This is not a knock on the review which is great as always Lauren but do folks really pack shoes without wrapping them or is it just for illustration? I would pack shoes like this once, when they’re new, after that off in a pouch they go! 😄

Just ordered. Glad they were able to reduce the weight. I travel internationally every month for work and weight is absolutely a factor, especially in Asia. 7kg (economy) and (15kg) for business class on average is the max weight so every ounce counts. I also like that they went with a more minimalistic approach where you can choose your own style of how you want to pack.
Two things I wish it had:
    1. Slightly larger water bottle pocket. I’ll try my 40L Owalla freesip once the bag arrives
    2. Luggage pass through. Although I have tried the cross shoulder strap method on other bags and it works fine
Neither is a deal breaker for me. My main needs are a big main bucket compartment, lightweight, carry on compliant

If it was 30-34L and weighed 1.2-1.3 kg, I'd buy it immediately. Because nowadays, the main issue with airlines is weight.

I also wish this was smaller. 35L would be great for me. 40L just feels and looks a bit too big, especially on a smaller frame person.

@@jasecolathe Aer Travel Pack 3 is 35L iirc. It’s a bit on the heavy side though

@@elanthys Yes, the Aer is definitely at the top of my list as I evaluate my next travel pack.

We're working on a few ideas in that size/weight range. What types of trips would you use it for?

@@TortugaBackpacks Hey, great to see Tortuga interacting with the community! I currently have the Tortuga Setout 35L bag and have loved it. Been on several trips to various global locations with me and holding strong! Similar to that bag, I would be using any new similar-sized bag I purchase for international travel. Generally, those trips are between 1-3 weeks and sometimes are a mix of vacation and business travel, so accommodating basic tech gear well along with enough close to get me through (assuming I do laundry if the trip is more than 1 week) is what I look for. Comfort is also a big factor, which is one of the things that's very appealing about both your current Tortuga travel bags.

Will Tortuga be releasing a 30L version as well?

Love this bag! It seems to hold MUCH more than an Alpaka Elements 35L.

I've been looking forward to this review since I heard this bag was coming out. A little disappointed to see no admin panel/full-length front pocket and then also no tablet sleeve in the laptop area. Still, very much considering this as my next travel bag.

Can you review this bag with the Aer travel pack 3?

  • @RedefineGeekYT

I hope they release a smaller version of this. It would be an instant buy if it was 30 - 34 liters. 40 is just too big for my needs.

I have an old Tortuga Air that is 27L and expands to 35L. This has been my main carryon one bag travel pack since 2014-ish. This is a great bag that I hope @tortugabackpacks would update with newer technology. I’d buy that in a heartbeat!

That backpack looks massive on both of you :D I wish they had a 28L version of it lel. Ah they have a 30L on that's 4 lbs (deal breaker) :P

I wish it was a bit lighter. It has the same weight as the Osprey Farpoint 40L and Porter 46L which are great bags.

It sort of looks to me like this bag is smaller width at the bottom than the top. It may just be an illusion because of how it's packed or the natural lay. Is it a true rectangle or are my eyes not deceiving me?
Other than that, this has almost everything I'd hope for, and a lot less of what has held me back from buying the Pro. This looks like my bag. Thanks for the review.

I was really hoping to pull the trigger on this bag, but all the reviews that have dropped show insane amounts of dangle from the shoulder/hip straps! I find it mad that such high end backpacks have such excessive strap dangle. Why not implement an elastic strap keeper loop to keep things tidy? Evergoods is the only company I know of that pays attention to this detail

    • @TortugaBackpacks
      @TortugaBackpacks 6 месяцев назад +2

The bag does have elastic webbing keepers. Plus you can thread any extra hip belt webbing through a "tunnel" on the hip belt pads.

@@TortugaBackpacks Thanks for the response, happy to hear that. I'd just decided (after months of research) to buy your Lite bundle, only to see that you ship solely to the U.S? I'm in Canada, so this is really disappointing. Am I missing something here or do you really only just ship domestic?
