in the factory box with a never opened manual... (I have a PLG-DX card too in my CS6X that I could move over). And yes, great playing Thiago!
It`s just a relaxation for the ears....Man, you rocks the hearts... About keys. The DX7 sounds more authentic, smooth and pleasant rather PLG I think. However, PLG sounds with a more highs.
OMG Thiago I'm just marveling at the smoothness, sensible touch and sparkling chord embellishments you apply in your playing! You truly make those DX-inspired patches sing! Oh please could you post here a link (or Dropbox some) MIDI sequence in which you realtime do all those patch change commands and playing improvisation? Like, that way I'd enjoy replicating your style of playing myself (I'm working hard to make my poor hands get better piano flow, just as you have. I'd be quite grateful. Kind regards, my friend.
I love dx sounds, on the plg150, and the dx7s. The fm tines, the gs, and the Eps are so incredible still in these years. Even though they were used back in 80s and 90s, still the sounds still come great. I miss the dx7 :,,,,,(
Thank you for a good demo. I also have the PLG150-DX installed in a ES7 and it's just fantastic. Nice to hear how true (or even better) to the original it actually is.
This sounds incredible! I also have a plg150dx inside a motif, but it does not have this many DX piano presets in one bank.. is there a way to get them somehow somewhere?
¿serie? Gracias Hi, congratulations for the video, I would like to ask you for an opinion for around the same price would you advise me to buy a PLG 150 DX to insert into my motif or would you advise me to buy an original Yamaha DX first or second series? Thank you
HI, THIAGO GOMEZ. ARE THOSE SOUNDS ORIGINAL IN THAT KEYBOARD🤔?? VERY BEATIFUL SOUNDS AND VERY BEATIFUL HOW YOU PLAY THAT KEYBOARD..GOD BLESS YOU, MY BROTHER..
Great comparison. Can you do a similar test, maybe shorter, comparing the onboard DX sounds on the ES with the DX7II? With a bit of tweaking I'm sure that the onboard sounds will be pretty close or would you disagree? Thanks again. Ian
Eu tenho o módulo YAMAHA MOTIF RACK ES com a placa PLG150DX e quero obter esses sons
The DX7II sounds a little darker the the Motif, mostly likely due to the converters being better on the Motif. For most of the sounds I preferred the Motif version, although there were a few that I preferred on the original. By the way, great playing.
Hi Thiago, please could you tell me are those PLG voices actually factory presets, or you managed to import sysex patches from your DX7 to Motif for exact comparation? Thanks!
Thiago, thanks! Good demo, nice improvisations! I had PLG150-DX on Motif Rack ES, there was some hiss noise especialy on basses FM piano when sounds fade out (on PLG sound only). Do you have this problem on your Motif?
Alexander Kolpakov If you're talking about "Aliasing"...yes, that's typical for Yamaha FM synthesizers. My YS100 (4-operator-FM synth) has that problem as well.
Verrrrrry interesting, Thiago. The DX7 has a bit more bass and feels more "stereo"...but perhaps that is a side effect of the increased perception of bass. Of maybe it's that the ES has more top-end?
I think being able to use Motif ES6 effects with the DX7 improves it big time......the DX7IIFD has no effects.....I have a Motif ES6 and a DX7IIFD and a TX802 but I don't have the PLG DX7 board.....can you store and load DX7 user banks through the Motif ES USB from the PLG board? My floppy for my DX7IIFD will load but no longer saves so I'm switching it to USB.....I already did that on my Korg Triton rack......I had another DX7IIFD before this one and neither one has aftertouch and they're supposed to.....it must have be a problem with the board......the DX7IIFD I have now has the Grey Matter E expansion (my first one didn't).......when the DX7IIFD was first released I almost bought one but was really glad I held out for the SY77 instead.....
Hi! Please could you tell me do I need to have two DX boards in my S90ES to get sounds like DX7IIFD (I think because DX7IIFD had two DX7 engines, right?)? Thank you!
Thanks. ruclips.net/video/uwHNqgPWLWQ/видео.html
In terms of sound quality and flexibility - do you think the Kronos (with MOD-7) is capable of similar patches? Technically (esp. editing) it should be miles ahead..(?)
Yoan Kallee Hi. All these patches are included as presets. The secret here is to choose the "Fulltines" patch and go to Edit mode and changing the preset that was used for that patch. I did it by following the preset list in the board's manual. Thx for watching
Hi brother, is there any way to download all of those patches which you played, esp. EPs and that lead was cool as well. I have got one coll. from you but here you played some more Eps, I have SY99 anyway so it should work. Thanks
Akihabara. ch Hi. You re right. But I need to repeat this test because there are a difference between velocity range from MOTIF (1-127) and DX7 (1-100). However, the MOTIF has a option in the PLG menu that has a "DX7" velocity range, limiting the maximum value to 100.
Thiago Gomes I don't think the DX7II have the 1-100 limitation. The original had. But there might be a difference on the velocity on the keybed itself.
The DX7IIFD definitely has 1-100 velocity where the Motif has 1 - 127......key velocity that is 1- 127 didn't come out until later keyboards.....I think the Yamaha SY77 (which came out right after the DX7IIFD) has key velocity of 1-127.....I used to have an SY77 but now I use a TG77 for those sounds....when I compare the DX7 in an SY77 with the DX7IIFD, it sounds way better......the DX7IIFD has that DX7 "flavor" in every sound.....the SY77's DX7 sounds like samples and it also has effects.....the SY77 DX7 is improved as well.....one improvement is 45 algorithms vs. 32 in the DX7IIFD.....I think the SY77 DX7 also has more than one feedback loop available at once and you can set waves like the TX81Z could......it also is capable of RCM which is having the sampled sounds in the SY77 interact with the DX7.....most people (including me) don't explore the possibilites of RCM but I guess it brings a lot to the table.....I still have my old DX100 and a TX81Z too (4 operators on both)....because of the TX81Z's advanced features, many people viewed it as almost having 5 operator sound even though it only has 4......the TX81Z is the rack version of the DX11......the DX11 looked almost like the DX7IIFD......
..the brilliance, one needs to cut thru today's commercial mastering everyone's used to now, especially the youth, whom yes, don't know any better, yet that's the target demo, so when Bieber says he likes producers who make tracks that sound 'expensive', this brilliance of hi-fidelity comes in handy. but depends on your goal. you want bedroom studio nostalgia for personal use? or you want instant brilliant sheen to cut thru the mass competition?
Those electric pianos are romantic FM magic.
Best video on youtube. DX sound never die.
Love all the sounds that Yamaha has improved into its keyboards , but essentially is up to the player like Tiago you rock buddy ..! Keep it up
Just got my motif es 7, I cant sleep

I'm come back to 80's music creation. Very Nice tones. Thanks for sharing.
BEAUTY AND THE BEAST THANK YOU SO SO MUCH
Listening to your fingers glide so beautifully across the keys makes me feel guilty for owning a dx7 II FD ... Your playing is heavenly... sigh
Thank you for a good demo. I also have the PLG150-DX installed in a ES7 and it's just fantastic. Nice to hear how true (or even better) to the original it actually is.
Miss this era in time and After All bought back a lot of memories.
Me too. Takes me back to my childhood days in the 1990's
Thank you very much for very good test. I have two pieces PLG150-DX in my S90ES and in dual mode stereo 2x16 it is fantastic!
Hi Milan I have a S90ES also! What's the difference between using one plg150-dx compared to 2 plg150-dx ?
@@brandonwattz2924 double polyphony basically
I always love your playing.
Wonderful playing. Always wanted this board when I still had my Motif ES7.
suuuuuper smooth. Love this. I have MOTIF ES and I'm hunting around for a PLG150-DX....
Hell yes! I heard some Al Jarreau
Dá gosto de ouvir esses EP's!!! Top demais!!!
Thiago Gomes Top man!
4:45 ~amazing layer sound !! (#^.^#)
que timbre é aquele aos 5:02? Ainda acho a retirada desses sliders na linha MOX/MOXF uma perda imensa! kkk
The 2020s are going to be THE TIME for electric pianos..in a parallel universe....we are still getting over Kenny G remember
This sounds incredible!
I also have a plg150dx inside a motif, but it does not have this many DX piano presets in one bank.. is there a way to get them somehow somewhere?
Your play so musical and sweet.
WONDERFUL. COULD YOU DO A MIDI FILE OF YOUR BEAUTIFUL PLAYING
yes MIDI

I had PLG150-DX on Motif Rack ES, there was some hiss noise especialy on basses FM piano when sounds fade out (on PLG sound only). Do you have this problem on your Motif?
Hi Alex. Good observation. I have noticed this hiss noise on the PLG sound too!
Thiago Gomes Hi Thiago, as I read somewhere this noise is normal for FM synthesis method and original Yamaha DX7 have this noise too?
Alexander Kolpakov If you're talking about "Aliasing"...yes, that's typical for Yamaha FM synthesizers. My YS100 (4-operator-FM synth) has that problem as well.
A1 demo, very versatile my man!!!
Amigo tudo bem
Verrrrrry interesting, Thiago. The DX7 has a bit more bass and feels more "stereo"...but perhaps that is a side effect of the increased perception of bass. Of maybe it's that the ES has more top-end?
Can that board be installed in a motif rack?
There were two PLG DX7 boards....one was a PLG100-DX and the other was a PLG150-DX....do you know the difference between them?
What's the name of voice that you play on 6:12 All at Once song...thank in advance
I want PLG150-dx !
This guy is amazing

Hi! Please could you tell me do I need to have two DX boards in my S90ES to get sounds like DX7IIFD (I think because DX7IIFD had two DX7 engines, right?)? Thank you!
Brother, bela demo.
Thanks.

can i use PLG150-DX on my yamaha MO8 ?
Hello Thiago! How do I get the extra DX7 Fulltines presets that your using? My card didn’t come with the Manual ?
Hi Thiago, I have a motif rack es expanded with a PLG-150 DX. Is it possible to have these patches?! would really appreciate..Thanks
Yoan Kallee Hi. All these patches are included as presets. The secret here is to choose the "Fulltines" patch and go to Edit mode and changing the preset that was used for that patch. I did it by following the preset list in the board's manual. Thx for watching
Oki got it...thanks a lot for your help, am a fan of DX Rhodes. Cheers bro :)
Thiago Gomes hai sir, can u please explain what u meant in detail if don't mind, thanks, I've been fans of you, nice skills right there's
Very close!!, nice video
Bro....
Luis Lopez Yamaha PLG-AP. Yamaha PLG-PF
you really are something else...
Very nice sound from 4,45
David Foster lover!
Sound the same to me, any difference is probably due to how hard the sound is played.
Song at 4:30????
awsome. good playing
Hi. To get theses pianos you need to install a modular expansion board: PLG-150-DX. thanks for watching.
Can you share those beautiful sound with me I got the card not the sounds, please and thank you 😊
Forgot to mention I got a Yamaha S90es
DX sounds warmer.☺
awesome!
MX49 brings all those sounds
ja tive uma maravilha dessa saudades
How did you install that hardware?
Theres a port on the back - unscrew - slide in and connect - 2 minute job and motif will recognize on start up
Truly amazing!
Is there any way to get those presets on a real DX7? SYSEX or something? please :)
muito bem..belos sons fm
awsome

the plg has too much brilliance, i like the dull oldschool dx7 :)
