Nick Sirianni has NO CHANCE to remain Philadelphia Eagles head coach | Colin Cowherd NFL
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 4 окт 2024
- Colin Cowherd is joined by Danny Parkins to discuss Nick Sirianni being on the hot seat as head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles, as Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley, and company are 2-2 on the season so far. Colin & Danny also talk about which coaches they love in the NFL and how schematic coaches like Andy Reid of the Kansas City Chiefs are better than locker room coaches like Dan Campbell of the Detroit Lions.

As an eagles fan... he should've been gone since last season... It is insane that Jeffrey and Howie accepted him back...
On a related note, does Howie get to stick around after this season? Do you trust him to make another coaching hire?
Part of it is that it sends a terrible message to prospective coaches if you fire them after they go to a superbowl 1 season, then go 11-6 the next
Eagles are my second team after living there for twenty years... My best friends are Eagles fans with season tickets. My conversations with them on the topic underscored how difficult it would have been for them to can Sirianni in such a short tenure even though he got the team to "The Dance" quickly. The optics say that Philadelphia has a GM that has to much power, so firing Sirianni without giving him another season would be a bad look and make it difficult for coaches to want that job after him and Doug went to the dance, but got canned.
In Howie's defense, that fanbase is so knowledgeable and religous about Football that they don't tolerate downturns well at all.
Exactly, it's not nick's fault that he's unqualified. It's all Luries fault for hiring him
@@samuelwallace2782 playing politics is the reason they are in this situation in the first place. If they are worried about that then they shouldn’t have never let Doug go…
1. Name Sirianni in the title.
2. Talk about every coach except Sirianni.
Sounds about right.
You didn't watch the podcast 😂
@@puppethoundtook them 10 minutes to get there.
I’ve never understood the Sirianni hire in the first place. Philly is a tremendously well run organization with a track record to prove it. There’s just no way Sirianni had so good an interview to make everyone believe he could be the answer.
I live in Philly - the outside perception is not reality.
Howie Roseman leaks to national media over local media to get good national coverage.
The Eagles owner is Jerry Jones- he just doesn’t have weekly press conferences. His son runs the Eagles analytics department with his buddies from Harvard.
Doug Pederson was fed up meeting with Jeff Lurie to justify the game plan every week.
They hire coaches with no experience to make them puppets. Then they make them the fall guy.

Nick was hired bc he could be controlled by Howie Roseman & Jeffrey Lurie. This is the organization swaying away from Chip Kelly & to an extent Doug who both tried to gain more power in personnel and staff decisions.
I really think that the organization knew that this guy wasn't all there, and were gun shy when it came to bringing in a high profile coach who would need some degree of control over the operations that the Eagles' brass just weren't ready to give. They already had a power struggle with Doug Pederson before he was fired, and before him they had that debacle with Chip Kelly, who Lurie gave authority to basically put Howie in a back office and break up the Lesean McCoy/Jeremy Maclin/Desean Jackson nucleus of what was already a potent offense. Once Lurie knew that was a mistake, I think they vowed never to give up that type of control again.
There was absolutely no reason to fire Doug Pederson after that SB, and all he wanted was control over his staff, and they fired him. Now, here we are and Sirianni is working hard to being an impediment to the overall success of the team now, despite Hurt's troubles at the moment. Now, it's only four games so we'll see what happens the rest of the way, but as an Eagles fan, I have my doubts.
He took y’all to the Super Bowl sheeesh
I think Sirianni can be cringey but Hurts has to take responsibility of his own game play.
I am willing to wait until hurts gets his main WRs back and then give Moore and them some games . If they can correct then see . Especially against Washington and Dallas.
Hurts is an average qb. Without all the talent around him he turns into his true self.
@@biozio186when?!
Every QB is avg when they have no talent around them
@@leehemmersbach8018 He only has 4 Td's but he has 4 Int's. He also has 2 fumbles & 13 sacks.
We get rid of Andy Reid and then proceed to hire a string of guys that worked for Andy Reid. Maybe firing Andy was dumb!
Andy was cooked in Philly
you can say the same thing with Pete Carroll in Seattle
Hiring Chip really f’d up Lurie and Howie going outside the trust tree.
Not drafting Patrick Mahomes was dumb. Andy Reid has 0 rings without Mahomes.
@Idlewyld Bill has none without Brady. It's not like Andy didn't win in Philly.
Sirianni is so unlikeable. Wasn't there a game he was taunting fans in the stands.
Yes, he is immature and taunted fans after a win when they were on their way to 10-1 last season. Jerk, yes. Head coach in the NFL, no.
Yes, against Andy and the Chiefs. Philly has been in a tailspin mostly since that game.
Yeah, it's strange for a head coach to curse at fans after a victory.
Of course Andy is at a point where he ambles off the field at the same pace, win or lose.
I wish they would’ve gotten rid of him last year that collapse was horrendous
5:30 I always get annoyed when people act like dan campbell is just this rah rah guy. 2021 week 10 lions are 0-10 dan campbell essentially fires his OC and takes over play calling that was the moment Goff turned into the goff we know today and the 0-10 lions finished 3-3-1. Dan campbell played in the nfl for nearly 10 years and worked with sean payton for 5 and you think he doesn't know his X's and O's? when ben johnson leaves the offense is going to look literally the exact same because campbell is a huge part of the offensive identity. lazy takes lol
Yeah. Same with Mike Tomlin. I think Dan Campbell and Mike Tomlin are good coaches in all aspects of the game. They're not just rah-rah guys. They're also smart guys (situational guys, X's and O's guys, etc.).
Colin watches highlights and talks
@@EclecticPerson 100%
To talk about how much the eagles spend on offense and then say they’re underachieving when they’re missing those players they pay a lot aren’t playing is laughable
YEAH HE'S TALKING LIKE AJ BROWN, DEVONTA SMITH, LANE JOHNSON AND BECTON AREN'T INJURED🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤬🤬🤬🤬
JUST WAIT UNTIL THEY ALL COMEBACK😳😳
When you spend all your money ey on stars you have less for backups when they get hurt it's a roster error and eagles are reaping the results
Go back and look at how Nick was behaving on the sideline in the Super Bowl and Jalen having to calm him down. That kind of thing is why Jalen doesn’t respect Nick. Now Jalen needs to fix his own issues as well, but Nick is a chaotic mess and he’s the opposite of buttoned up.
I dunno Adam Gase press conference with him all bugged eyed with the Jets will always be legendary....
This guy is not as cool as Nick Wright - and not nearly as loud as other comments guys, thankfully- or telegenic as Mark Sanchez, but he’s smart, knows his stuff and throws stuff back at Colin that challenges him and which he clearly responds to. Glad to see him getting more traction on a national level.
Who said Nick wright was cool tho ? Lol.. I like this guy he get straight to the point
calling nick wright cool should put you on the short bus

A WR POSITION COACH..LEARNING on the job to be a HEAD COACH..and a 3rd round grades RPO QB learning to be a FRANCHISE QB! that's on MANAGEMENT DEPT. UPSTAIRS
Jalen isn’t the problem bro
Last season Colin said Brock Purdy would be out of the league in 3 years because he wore his hat backwards to 1 press conference. He also said Jalen Hurts was going to be great for a long time because he wore his hat forward. How’s that working out for you Colin?
@@floatpool8307I mean to be fair, both Purdy and hurts choked in the big game so there's that. They are both 0-1 in the big game.

If you had really done your homework, you'd know that the Lions offense doesn't belong to Ben Johnson alone and won't leave with him if he takes a coaching job. Details matter. This offense was built before Johnson was the OC, when Campbell fired Anthony Lynn, assumed play-calling duties while taking all responsibility, and started feeding a rookie Amon-Ra St. Brown 10 targets a game. This thing is very much a collaborative effort between Campbell, Johnson and most importantly - Jared Gof, and one of the things that Campbell always does is pass praise along to others and reject it for himself. Leadership out of this world, but make no mistake about his "schematic mind". It's hilarious and won't age well how so many members of the national media have such a simplistic and nuance-free perception of the Lions, and especially Campbell, despite the team's continued trajectory upward.
I think Campbell is 10x the coach Siriani is, not taking anything away from him. The Eagles saw a massive regression in the offense once Steichen went to the Colts. I think if Johnson leaves, it will definitely impact the offense negatively. Maybe not as much as Steichen leaving Philly, but there is a reason everyone wants Johnson right now. Praying they can Siriani and hire Johnson.
All these media guys love shannahan cause he's a dweeb and nerd like them. The dude blew a super bowl in Atlanta with an all time top 20 QB and has blown super bowls with the most loaded, veteran team in the league.
I’m tired of people constantly praising Kyle Shanahan. I don’t get why you’d compare him to Dan Campbell, who’s only in his third year as a head coach. Veteran coaches, despite their ups and downs, are more experienced. Shanahan, despite all the praise, has never won a Super Bowl and always finds a way to lose in the playoffs.
I like your point of media over rating those coach press conferences.
Chiefs fan. I really liked the Eagles the year we beat them in the Super Bowl. They looked like a perennial NFC champ. That changed for me last year when Sirianni taunted Chiefs fans after the game. That’s an immature and classless act for a HC. If he gets fired, he brought it on himself.
I agree
Howie is and has always been a problem.
Howie is the league’s worst DEI hire
It's shocking after nicks behavior that the eagles still have him as a Hc. He doesn't share the front offices values. He is a chronically ineffective coach. A team doesn't give up for a coach, they fight for him. The eagles gave up in so many games. Keeping sirianni when a proven sb caoch is available is incompetent.
Purdy is not a HOF QB, but he is a very solid QB, processes well, anticipates well, has good athleticism, good accuracy, has some degree of hard-nosed toughness, is a good leader and is a willing student for Shanahan. That all adds up to success. In other words, he’s what a QB SHOULD be. But somewhere along the line, the NFL got caught up in measureables and in trying to get the super-athletic QB. They even created a stat, QBR, which factors running ability in as a prominent factor. It’s the old ‘have your cake and eat it too’ syndrome.
The name of this podcast should be "I Didn't Stick to What I Believed"
Meanwhile, Danny Parkins just gained a follower for telling Colin, "Nah. Media makes too much of press conference minutiae."
Beautiful points in regards to Kyle Shannon 👏🏽👏🏽
If we had a better head coach we’d have another Super Bowl by now and this season would be looking up instead of gloomy at this point
I hate to hate on someone but that snippet from 2 szns ago of sirianni staring down the camera and nodding on the sideline has made me irrationally vehement in my distaste for him. Just cringe cockiness which never really panned out besides maybe a game or 2 after that.
That besides he coaches for the eagles
Why did Bellicheck “turn angry” AFTER winning? 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Danny is a great addition to the podcast, but please, get him a mic.
The team is a Saquon catch away from 3-1 and AJ Brown hasn't played since week 1. How about looking at Howie Roseman for whiffing on the defensive end and LB position in the offseason?
I am absolutely uninterested in a revisionist take on a head coaches introductory press conference after the man went to a superbowl...what world are we living in where media commentators are completely unhinged in their attempt to make themselves right? This is craziness
I imagine that they hoped that he would grow into a John Harbaugh type of coach. It has just become apparent that he lacks the skills and maturity for that type of role. Your strengths need to be culture building, relationships, media management, staff building, ego management, game management, communication, etc. Hard to say he has been adequate in any of these areas, and many have proven to be weaknesses. Harbaugh has been barely adequate at game management, but he has been above average to excellent in the other areas.
I’m really starting to like this Danny Parkins cat, his takes get straight to the point and he challenges Colin a bit.
I GOT IT !!!! DANNY PARKINS looks like a harry Connick jr!!!!
more like Ernest P. Worrell to me...
HEY! SIRIANNI! SEE YA!
Fire Howie Roseman
Analytics Jeffrey and sons needs to fire Nick He's not creative he's not innovative He's not overachiever remember Big Red Andy Reed he was all that now he got a great quarterback dynasty going facts

Co host killed this clip ...🔥🔥🔥
Siriani's Press conference had no press. It was covid... He had to talk to a camera, not a person.
Shanahan? He has the most talented team of any team in the NFL and has for the past 3-4 seasons. And how many big game leads has he coughed up? Overachiever is not the term I would use.
Did you watch Jimmy Garropolo on the Raiders? Shanahan took that guy to the Superbowl. With the most talented team ...that was built BY Shanahan
@@jamesbohm3690 For all the criticism that Garropolo takes, you are right, Shanahan AND Garropolo took them to the Super Bowl. He executed what Kyle told him to do, including calling odd plays that turned a lead into a loss.
And he did that with Purdy too.
And Matt Ryan.
And what you say might make more sense if Garropolo was the only weapon you had on offense and defense, which he was not.
You had Deebo, Kyle J, Kittle, Bourne was a monster then, Coleman, Breida, and a stacked defensive line including Bosa, who had an amazing year.
It only got better after that in terms of lineup.
The Rams and McVay won with one outstanding defensive lineman, and one outstanding QB.
So I don't see the "overachieving" angle at all.
Never understood how Danny Parkins in continually shown on media.
Womp womp
I would bet that you do not understand a lot of things.
ok
Agreed. He belongs at a college radio station.
Just because bro is not a looker doesn’t mean he can’t talk sports lol
Sirianni is a Joke !!
Everyone knows that by now
Kyle Shanahan is a great coach he's been to the playoffs 4 times in the last 5 years and went 2-1 each time. He's come close to winning the Super Bowl several times it's just a matter of time before he crosses the goalline and gets that ring.
Please @colincowherd mention that Nick Siriani's first Press Conference WASN'T A PRESS CONFERENENCE... WITH NO PRESS! It was COVID... Siriani was talking to NO ONE. That is not his or any Coaches skill set.
Andy Reid was a deer in the headlights at his first presser as I clearly recalled. He’ll go down as one of the top coaches ever. Your first press conference theory is baloney.
Collin repeats repeats repeats about over and over again.
How many times are you going to talk about the “opening presser”
Your repeat messages get old. Your guest is a breath of fresh air.
Colin trying to manipulate the situation to get Belichick to Philadelphia. You aren’t slick Colin.
Great take!
Fredo Sirriani!
Ain’t no way his opening press conference was worse than Adam Gase’s with the Jets…
I forgot about Adam gases LOL
Parkins knows as much as football as I do about rocket science.
They’re still doubting Purdy. Amazing.
I'll take a hat backward over dreds locks but colin too sacred to say that
Watching highlights the other day and all the sudden I could picture "Montana" on the back of Purdy's jersey. I'm a Lions fan but still really liked Montana when he played. Do you think I'm crazy or do they play similarly? Thanks. (You get to play the Lions twice this year)
Hurts is victim to OC changes every year. The OC’s themselves were TERRIBLE ANYWAY and last couple years we had been running high school offenses.
This year we have another new OC. I think the offense is going to get better but at the same time patience is required because this OC and the offense is very different than what Jalen has been accustomed to. Moore will be good enough to get us winning if *SIRIANNI CAN KEEP HIS DANG HANDS OFF THIS OFFENSE*
Edit: Jalen thrived w a good OC we had a few years ago. (See Steichen).
Not sure id include KS trading away 3 1st round picks and doing well that year as a positive
As long as Howie is there, he will be there
Jeff Garcia had his best year in SF not in Philly.
Does BB go to the eagles or cowboys?? Someone getting fired here soon
Coaches are hired to get fired. Everyone has an expiration date. Just like players.
Not in Pittsburgh.
People acting like the eagles better than the cowboys when the cowboys way worse on paper roster wise lol nobody is saying mike McCarthy should be fired lmaooooo everyone saying sirianni should be fired 💀
Nick’s original press conference is exactly how the eagles play under him SOFT!
Colin gives trevor lawrence such a pass. Today he said that he would take lawrence over mayfield due to lawrence’s coach and oc. Then he said that he would take baker over hurts due to hurts only playing well under steichen. 🤪
It's Harbaugh at 2nd. Definitively.
Yah this proves Shane Steichen should of been the coach cause it’s obvious he made Jalen more successful
I actually liked Nick's first press conference, it wasn't that bad,...I truly think that a lot of the people who slammed it never actually watched it and just got their opinions from the talking heads,...that being said, Nick is nothing more than a cheerleader, I would have fired him this bye week and replaced him with Kellen Moore.
Firing Sirianni and keeping Roseman is not going to do it.
Give Chip another chance
Lol😂😂😂
It's funny how people want to talk about Jalen playing bad and he has played awful. Key is Jalen and the rest of the team have played awful when Nick has say in playing calling. The times the entire team plays like crappy is when Nick has to much involvement. It's just time for the Organization to move on from Nick.
What is nick siriannis coaching record?
I think were overreacting to a loss that was missing eagles 3 of its best 4 offensive players
Didnt Colin think Sirianni would be a losing head coach because he stammered once during his first press conference?
Say what you want about sirianni but he didn’t make that stupid decision to take the ball in overtime during the superbowl, then in the presser admitted he didn’t know the rules. Sirianni is far from a bad coach
3RD ROUND GRADED QB doesn't help either😢
Man that Kyle Shanahan response 🔥 mic 🎤 drop
1000% agreed
Man Philly has been dreadful for the last 8+ games. This isn’t something new. It just seems like Siriani, McCarthy, and Daboll will ALL be fired before or at the end of the season. This chatter is all great news for the Commanders.
Commanders have the real deal ,Pathetic Arizona Cardinals couldn't recognize a diamond in their hand Cardinal atrocious talent character evaluating Arizona likely stuck in basement for very long time not sure Monty and Gannon can overcome ownership meddling.
Stop disrespecting coach Tomlin, wtf is this
Never should of gotten rid of the offensive coordinator from the Superbowl appearance against the chiefs. Hurts is a running qb and game manager not the best passer not very accurate and turns the ball over way to much. We have no backup QB so hurts needs to step it up or move on.
I would’ve gotten rid of Nick after he was flipping off the opposing team and jalen made him put his hand down

Because colin is a flip flopper and also criticized dan cambell said he would fail because of his press conference and now talk about how good he is as a coach when he starts losing he'll say i told you so
Anyone know what the comment Pickett made?
Don’t get me wrong , I am not overly excited about Nick at this point but Damn… You would think the man didn’t coach in a SB and didn’t make the playoffs almost every season during his tenure 🤔 . Btw The Eagles are 2-2 Lmao . Has the season finished yet ??? You would think we are 0-4 . Let’s see what happens after the Bye 🤷🏽♂️
