If you want to judge her vocals hear "CRIME AND PUNISHMENT", that song is the best to hear her voice... as that is the main focus, with very simple music.

Ado is such a gem. And she has such a wide range. From cutesy child-like voices to full on metal-like screams and everything in between. Often her songs can feel like she is a voice actress and amazing singer rolled into one and assumes the role of multiple characters. Songs like God-ish, Aishite Aishite Aishite or Fleeting Lullaby showcase this insane flexibility and character play. Songs like Unravel or Tot Musica showcase both her emotional side as well as her aggressive side. And songs like Odo or Show are certified club bangers. In general watching the live performances is always recommended even though you can't actually see her face. Though be warned that she goes "completely off the rails" sometimes when performing live. 😅

Welcome to the Fandom because I know it will only take one more song and you'll be one of us. Ado is a litteraly Swiss army knife of vocal techniques. When asked what genre of music does she sing she replies yes. I look forward to whatever reaction you decide to do next and if you do decide to do a live version it might be a good idea to react to react to both back to back for comparison.
The are a bunch of artists in Japan that hide their identities, I don't know for sure why they do it but a couple of reasons that come to mind are: schools don't always allow their students to have a job, if the career fails they can still work in an office without any preconceived notions, they can still walk around town without having to be afraid of fans/possible stalkers (not uncommon in Japan for J-Pop/Idol artists) bothering them. Ado is probably one of the better known ones and while I typically don't enjoy pop too much there are couple of other ones that I really like, eg. Zutomayo (ずっと真夜中でいいのに。), where the lead vocalist ACAね doesn't reveal her face and her face is typically obscured by either blasting light behind her on stage or by covering her in shadow and Yoruhika, who are a 2-piece who both don't show their faces or their names with the exception of their aritst names N-buna and Suis. Both Zutomayo and Yorushika are certainly worth checking out. I think the reason why I enjoy both (but especially Zutomayo) is because they tend to use a lot of different ideas from different genres in their music. Zutomayo's live performances are also a feast for the eye and they tend to have a lot of musicians on stage.
I highly recomend checking out useewa! It was her debut song when she was 18 and to this day it still has the most views on her chanel. Also, it is a perfect introduction to her crazy style
I love how you describe those frys and such as "texture" haven't seen others mention it, but it encapsulates exactly what makes me so hooked on her songs and covers. My favorite song right now is "Crime and Punishment" where she goes completely crazy with textures(?). I know its only a cover, but its so amazing. would be very cool if you gave it a listen

I've being watching this channel for a while, and I always hoped you could somehow react to Ado someday... and now it's here!!! I would suggest starting by her cover of "Crime and Punishment", it's a very dramatic song that shows very well Ado's capabilities to sing and to incorporate storytelling in her voice. After that, I would suggest "Usseewa", Ado's very famous debut song, and "Show", another of her most recognized original songs and a very fun one to listen. I hope you have fun listening to them! Thank you for the great reaction and the info of how this colab came to be. As far as Ado goes, I don't think of her as a genre specific artist but more a vocal performance artist that embodies the characters of the song. And because she developed covering vocaloid songs, I have to think that trained her to be able to do unbelievable things at incredible speeds. Unravel (Live), Crime and Punishment, Eien No Akuruhi, Readymade, she even did a cover of a Korean song Villain Utattemita (원곡：Stella Jang). All are amazing. Ado's work is not a rabbit hole but more like the Grand Canyon. :)
I believe that the catalyst for this collaboration between Ado and IMAGINE DRAGONS was when Joel Roadie showed Ado's "Odo (Live at Saitama Super Arena 2022.8.11) " to IMAGINE DRAGONS tour manager Jim Runge on his RUclips channel "Party Like a Rockstar Podcast" about 8 months ago as an educational activity.😌
Ado is fun because it changes the atmosphere and singing way depending on the song. Yodel and rap's fun songs were in the Show live version, and in the dignity live version, they had a whistle voice, which was cool. Also, the song "Sin and Punishment" that produces high and low sounds, aishite live, and unravel live are cool. It's fun because each sounds like a different person.😂

Always a good day whenever someone listens to Ado for the first time ! There are so many songs of hers to choose from but Value and Unravel live version is a must do either way whatever song you listen next its going to be a treat !
The thing is that with Ado's songs, you actually can choose which genre of music you want. You want rock, choose "Backlight" or "Crime & Punishment". For something more jazzy , go for "Rabuka". Pop - "Fleeting Lullaby", "Show". And to see her voice range and acrobatics, I would hint watching "神っぽいな 歌いました" better known as "God-ish".
"Crime and Punishment" from Ado is something you need to listen. But there are more songs to listen from her (i would recommend listening to all of them), but most popular except crime and punishment are: aishite, usseewa, show, unravel, fleeting lullaby, kokorotolunanofukakai
ADO!!!!!! Like another commenter said, so many bangers in completely different its hard to pick. I definitely would go with Tot Mudica official MV with lyrics turned on. where you go from there is up to you, there are no shortage of great ones. She is something special an definitely one of artists that don't come around but every 10 years or so
im so glad to see you react to ado!! i hope you will do more. i also recommend if you enjoy ado checking out a singer with a similar crazy range named stack, who is the lead vocalist for the group akatsuki records (a group that mostly makes doujin (fanmade) music based off a game series called touhou project). both ado and her have that same feeling of unique sounding amateur-to-trained vocalists and i think you would love to hear stack's crazy range :) i recommend two songs to get a good picture of the variety: "third eye tango" and "reverse trigger"
p.s Utaite is more than just a term for people who post their own song covers online- think of it more of a movement / social thing than just a term. They are almost always fairly closeted people - sometimes hikarmori - who are not comfortable with normal social interactions to some extent- and NOT that type who crave fame and dancing in front of huge crowds etc. Hence they are VERY OFTEN anonymous. Even if they become big. They love the singing and music not the fame - and want to share their talents but are not the types to go to auditions etc.. Hence posting covers online anon is a safe way for them to do so. Some do eventually come out of their shells and stop being anon to some degree - like Ado doing live shows even as a sillouhette - that was probably a big step for her, and im sure her management convinced her she needed to tour to push her career forward even tho she is already very big in japan.

While many artists have a toolbox, Ado has a warehouse. Her genre is yes. Her range is a howitzer. Even if you don't know what she is saying, her emotions will pull you in and make you feel the song. You will cry without knowing why. She is a once-in-a-lifetime singer.
So, Ado didnt have an influence in the style of the song. Imagine Dragons originally did this song themselves half a year ago and since then has rereleased the song with a different feature singer of a different language. Ado is the latest one and i think shes the eighth or ninth.
@Olkam-w5u sorry about the wrong info before, someone told me 8. I did look it up and Ado is the 4th. The other three are Austrilian, French, and Italian. While Austrialian in itself isn't a different language, it does make Ado the fourth featured artist. Still the best

Since you are new to Ado I would highly recommend "Ussewa". It's her debut song that is pretty much the main reason she got to where she is now in the 1st place. Followed up by all the other amazing songs she recorded. As a vocal coach you will have a lot of fun with Ado. What you heard here is just a tasty sample of what Ado does in her songs 😁

okay, from what I understand, Imagine dragon's front man Dan Reynolds was raised as LDS member, but later leave that church. This song is actually more of a subdue rejection about that church. (they are in Utah, which is in the mountains is the clue) and if you listen to both ado and Dan's lyrics... one is talking about the church, one is talking about breaking free the norm - which ado often sang about. (even ado's symbol of a blue rose - it means something akin to be in an amazing journey in Japanese culture.)
I don't think a cover is the best version of her stuff to check out to really experience Ado, I'd recommend her original stuff. The 3 I'd recommend to check out are her first big hit Useewa, it really introduced the world to her, and showed how she stood out from other artists at the time. Tot Musica is a song she did for a movie, but the sheer vocal intensity on display is absolutely insane and the evil vibes are immaculate. Show is probably her magnum opus currently. It's a dance track at its core, but she does enough smooth vocal styling switch ups in that song that you can definitely tell that one of her earliest music influences was Freddie Mercury.
Her live cover of Unravel is probably the best example of texture in a live setting I've ever heard. Everyone's recommending good songs, but if you want to hear how diverse her voice can be, I highly recommend Godish.

Welcome to the Fandom because I know it will only take one more song and you'll be one of us. Ado is a litteraly Swiss army knife of vocal techniques. When asked what genre of music does she sing she replies yes. It’s amazing she chose 君の体温(kimi no taion) which is her first cover as an utaite for introducing her background.
The are a bunch of artists in Japan that hide their identities, I don't know for sure why they do it but a couple of reasons that come to mind are: schools don't always allow their students to have a job, if the career fails they can still work in an office without any preconceived notions, they can still walk around town without having to be afraid of fans/possible stalkers (not uncommon in Japan for J-Pop/Idol artists) bothering them. Ado is probably one of the better known ones and while I typically don't enjoy pop too much there are couple of other ones that I really like, eg. Zutomayo (ずっと真夜中でいいのに。), where the lead vocalist ACAね doesn't reveal her face and her face is typically obscured by either blasting light behind her on stage or by covering her in shadow and Yoruhika, who are a 2-piece who both don't show their faces or their names with the exception of their aritst names N-buna and Suis. Both Zutomayo and Yorushika are certainly worth checking out. I think the reason why I enjoy both (but especially Zutomayo) is because they tend to use a lot of different ideas from different genres in their music. Zutomayo's live performances are also a feast for the eye and they tend to have a lot of musicians on stage.

I would suggest starting by her cover of "Crime and Punishment", it's a very dramatic song that shows very well Ado's capabilities to sing and to incorporate storytelling in her voice.
After that, I would suggest "Usseewa", Ado's very famous debut song, and "Show", another of her most recognized original songs and a very fun one to listen.

Thank you for the great reaction and the info of how this colab came to be. As far as Ado goes, I don't think of her as a genre specific artist but more a vocal performance artist that embodies the characters of the song. And because she developed covering vocaloid songs, I have to think that trained her to be able to do unbelievable things at incredible speeds. Unravel (Live), Crime and Punishment, Eien No Akuruhi, Readymade, she even did a cover of a Korean song Villain Utattemita (원곡：Stella Jang). All are amazing.
Ado's work is not a rabbit hole but more like the Grand Canyon. :)

Ado is fun because it changes the atmosphere and singing way depending on the song. Yodel and rap's fun songs were in the Show live version, and in the dignity live version, they had a whistle voice, which was cool. Also, the song "Sin and Punishment" that produces high and low sounds, aishite live, and unravel live are cool. It's fun because each sounds like a different person.😂

The thing is that with Ado's songs, you actually can choose which genre of music you want. You want rock, choose "Backlight" or "Crime & Punishment". For something more jazzy , go for "Rabuka". Pop - "Fleeting Lullaby", "Show". And to see her voice range and acrobatics, I would hint watching "神っぽいな 歌いました" better known as "God-ish".
"Crime and Punishment" from Ado is something you need to listen. But there are more songs to listen from her (i would recommend listening to all of them), but most popular except crime and punishment are: aishite, usseewa, show, unravel, fleeting lullaby, kokorotolunanofukakai

im so glad to see you react to ado!! i hope you will do more. i also recommend if you enjoy ado checking out a singer with a similar crazy range named stack, who is the lead vocalist for the group akatsuki records (a group that mostly makes doujin (fanmade) music based off a game series called touhou project). both ado and her have that same feeling of unique sounding amateur-to-trained vocalists and i think you would love to hear stack's crazy range :) i recommend two songs to get a good picture of the variety: "third eye tango" and "reverse trigger"

p.s Utaite is more than just a term for people who post their own song covers online- think of it more of a movement / social thing than just a term. They are almost always fairly closeted people - sometimes hikarmori - who are not comfortable with normal social interactions to some extent- and NOT that type who crave fame and dancing in front of huge crowds etc. Hence they are VERY OFTEN anonymous. Even if they become big. They love the singing and music not the fame - and want to share their talents but are not the types to go to auditions etc.. Hence posting covers online anon is a safe way for them to do so.
Some do eventually come out of their shells and stop being anon to some degree - like Ado doing live shows even as a sillouhette - that was probably a big step for her, and im sure her management convinced her she needed to tour to push her career forward even tho she is already very big in japan.

So, Ado didnt have an influence in the style of the song. Imagine Dragons originally did this song themselves half a year ago and since then has rereleased the song with a different feature singer of a different language. Ado is the latest one and i think shes the eighth or ninth.
Ado is the third, but the thing is that this collaboration received the most views, 4 times more than the original

okay, from what I understand, Imagine dragon's front man Dan Reynolds was raised as LDS member, but later leave that church.
This song is actually more of a subdue rejection about that church. (they are in Utah, which is in the mountains is the clue) and if you listen to both ado and Dan's lyrics... one is talking about the church, one is talking about breaking free the norm - which ado often sang about. (even ado's symbol of a blue rose - it means something akin to be in an amazing journey in Japanese culture.)
Ado wrote the Japanese text, and there is a phrase there - "God or Buddha in my head, leave me alone"
I don't think a cover is the best version of her stuff to check out to really experience Ado, I'd recommend her original stuff.
The 3 I'd recommend to check out are her first big hit Useewa, it really introduced the world to her, and showed how she stood out from other artists at the time.
Tot Musica is a song she did for a movie, but the sheer vocal intensity on display is absolutely insane and the evil vibes are immaculate.
Show is probably her magnum opus currently. It's a dance track at its core, but she does enough smooth vocal styling switch ups in that song that you can definitely tell that one of her earliest music influences was Freddie Mercury.
Her live cover of Unravel is probably the best example of texture in a live setting I've ever heard.
Everyone's recommending good songs, but if you want to hear how diverse her voice can be, I highly recommend Godish.

I discovered Ado for her song in the anime Spy x Family which made baptist her as the Japanese Shakira haha but I like her style. Now imagine dragons' vocalist wrote a song for an anime opening called Kaiju Number 8 so maybe he went to Japan and met her OR... He's a big anime or jpop fan and said "let's invite Ado!"
