@ShortCircuit, starting to think that you need a motto that describes the purpose of this channel at the top of your description box. People seem to think that this is a review channel, which if I recall, it was never intended to be. More like " I got a cool tech thing I want to show off and explore with you! "
EVERY reviewer I watched said it's aluminum, including MKBHD and he got a lot of flak for that too. I think the specs they got say it's aluminum. www.gsmarena.com/oneplus_nord-10289.php The specs that read the front/back glass also always include the body material, but it isn't there. So I guess no one knows what material it is and they just went on the provided info or just the feel of the phone, if it felt plastic-y I think Linus would've mentioned that.
Ye, I really hate when they can do that, a type C should port must implement all the supported features. They put a type C port and put the standard 4 USB 2.0 wires. Gets kind of misleading.
Most type C for phones is USB 2.0. USB 3 requires way more wires, and is quite a bit more expensive to make and requires more space, there's near no point of doing so for 99% of users. Can't remember the last time I had a case where I cared about the data transfer speed. That said, LTT made a mistake stating it to be USB 3.1 Gen 1.
@@Masterrunescapeer could be useful for 1080p 60fps wired display use cases, to and fro. Or even 4k60fps content playback over usb ( which IMO, should be supported natively in smartphones now a days), viewing VR/HDR content via USB etc. The specification tells max Possible numbers with all the wires, and OEM implement just 4 wires, drastically reducing it's capabilities. It misleads.
@@Masterrunescapeer it takes 9 pins for USB 3, -- 5 extra pins compared to standard USB 2.0 pins, all 5 wires in a cable could be kept thin 24g/26g, as only needed for data xfer, it doesn't cost as much to put 5 extra wires.
@@harshivpatel6238 what does cost more is the internal hardware and USB controller needed to support usb 3. You're right in that the cable itself could be made relatively cheaply(cable still also requires *some* additional hardware for USB 3), but the internals on the phone would still need a spec bump, raising the cost.
Don't give up on the Headphone Jack! As an audio professional, it's clearly something that is just makes sense to have as an option. The benefits of having it outweigh the costs. Sony and LG are the only two who seem to understand this.
Right? I don t understand what makes people think that 400 is cheap for a phone. Like, ok, you have to forget about getting a good camera, sure. But it s not like cheaper, great options don t exist. For real, If you don t care about the camera, some companies have been selling phones with the same specs as the Nord for half the price for years.
@@troghlem352 I have bought two of my phones refurbished, both LG, both have been great. If I hadn't dropped my V35+ I still would be using it. Expandable storage, water resistance, headphone port, really great camera app for a pretty alright camera, high res display, and they're all amazingly cheap refurbished, because apparently people don't like LG?
I gotta say, after I actually started using bluetooth earphones, especially true wireless, I didn't know what was I was missing. I mean for most people, even actual sound enthusiast like me, what matters more is convenience and comfort. You can't really get better than something like galaxy buds, it sits in ear really well and doesn't get loose. You can use it for sports as there's no cable, there's no tangling or yanking of the cable, even bluetooth buds that has the neck band had these problems, just to lesser degree. Not to mention true wireless gets better battery time due to case.
Once you put the thing in a protective case you don't notice the metal look plastic side rails. I bought this as a private phone alongside my work issue S21 and it does everything I need and does it very well. Excellent screen, superb Android implementation and plenty of storage for music (256GB). I am not a gamer and am not bothered about wireless charger. My only criticism is the lack of a headphone jack. For most people this is all the phone they need and it's sensibly priced.
When I bought my previous phone that was still flagship price, it's getting quite insane. Phones are "budget" at the same prices that budget friendly laptops reside on...
The 400 euro includes sales tax (VAT) probably, which translates to 400 USD without sales tax (which is how US prices are shown I think?). So depending on if you include sales tax in your list, it would actually fall into your "doesn't exist" category.
Lol non Indian plebs(jk). We have had 150 dollars phones with these level specs for years now. Just flash pixel experience and you got a pixel 3a but with more battery and a glass back body

According to your LG reviews from years ago you had already announced the headphone jack had sailed. Yet I have high-end headphones connected either via a Bluetooth DAC(not Bluetooth headset) or direct via headphone jack if I am using my LG V30. It surprises me that reviews of PC systems that barely anybody will buy gets praise even with more users jumping ship to console but with phones you so easily dismiss headphone jacks just on the basis of worldwide sales. There are manufacturers who design for enthusiasts in all technologies and do not just jump ship at the sign of their nearest competitor doing the same. Quick side comment from Germany here about the price conversion from dollars to euros: In Germany prices in euros are really high if you compare them to the dollar prices. For example an iPhone 11 Pro costs 999$ I think which would be around 850€ but in germany it starts at 1150€ (1350$). You can see that with other phones as well. Hey! The video quality seems to be taking a hit here @ShortCircuit. I love your oratory skills but there are a few problems here. 1. You made two errors in the spec sheet listing - UFS 3.1 and also stated that it has an aluminium frame (when it is actually plastic with metallic paint). You also compared Snapdragon 765G to flagship processors repeatedly, which kind of puts it in too far a negative light, given the hefty price tag of the flagship processors. Lastly, you could have mentioned that 765G is a higher clocked combination of both its processor and the GPU. Always looking forward to your content though!

Just throwing it out there, to those that might want to know, the One Plus Nord does NOT have an aluminium frame. It is indeed plastic on the edges. The back is glass though
@ShortCircuit, starting to think that you need a motto that describes the purpose of this channel at the top of your description box. People seem to think that this is a review channel, which if I recall, it was never intended to be. More like " I got a cool tech thing I want to show off and explore with you! "
Why you guys are saying a metallic or aluminum frame, when it is plastic?!
Possibly because OnePlus nailed the feeling
EVERY reviewer I watched said it's aluminum, including MKBHD and he got a lot of flak for that too. I think the specs they got say it's aluminum. www.gsmarena.com/oneplus_nord-10289.php The specs that read the front/back glass also always include the body material, but it isn't there.
So I guess no one knows what material it is and they just went on the provided info or just the feel of the phone, if it felt plastic-y I think Linus would've mentioned that.
Its definitely plastic, if it was metal we would have seen antenna bands
@Nicholas Estrada nope, glass backs also have them
@Nicholas Estrada The Note 10 Lite has them and it has a plastic back (or "glasstic", per Samsung's bullshit)

4:47 I think Linus misspoke, cause the video clearly says it's a *maco* camera

@@TristynRusselo yeah it's sarcasm. I know it's a typo and *macro* is the right word. Just thought it'd be funnier this way ^-^
It's type C, but internal hardware is 2.0
You need to correct that
Ye, I really hate when they can do that, a type C should port must implement all the supported features.
Or even 4k60fps content playback over usb ( which IMO, should be supported natively in smartphones now a days),
viewing VR/HDR content via USB etc.

Maco Camera - my favourite
Don't give up on the Headphone Jack! As an audio professional, it's clearly something that is just makes sense to have as an option. The benefits of having it outweigh the costs. Sony and LG are the only two who seem to understand this.
Sony is in the audio business I think and lg stopped making phones
Bluetooth all the way here!
"Budget phone"
Like $200?
Linus: $470
Oh...
Got it for like $250 refurbished and my current G8 for $350. People call them mediocre phones, but they have everything I want. Expandable storage, water resistance, headphone port, really great camera app for a pretty alright camera, high res display, and they're all amazingly cheap refurbished, because apparently people don't like LG?
Indeed. 400€ is not in the budget category. 100-200€ is more of the budget range and Xiaomi makes some great phones in that pricerange.
I'll get me a ~ $ 200 phone, even has a headphone jack and a free OS on it.
For me budget is 120
I gotta say, after I actually started using bluetooth earphones, especially true wireless, I didn't know what was I was missing.
4:48 - Maco Camera? Probably a typo

Considering inflation.
The 400 euro includes sales tax (VAT) probably, which translates to 400 USD without sales tax (which is how US prices are shown I think?). So depending on if you include sales tax in your list, it would actually fall into your "doesn't exist" category.

If they're using such good plastic that it feels like metal, then the plastic is better. It's more shock absorbant and doesn't block the antennas.

You also compared Snapdragon 765G to flagship processors repeatedly, which kind of puts it in too far a negative light, given the hefty price tag of the flagship processors.
