I had thoughts of doing this in my 172 until I recently got bitten by the RV-8 bug. This vid only fueled the flame. OUTSTANDING vid in all aspects. Thanks for sharing!
Excellent video. The drone shots literally add another dimension to the documentary. Seeing you fly around the San Francisco Bay Area brought back wonderful memories of my flying days there. Also honored that you used a few of my still photos of your stay in Brighton. Thanks for sharing!
Beautiful flight and scenery! Between the mountains, the Hudson corridor in New York, and the back-country airfields, it's hard to pick a favorite. Greetings from Iowa! - Martin
FANTASTIC! I've flown into many of the spots but not all of them. My favorites were Gouldings (Monument Valley) and Telluride. The Hudson River corridor is on my list next. Glad to see you enjoying your 8.
At 1:34 the way he opened the canopy is exactly the way my uncle does it, the slow gentle guide prevent it from chipping the paint off the base of the vertical stabilizer.
They say the RV 9 is better for cross country (if you don’t care about aerobatics), but I think the visibility from the tandem-seating of the 8 would be truly insurmountable. Plus, the 8 is faster and holds more fuel.
@@alangarrett1181 Border restrictions, national park closures, extra hoops to jump through everywhere. I think the border to Canada is still closed to most travel. If you happened to test positive for covid, you have to quarantine 14 days. I dunno... I feel like that would put a damper on a trip like this.
@@TherebyAir I did something similar in Nov '21. There were a lot of exemptions for air crews, even GA planes. Canada was the most difficult, but since I was vaccinated, it wasn't too bad. A trip that I'd love to do again.
The lines are cut from black vinyl, the same staff used for lining/lettering cars or windows. It is put on the inside of the canopy and is holding up very well.
Nice! I met you in Boulder City for the parade flyover and lunch at the golf club. How do you like the -8 vs the -7? I figured for a trip like this, taking the 7 might have been better for those long flights.. accessing lunch and things? Although your aux tank probably fits better in the -8?
Thomas, didn´t see your reply til now. I love the -7 too, very comfortable and performancewise very similar. I only took snacks enroute and drinks out of small bottles, all was organized so no problems flying the -8. However everything is accessible during flight in the -7 while in the -8 you need to know what things you want access to during flight. Would love to do formation with you again - meanwhile did some formal training and really enjoying it.
Amazing tour!!!! What avionics/nav/instrumentation did you use or recommend for such a journey. I’m hoping to do the same in an RV-8 as well someday. 👍🏽👍🏽
I have a Dynon Skyview system installed. Additionally a portable Garmin 660 connected to the system as a backup. I used Foreflight on an Ipad and just for this tour I had a VOR/ILS receiver temporary installed.
Man, this is incredible. Adding this one to the bucket list.
Holy shit dude ! Living the dream ! 10/10 would recommend the movie. haha
AWESOME !!! Tks for sharing this amazing adventure❤👍 from québec 🇨🇦
A brilliant video, a great adventure, and a beautiful RV8, nearly finished my `8 and videos like this just help us all keep building and believing

Is it up and flying now? I see this comment is three years old and I'm now wondering how your project went

I admire the scope of your flight!!! I have been flying an RV-4 for 24 years that has only seen the northeast.
Just incredible! I got to drive across it twice but seeing it from the air in my own plane is on my bucket list! Bravo!

Your pics were very welcome, in fact most of my pics were just shot from the airplane while flying.
Now that's LIVIN' Very cool!
Wow! What an amazing trip!

A Flying Road trip!!! Nice

The equivalent of a modern day Frank Kingston Smith. This is why you fly!

2020 My Brother and I landed at Bonneville Salt Flats in his RV9a. Great cellphone sevice there.
11:55 "Bogey, one o-clock!"
GRACIAS, !!
close to hitting a bird at 11.56, thought I saw something so scrolled back a bit
Great video! I’m curious how many hours flight time total this adventure was and what you planned for TAS?
134 hours total, planned with 160 KTAS
Outstanding video? How much did it all cost you? I want to do something similar one day.
Hello,
What you did is just fantastic, would you share the list of airport? Thank you,
Good thing you did this when you did. Would be impractical, if not impossible now.
I am curious as to why you make that statement. What has changed?

Awesome video. Do you have any footage of your trip over to the US from DE?
Yes of course, enjoy: ruclips.net/video/F-Ez1yUk574/видео.html

11:53 was that Superman flying by? :)
A. Nony Mous was wondering what that was also
Fantastic adventure. Inspiring. What is the name of the drone you are using?
Hugo - it was a DJI Mavic Pro, not the newest version but works fine.

@@skyrunner1818 Awesome! What a stunning video you did. I’m looking to purchase my own RV 8 soon. Preferably Pre-built. Any tips or advice?
What''s the airport at 09:20? Congrats on the brilliant adventure.
09:20 - This is Telluride KTEX, second highest Elevation figure in the US - 9070 ft.
Anyone got some info on these RV hotels?
I wonder if he has autopilot.
If you ever get back to NASA they will let you fly practice approaches to the Shuttle Landing Facility occasionally
Paper charts... 😮
