Hi, I have a genuine question for the experts out there. Why does the Colour Party/Flag party not carry rifles? I was in the British Army and was involved in many ceremonies in my career: US, Canada, Australia and France and all the Colour party members carried rifles «to protect the colours ». Just a question ! I love your Channel. The Troops are very smart and I live the music. We played many of your marches in the British Army including Prussia’s Glory. Thank you. I still don’t get the hate the Bundeswehr gets online. Their uniforms are modern sharp/stylish, love that grey and white! And their march style is contemporary and professional, goose stepping is too goofy and 20th century, only authoritarian states use it anyways nowadays. And also you can see they clearly do carry on Prussian traditions.
They can’t even complain about goose stepping. Only the Nazis goose stepped often. Prussian doctrine says goose stepping is only for heavy infantry, outside of heavy infantry soldiers perform a walking March. American military doctrine is Prussian, that is why we March like that.

Deswegen hätte ich jetzt gedacht, das müssten wenigstens symbolisch ein paar mehr sein. 🙂

@@Toni_Schallenmuller The Luftwaffe was recreated in 1955 and like the Heer and the Marine is part of the Bundeswehr wich is the name of the German armed forces as a whole. Before that the German armed forces were called Wehrmacht. So the Wehrmacht got renamed to Bundeswehr.
I see Gloria being performed all the time. It looks to be the 'go to' march for the German military. I don't think the Brits or Americans have such a piece.
It's the standard entry march of the staff music corps mostly performing the state visits in Berlin. In times of holliday you will hear the music corps from Siegburg allways playing the march of Königgrätz (ruclips.net/video/iIMDXkzXKjQ/видео.html) while entering the szene. The army music corps from Hannover uses Prussia's Glory for exiting the scene.
@@chamo2240 The only time I've heard that played, not in a movie or cartoon, is with the US Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps. If I had to pick the two top marches played by the military here. It would be 'stars and stripes forever' and 'the national emblem'. But they're not de rigueur for a military event.

actually they didn't entirely ditched the goose step, but the reason why they didn't used it on a much larger scale is because the Bundeswehr considered themselves to be a ''light infantry'', and light infantry were prohibited to perform the goose step
Ok but all it would take to bring back the goose step is a decision from the same people that prohibited it. Or are they afraid of being called fascists ? I would say LOL if this wasn't so sad!
Except for some spectators, nobody in the troop wants to have the goose step. Especially not the guard battalion. I talked to the last commanders about it.
