I disagree, believe Wilson will be a quality #2 and Miller will be a quality slot receiver. Freiermuth was not targeted enough last year. It's going to be run on 1st down, if it's 2nd and 5, then run on 2nd down. If 3rd and 1 run again.
And this is why casuals like you don’t know football & go off paper. If you’re not realizing what the Steelers are doing then you’re lost.. this pickup is simply competition for Wilson & Calvin. Nobody’s position is safe! There’s comp all around the board in each position. Yes we might have plug and play WRs but these WRs are willing to WORK! And that’s what they want.. we already brought in talented WRs before and it didn’t last cus of their attitude, they don’t want no hostages. Somebody is gonna have to step up it’s simple 🤷🏾♂️. Now they have variety of options at WR position to see who want it more. It’s an opportunity

"What if GP gets hurt?" is a legit question. An Arthur Smith offense uses a lot of clear outs deep (which Pickens would need to actually sell) to hit seams and mid depth routes off of play-action.........but what if GP gets hurt? We don't know what the rookie is going to do at WR2 but it's a legit concern.
You could literally say that about any star receiver the team would struggle if their number 1 went down obviously.
@@losauce521 No, it's different with a team that only as a WR1. Before if GP went down then you had Diontae that was a legit WR1 candidate. Or if DJ was the #1 you had GP. It' is a much more significant issue when you have a huge falloff between WR1 and WR2.

Neither QB is a long term option and we probably finish exactly were we finished last year based on strength of schedule

@@mikep3455 Ben threw 34 times a game in 2011. We didnt have a second pass catching TE. We had Spaeth who rarely caught. Wards last year he was outside while Sanders played the slot with Wallace on the outside. Sanders got targeted 4.6 times a game. Best time to have gotten a slot would have been to double up in the draft, but whose name you scratching off? Cant see investing that much into less than 5 targets when you got Washington. He was only targeted 10 times. But he caught 7 of them. That number is going to go up and for every target he gets thats just less opportunities for the slot, because Roman Wison is going to play outside. He runs too fast and tracks the ball too well not to. Also Arthur Smith's Titans years they threw only 28 times a game. George is going to get his 8 to 10. Washington's number is going to go up. You see where Im going with this? Its why they hired Smith. So no clue why you came unglued. A slot WR isnt as important with a lower attempt rate and TE thats going to be on the field with Muth at times. This is about running the ball down people's throats. Its why we drafted the guys we did.

All of these guys looked great with the snaps they where given, the thing all of them have in common is they weren’t utilized correctly. Miller had 500 yards with 33 catches in 2020. That’s on pace for what GP did last year with 63 catches and 1000+ yards…
Scotty is going to be are #1 go too and he CAN catch the ball. Bank on it!

I think they’ll try to sign another one by training camp, but there’s not much out there. We addressed our biggest offensive line. We had a great off-season and free agency can’t correct everything in one year. I think we have a strong running game receiver two will not be that important.
I'm pretty sure what they're doing is making sure if they don't get the guy opposite of Pickens, they at least have players who know the offense and have some skill. Just maybe Roman and Patterson have to play bigger roles than first thought. OR Freiemuth is option 2 which may not be all that surprising with this OC. But for all of this, why not get T. BURKS and hope he still has upside? At least he's a big body.
