Roger blew it staying on the tour past his exp. date. IMO it wasn't even worth taking his last 3 Majors. He never got to "rest on his laurels." Emerson was on top for 30 yrs. Sampras only got 8.5 yrs B4 Roger overtook his 14 at '09 Wimbl. getting to 15. His legend would have ext. into the future w/ "what ifs." Going out in 3rd place w/ 20 is no disgrace, but it's still behind Nadovic's 22 & 24 respectively. ;-)

So in 2007 Wimbledon final when for the first time he had a fight on his hands, he demanded the Umpire to switch off the Hawking Machine because he couldn't bear close line calls favouring Nadal. In 2009 US open when again he was on the verge of defeat, he went ballistic at the Umpire and berated him with some of the most unc0uth remarks and got penalised. In 2011 US open, he described Novak's blinding return as a fluke shot. It is only frequent defeats which reformed him to an extent. But like you cannot straighten a **** tail, his bad manners will be best exemplified with the way he approaches the net to handshake after a match with a cold demeanour and stone face after defeat not even sporting a bare smile.
