I have nothing but good things to say about Wenatchee. It’s a great place. The people are so friendly for the most part. Sure there are super religious folks but everyone is very accepting. Seattle needs to take notes
I've been living in this area for almost twenty years. We have a "diverse" population in that we have about a 60/40 +/- split of Whites to Latinos. I remember when I saw the first Black person I'd seen in this area. I was all, 'hot diggity dog; we're finally diversifying for real.'
Going of 2010 census info the town is 77% white. Hispanics are the next largest group. Blacks are less than .5%. The purpose of the video series was just to hear what they had to say.

In the 80s the racism in Wenatchee was very prevalent. I’m a white guy and the other white folk were very comfortable sharing their thoughts about other races with me. I also saw one particularly appalling treatment of a black student at the high school in the locker rooms. I’m extremely happy to hear this guy talk about how easy it is for him to live there.
I have lived in Wenatchee on and off for many years back when there may have been only one black family in the area. I think the area is more about people just being people. There are always going to be jerks or karens wanting to create drama. I would like to think that Wenatchee is well rounded and American and patriotic I would be far more worried about Seattle politics ruining what we have in the rest of the state.

I've been visiting Wenatchee and Leavenworth for at least 5 years. I am a black man with an Asian wife. From hotels, restaurants, shops even talking with a real estate agent (just curious), we never felt any issues. No place is without problems and if you look hard enough you will find a willing idiot. It's nice for Wenatchee to try and be inclusive, but if I chose to move someplace, I don't think it's necessary for the locals to do anything special outside of treating everyone with respect and be genuine in interactions.
I think that is all we can ask for. It was very interesting for me to do these interviews. Statistically blacks make up such a small minority so it is hard to really know how they feel. Living in Wenatchee I personally have thought it to be a very accepting community for everyone which I really like about it. There doesn't seem to be tension in the city.
@@BenHoltenFilms I had a heavily mustached coworker that looked like a modern day Viking. I was told he was the biggest racist and his personality didn't change my mind.
