He was going to be a backup no matter where he went so sending to the steelers to who are a good organization learning behind Wilson is the best situation.

Yeah, they got offered a better trade deal to send him to another team. But that team already had a locked-in starting QB. So the Bears wanted him to have the best opportunity somewhere else and knew that the Steelers had Wilsin only on a 1 year deal. So he'd actually have a real shot of starting if he went to the Steelers. What's crazy is the Bears back in 2021 when Fields was drafted the Bears traded up to get JF. They swapped their 2021 1st RD pick then a 2022 1st RD pick which turned out to be the 7th overall pick and then I think it was a later round pick like 4th or 5th RD. Fast forward to now and the Steelers got him for just a conditional 2025 6th Rd pick that can turn into a 2025 4th RD pick if JF plays 51% or more the offensive snaps. Bears and GM Poles for sure got fleeced by the Kahn artist. If Caleb Williams doesn't pan out for whatever reason there's going to be a blood bath in Chicago and that's a fact. But I'm a Steelers fan so oh well who cares. Haha.

We got Fields for a 2025 6th round pick, not a 2024 6th round pick. It’s an incredible deal for us.

@@King_Rayy_The_Entertainer seems like the eagles and bears couldn’t agree on a deal and once Pickett was moved to Philly they had a guy…the market then turned even more sour for the value you would get for fields and Jacksonville already had Trevor Lawrence a long term starter along with Mac jones who they traded a 6th for…so there were not tons of offers out there…I’m sure he liked Pittsburgh as a location but because he believes he has a chance to start eventually…if Russell Wilson plays well and he sits all year and Russ gets extended I would imagine he would have options to start elsewhere next year and that would 100% be all his choice a team like the raiders or panthers or cardinals might need a starting qb and offer him starter money to go start and at that point unless we picked up his 5th year option would have zero control over that

It’s fair to say Bears waited too long to trade him BUT-Steelers reportedly were NOT the highest bidder for Fields. Bears wanted to ensure he went to a team with possibility to eventually start & not buried on depth chart.

They didn't wait long enough. They should have held him till after the draft and dealt him to the team that missed on qb or wait till a team lost starter to injury and dealt with them.

But if you listen to the reports they wanted to do right by Justin Fields, being that he handled things the right way they felt it was only right that they did the same. The team can extend Fields or Russell at any time. Fields will not have his 5th year done but he can still be extended. I do not think that Fields is a one year player.
If they want to pick up his 5th year option, they have to pay that price tag.

Deke come on my dude. Its not that hard to figure out. The 5th year option has a lot to do with Fields value. Pickett has 2 more years at low cost compared to Justin 1. Bears also waitied to long.
All teams knew the Bears is drafting a quarterback so the pressure was on the Bears so everyone could wait and give what they not the Bears.

Fields is not a 1 year rental 😂. This was a move to have a path forward. Russ will be gone after next season. If he plays good, he’ll want too much. If he plays bad, he’s gone. Works out either way for us!

He was also playing behind a sieve his last two years in Seattle. The reason he wanted out was because Seattle wasn’t addressing the o line.

Can't wait to see him mature more sharpen his knowledge reading defenses, better. Getting more accurate he's going to blow it up . Russ might get this season but next year might be a different story. All the Steelers have to do is sign Fields to a two year contract for for 30 mill. Give him a 10 mill signing bonus this year to stay under the cap. The money is almost exactly what it would be if they picked up his option and this years salary. Then we have 2 years to watch him develop. If he doesn’t let him go. It’s basically the exact money Pickett would have received with his option. The cap hit next year will be more than manageable.
Believe Justin wanted to come to Pittsburg and Chicago wanted to do best for Justin. Chicago took a lower bid to do Rite for Justin. A classy move

I think Fields is the long term option. We can decline his 5th year option and sign him to a 2+ year prove it type deal depending on how the whole QB situation and the season plays out

Ive never watched a Bears game fr.. but from what i see jus watching some highlights is tht Fields is most def a running QB, he looks like Lamar earlier is his career when they were sayin Lamar cnt throw , he is fast as hell for a QB but whats his arm and accuracy like?? It looks ok from what i see but does needs improvement, dnt kill me ...again i never watched him play only highlights. Also if it was about a lack of weapons and or a bad O Line why not get him some weapons and a better line instead of trading him if hes a good qb and has potential
I watched a handful of games of his, He can ball. There’s a few Kenny Pickett type moments from him. But he hasn’t had a great team around him at all. Kenny’s lucky he had our defense to bail him out. Justin Fields has some amazing highlights though. I really liked watching Justin play against us his rookie year vs Big Ben. He can sling the ball for sure. 👍

In all honesty, the bears just wanted to send Fields to a stable organization where he can have a future. Very Classy! It's a 6th round which is basically nothing but could turn into a 4th round. Anything can happen. So, Steelers Nation let's not boast and brag about how we fleeced the Bears after we did with Claypool. Again we might need to do business again with the Bears Organization in the future.
I feel like, if we KNEW KP8 was gonna flake out, then we should have worked a bit harder to keep Mason at QB2. Also...the number 1 Gary Anderson...I'm okay with it. He was a GREAT Kicker!! No doubt, leading all-time scorer for the Steelers still to this day!! But, TBH, Boswell is right behind him and I don't even remember what number Boswell wears HAHAHA! Just a career hazard being a place-kicker.
There had to be some dynamic we're not seeing for guys like Cam & TJ to turn on Pickett so hard - unless they're just like us & were fed up with piss poor qb play.
