@DrDecks, I just demo'd our rotted deck. Some joists appeared to be mounted to the inside of a stucco'd column! * A few minutes at our RBD website gave me the original plans -- I could see that (if they followed the plan), yes, the joist hangers were mounted on a 6x6 post inside a 12x12 column ;) * Rather than cut off the joist a few inches away, I used the whole-joist leverage to yank them out. Worked great (particularly because looking at other hangers, I knew they were... shall we say "minimally" attached LOL. * Now I just have minor cleanup, and can use proper LUC210Z's to mount the new joists...
Pull/cut the first or second board at the house then pry away from the house with your DEMO-DEK....... then no need for the silly deck wrecker thing lol. We threw ours away years ago.
Love the vids, Doc. In this instance, though - if you’re going to post a video about demolishing - you can’t just not wear safety glasses while using a chainsaw. Everything else was good though - thanks!
Hard hat and safety glasses are needed here. All those nails sticking out and all that walking under the deck. Trust me, it sucks to be walking and take a nail to the head, or worse, the eye.
About to demo my deck this weekend. Worried because there's two ledger boards and it's really old. Thanks for the video

9:58, flip all those boards so the nails face down! That way if you ever fall while pulling on that deck wrecker, you don't get tickets to tetanusFest
Thank you
ABC at the end. Thanks for the best videos
Great tips!!!
Hey, thank you for doing a video like this
Good video, I appreciate the eyes. "Always be careful".... safety goggles marked safe in the truck the whole video.... ;). haha

Where is part 2 when you get those joists off the house?
I’m in that 16.3% whoop-whoop
(Watching and following for years and always forget to like the RUclips vids) (sorry doc)

Too much talking!

I like your videos. I wish they were more condensed. It is the only reason why I haven’t subscribed.
