Cool cool... I tend to use the second method you mentioned at the end, but a little differently. instead of snapping the head to the grid (which can move it and resize it in some cases) I use L1+triangle on the head to use *its* grid. Then I just make the grid coarse (big gaps), make a new sculpt, and stamp down a cube in the rough middle and it will use the centre line of the head easily. And so use the same centre-line for the mirror of the new sculpt. :D
Well this method is specially useful for sculptures you’ve already started, but that’s something nice you mention there, I didn’t know you actually liked sculpting 😆
