Is this something you do or did until recently?
Yes. Thanks for pointing that out.
Oh yeah !! Thanx!
Yes, I ashamedly admit that I do it. But I think As I get more comfortable talking to and looking at the lens I hope to not do it as much. 💜😎💜

Solid advice. Here are a few more. Imagine a friend behind the lens. Don't think of an intimidating audience; instead, visualize having a conversation with someone you know and like. This helps make your delivery natural and engaging. Slow down and enunciate. Nervousness can make you speak fast. Consciously slow your pace and speak clearly for better viewer understanding.
...pro tip. Draw a 😊 on a sticky note and place it near the lens. This simple hack helps remind you where to look and creates the illusion of eye contact. Also helps with positive vibs :) that the audience will catch.
Dont film beside a busy road ????
Always great content. PS., I’m still using your LUT, in fact it’s the only LUT I use. It’s great for my DJI Pocket footage, but I also use it on my Nikon mirrorless and GoPro. Worth 5X (or more) the price! :)
Thanks, Michael. That's great! 😊
Thank you for this tip. i've been making this exact mistake on my live-streams for years
It's probably in my top three pet peeves that I notice other RUclipsrs do that makes me hate them.😂
Great tip, using action cameras I turn off the front screen, knowing that with such a wide angle I’m usually in frame. I find it’s the movement I see on the screen distracts my eye
So many RUclipsrs do this. Even very experienced ones. Thank you very much for making this video. I wish more people saw this and would heed this advice.
Interesting observation. As I am shy and don't see myself as very photogenic, I was going to completely avoid "looking at the camera."
I always feel my eyes drawn to the screen, annoying 👀
good and simple point. You're absolutely right. Now that you are saying it, I did the same mistake. Thank you for the tip
I have more than 10 years of experience in video editing and production, I have spoken at major events and even teach cinema. But I'm trying to record in front of cameras to produce content and I realize that I'm becoming an extremely serious and sad person. In public or in lectures I don't have this difficulty communicating. Do you have any tips regarding this topic?
I'm delighted to have found the channel. Congratulations and keep bringing us the great tips. Thanks
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I, too, have been guilty of this from time to time. It’s much more when people are filming on the iPhones.
Totally understand that. It’s so easy to do when filming on a phone as it feels more natural to look at the screen than that tiny dot.
Absolutely guilty. Thank you for the reminder !!
@Tamara I believe that is the natural instinct. But it is a practice, like you said, will make it harder to connect with your audience. I still do it sometimes. I have to remind myself all of the time. One thing I used to do (but it depends on how you are framing your shot) is move the camera farther away and zoom in. If it's a vlog style with a lot of closeup shots like your videos or you're working with a camera like the Pocket 3, you may not have that option.
All in all, practice is how I got better. You do very well with staying locked in.
Huh. You've been watching my videos where I keep talking to the screen, not the lens. I've been caught! In future I will turn one eye to the lens and the other to the screen. Would that work? :)
Tamara you are absolutely beautiful. My goodness! Keep up the great work too✌🏿
This is one of the reasons I love My Canon V10, you can look at the screen but it seems like your looking at the lens with the vertical tilt up screen....
This is why Casey Neistat wears sunglasses. He looks at himself on the viewer. But wants you to think he’s looking into the lens
100% correct!!! I noticed myself doing it also....ugh! spot on!
I find myself doing it more with the iPhone content....because with the DJI Osmo...I'm looking directly at the camera lens.
Im under a 100subs, i noticed this early and is always trying to correct it.
I see RUclipsrs with 50k subscribers still doing this. They seem to be more interested in themselves than the people they’re talking to.
That is why Casey Niestat wears sunglasses.
@@The_Essential_LightTrue.
Oh heck yes. This is why, with the Osmo 3, I do not record in selfie mode
love your channel. just recently discovered your videos. i was curious how you get the background blur in your headshots with the osmo action ?
Thanks! I used the Osmo Pocket 3 in this video. It naturally produces background blur due to its sensor and wide aperture.
Jolly good idea, never thought of that.
Reality check for sure.
I just think camera was invented because of your beauty, sorry, not sure how you do it , but its like nothing Ive ever seen, my point is , you are fabulous at what you do 💯💯💯😇
😇
New subscriber here and this is a great reminder for new-ish creators like myself! 🙌🏿
Welcome! 😊
I am pretty conscious of that… that’s one reason I like to use the main lens on my iPhone so I’m not staring at myself the whole time. I do notice it in other folks videos.
Using the rear camera as a deterrent is a good idea!
...OP3...taped the screen...😂
Hey! I actually started to close my flipy screen in order to get used to looking into the lens;) Nice video. Cheers!
That's a good idea, no temptation 🙌🏾
@@TamaraGabrielUK Exactly ;)
On point, excellent tip.
🖐🏾Been there and does that.
Hey, Tamara, quick unrelated question for you. I saw your webcam video where you were able to get 1440p footage out of the Osmo Action 4. Can you tell me how?
Everywhere I look, it says you can only get 1080p out of it when you use it through OBS.
Hey 👋🏾 It was quite a while ago now so I can’t remember the exact settings, but I would have been using OBS and set it up in there.
@@TamaraGabrielUK
Ok, thanks, I'll try to figure it out.
Can you remember if you had it connected to a Cam link, or did you just plug it directly into your PC with no Cam link?
I just had it connected directly into my computer via USB-C. Send me a DM on instagram and when I get a minute I'll send you a screenshot of my OBS settings.
🙌🏾good content
totally agree! hard to do when you don't have confidence in filming yourself!..........😏😏good video!
so many people also raise their chins in piece to cameras.... what's up with that?
I can't say I've noticed that 👀
good pointer. I've been trying to just get the framing right, then flip the screen away. That way I don't get caught slipping up and glancing, especially when only one of us is talking.
👍🏾
Thanks for the reminder. It's a little bit different for me: it's not that I'm looking on the screen but, when talking, I'm looking all around trying to figure out what I'm saying especially when not talking to the camera in my mother tongue. Anyway, the result is the same: I don't often look at the lens and have constantly to remind me to do it. Hope that with the time I'll train myself to actually look at the lens and not all around.
BIG FACTS 💯❤️
😮
Exactly
Guilty!
Great tip, and so obvious once you think about it. Thank you, loving your stuff so far!
I find it hard especially with the pocket 2and 3, but I agree it is super important.
I'm an English teacher in Spain, and I think this concept also applies to giving online lessons or presentations. As always great content.
Having had media training through work this was drummed into us, I hate the channels that use the deliberate looking elsewhere shot too, so distracting, eye contact is essential👍
99%? Sorry...
👏🏿 another great video, short and to the point. Now all I need to do, is start a channel and implement these tips 😁. Thanks for the lessons, peace, and blessings.✊🏿

Short, sweet and correct! 🙂
