This game REALLY feels like two bots fighting each other. Neither one seems to actually respond to what the other player is doing. The mustangs needed anti Air tech ages ago. Once the air support is killed, the balls are doomed to the melters.
I disagree with your view of linking the balls. Once he put link on them, they were helping each other survive. Remember link also increase HP. By the time, blue had melting points, those balls were so high level, they were eating through the melting points. Red was winning till blue got the Wraiths and put degen on them. Certainly expected, but not sure how red should have countered them. Maybe a few melting point with range himself just behind the steel balls to take out the wraiths.
HP increase doesn't matter when you have a fully charged Melting Point (or worse multiple) locked onto your balls. Linking them doesn't help either it is way too much DPS. The only reason the balls worked for so long is that blue struggled to win the chaff battle and with that the Melting Points couldn't lock onto the balls before they could lock onto them. That paired with the counter-productive Multi-Melter was the real problem. So yeah basically what Stoney had described.

I agree with you. Big linked balls are tough to crack, even with melter. He could've gone photon boats and seal the deal
