- Silver maple leaves and the silver Britannias are two of the best coins to buy and the stacking community agrees. In this video I’m going over the pros and cons of both to see who comes out on top.

So I was watching a video on UK Stacking- Britannias make a ton more sense for them to stack! Generic silver they have to pay VAT and I believe a "capital gains tax" when they go to sell them.
I recently started picking up Britannias after completing my first full Maple tube.
We do all of the above yet coins are cools bars are cool to.

So yes in the uk we have VAT on silver unlike gold although on royal minted coins ( not bars ) gold and silver is capitals gains tax free which when we come to sell with hopefully profit we keeps all the money

The Spanish Toro gold coin (Spanish Mint) has a design like the Britanna where the security feature changes 3 times when you tilt it. Really cool

Maple leaf is my favorite. But how I buy is. I get what is on sale. Try to get my coins under 2 dollars over spot. My local store had kangaroos for 1.99 a spot. I loaded up on that. Maple leafs was 2.49 over spot couple weeks ago. I got half a tube. And 2024 Britannias was 1.99 over spot couple weeks ago on jm bullion. I belong to a coin club and they have really good silent auction and the treasury is my silver guy. He charges me 1.50 over spot. Any size bars.
$1.50 over spot is great!
I have both in my stack. They are both beautiful coins. You just can't beat anti milking and 4, 9's. Maple leafs are my favorites.
Maples are an excellent choice
I stack mostly maples, as far as coinage, but I did spring for two 10oz Britannias and they are gorgeous.
Both of the bars are stunning. Just like the coins you can’t go wrong
Geez, I have no problem with the monarchs on the back of the Canadian or Perth Mint coins. I made sure I got both versions but Elizabeth's my gal!
Wish they would of just kept the young version of her with the crown
@@StatesideStash If you were able to get the coins made every year she was queen you would see that she ages on the coins as the years go by. Get a coin from, say, 1959 and she looks like a very young girl.

Definitely my two favourite government minted coin designs. I love this specific topic, and I'm glad to hear your input on them. As a Canadian stacker, I obviously have a bias for the Maples. Secondarily I stack Britannia's. :) I would probably stack more stuff from the USA, but my eyes find the commonwealth coins much prettier. ;)
Maple leafs are beautiful and I do enjoy the Britannias. I only use to stack ASEs till the premiums got outrageous
@@StatesideStash totally don't blame ya. I'd stack ASEs if maples here had the same crazy premiums. :) I'd honestly like an AGE, but our silly laws would do sales tax on them I believe. Oh well.

If the Britania had milk spot protection, I would choose the Britania mainly because of the overall look. I like the figure over the maple leaf and the security features of the Britania are cool. I have both.
I have both also but definitely have more maples
I just picked up one of the Britannia and Liberty coins and they are very nice.

Being Canadian, it was easier to stack Maples. In fact, my first silver purchase was converting silver certificates that my parents left me into Maples. All of my sovereign mint bars are also from the RCM. Having said that, I wish I’d purchased a few of the Britannia bars just to have the variety since they have an amazing design. As for Britannia coins, I have a tube of 1oz and one 10oz coin.

Yeah, it’s definitely got better defined details. I’ve also got a couple of 10 oz maples. The reason I even considered the 10 oz coins was just variety. The premiums at the time weren’t much higher than bars or rounds and I had been stacking hard for 2 years so I was looking for something a little different

I’m in the UK, so Britannia for me as it is exempt from CGT when sold. I like the 2024 collaboration Britannia by the US and Royal Mint which features Lady Liberty and Lady Britannia.
Those are very cool coins! I have yet to pick any up

The libertad is my favorite!
If I could only choose one I’d choose the maple cause I’m Canadian and I love the mint shield. But luckily I can own both and I do!

Just to confirm another posters point Britannias are captial gains tax free, VAT is paid on it. Gold legal tender is CGT free and VAT free. So selling wise Britannia coins . The other coins l believe are treated as bullion coins so taxes apply.

Maples are so much nicer looking. But i love that the Britannias have more security features. But im choosing Maples every day. And im from the UK. Maples are one of my favs!
They are both incredible coins but agreed I’m gonna have to go with the maples
I’ve gotten 2024 Brittanias that have massive milk spots on them, if they could fix that I would stack mostly Brit’s but I won’t buy them anymore because of that, maples are the safest way to go, even new eagles spot, I’d say about 25% of my new silver eagles have milk spots right out of the box, sucks .
I have noticed that with the new eagles as well which is unfortunate
I prefer the reverse on the Britannia but with their milkspotting issues and the fact both have monarchs on them, I would probably pass on both unless I could get them for a really good price. Three of my ancestors didn't fight in 1775 for me to buy rounds with kings and queens on them.

I'd take the Bars (RCM and RM) over those 2 coins any day. The Britannias milkspot but cool design. The main reason is I do not want Monarchs on my metals... God bless America!

@@StatesideStash No Monarchs, I gave them away for birthday presents :) Only rounds are Zombucks. Coins ASEs and Libertads and 90%.
I get not wanting monarchs on your coins but I kind of like it. Makes it feel historic. I have old coins with queen Victoria, king Edward VII, king George V, King George VI, queen Elizabeth II and now King Charles. I think that’s pretty cool.
Maples always win these debates, but I'm a loyal stacker of $2 and under premium Britannias.

I get a bit confused with the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank coin produced by Scottsdale Mint. They have the queen's face on them. Are numismatic or semi numismatic or just generic rounds? I have all 3, maples, Britannia, and the island coins.

I like them both, but being Canadian I’d have to go with the Maple. The monarchy situation isn’t the best, but you can’t have it all sometimes.

Weird i just ordered one of each. Maple is 100x better. My brit came with terrible milkspots was actually a bit pissed about it when it arrived and the place just brushed it off like it was normal.
This has been the common trend I’ve been hearing from people is how bad the milk spots are

They’re the only other silver coins I collect, love the European look, and how they’re isn’t the face of a leader on either side, I also like how it’s unique without having ridges on the end.
You’re not gonna like my opinion on the philharmonic 😬 I do like the unique part that it has no reeded edge though

@@StatesideStash look at the different designs from 1998-2011, the Britannia changes many times. The maple, not so much.

Looked like all the other Brits in design so I figured it was the standard like the eagle, maple, Noah’ ark, etc. Then I found a ‘99 with Britannia driving a chariot. Research had to be done. Another thing is they were .958 until 2012 - Britannia silver.
I'm going to stick with ASEs because 'Merica. But if I had to choose, it would be the Maple Leaf. "That other guy on YT." 2 is 1?

@@StatesideStash I'm on the fence. I just started stacking in January, so all I have is 2024, i.e. type 2's. I like the type 1's but it's purely a matter of price for me.
