I was born here, and my parents ran the Regency cafe in the late 50s and early 60s., my bedroom overlooked the station. I can remember well, the " gate-man" manually closing crossing gates
Thanks - really interesting. One more charming station in a lovely location. Wikipedia says that Westgate has a population of around 7000; the Stagecoach (was East Kent) main route 8 from Margate to Canterbury calls there twice an hour, so I'm a bit surprised the trains are only hourly. There doesn't seem to be a way of doubling back to Margate to get the Javelin. However, the 'slow' Victoria service is in fact fast from Rochester, so that's not too bad! Another enjoyable video - look forward to your next one
Thats a nice looking station, I live at the opposite side of the train map so dont get out that way much but its nice to see a seaside station like this that has retained some nice features.
I did Dumpton Park a couple of years ago for my top ten least used Kent series. The dog track is no longer there, it is a housing estate now. ruclips.net/video/HrC3rKOKhqc/видео.htmlsi=k1OUR3NrMCdtduAx

It certainly is a charming station in a great setting, and with most original features intact. Thank you for watching
Worked at this station in 1975 - 1976
Great video as usual, when you get to Dumpton Park, let me know if the dog track is still there!
Used to use this line many times in the past!
