First ever lap around Daytona! - 1988 Ford V8 Thunderbird - ChampCar 14 Hour Enduro - April 2nd 2022

Here's my first ever lap around Daytona International Speedway!
I was here with Team Rolling Start campaigning a 1988 Ford Thunderbird for the annual ChampCar 14-Hour Enduro. Unfortunately, it wasn't the easiest of race days. The car was only on track for less than 3 out of the 14 hours. We spent the majority of the day chasing down numerous issues, which meant what was supposed to be a 2 hour stint from 6-8pm became a few laps around 10pm. Endurance racing is a different animal than sprint racing.
Not only was this my first time on this track, but it was my first time in the car. This made for a sloppy lap while I got used to a car with a solid rear axle and close to 3 times the power and torque my Miata makes lol.
Regardless, I still feel grateful I got to experience racing at a bucket list track like Daytona. It was the first time I raced at night and it all led to a very unique experience.

Sounds like a great experience. Man that steering wheel had a lot of extra movement in it, I'm sure that didn't inspire confidents either.
