A gothic skull was on display in Prague wearing one when me and my brother visited in 2016. It was called a death crown then and I’ll still call it that now. Mandela effect is used on literally everything. When you see this twisted thing resting on a skull you’d call it that too.

Showing you are ignorant about something is not necessarily a bad thing (everyone is ignorant about a lot of things) what is bad is pretending you know more than you actually know. Smart people won't think less of you for asking earnest questions (if the context is appropriate).
In my life I have confirmed over and over again that earnestly asking some questions about people's interests in topics I know little about is a great way of making friends. You can also learn a lot by listening to different kinds of people talk about their interests.
