Happy y’all are healthy, looking forward to the comeback
First video I've watched, they remind me of a group of blondes. Kinda scary to think they are out there towing trailers with that much weight when they clearly have a lack of understanding/ability
I’d recommend a 5th wheel conversion on the trailer or a new trailer with a 5th wheel. That would allow for less play in the trailer and it has a lot safer of a locking mechanism than a gooseneck. B&W companion is a great hitch that mounts up to your gooseneck and is a ton safer than gooseneck
That's right buddy exactly what I was thinking why would you have all that weight on a gooseneck. Yes I see it on my travels in my state all the time. Humans hauling equipment etc. On gooseneck trailers. I personally would not trust one with the amount of responsibility you have when hauling.

From the way you guys (especially Rick, seeing the rig flip), are shooken up, really makes me get goosebumps. Thank god everyone is okay, and hopefully your guys bad streak is over. Literally almost 1/2 a mil in the last month, sorry guys.
As a flatbed truck driver. On off ramps like that or sharp curves especially with a trailer with the load being high center of gravity is probably the number one cause of most roll overs. Glad all people are ok. Machines can be fixed or replaced. That's what insurance is for.
Yup, I once hitched my tag-along car carrier to the ball, but it wasn't actually full seated on the ball. The ball actually hung up the lock so when I thru the latch it went right in place. I had no idea that my trainer hitch was sitting on the bottom of the lock and not in the ball socket. Thankfully I wasn't going very far and the tongue weight held it in place. But when I got home and went to unload, all hell broke loose. As soon as the car was far enough back the tongue shot up and tore a gash in my tail gate. needless to say I needed a few friend and a change of under ware to get out of this mess.
I was a truck driver for a while. Company rule was 5 mph under the posted limit on the curve. Sometimes I did 10 mph under. Their trailer isn't heavy enough, so the CoG is too high. I bet they were doing exactly the posted limit on the curve or just over because they were so comfortable towing that trailer, but it's not capable.
@@mjodr they taught me 10mph under the yellow "recommended" exit speed. Which I will bet was 25 mph. Can't say for sure but ill wager no way they were doing 15 mph.

This is the most heartbreaking RUclips video I’ve ever seen. Seeing the YXZ under that trailer like that made me emotional for sure. Y’all have to rebuild it somehow. It’s the only OG rig left. So glad y’all are ok!
@@mattyforlife do you really think they are doing this because you get entertained for free? They wouldn't be recording if they weren't making money from the people that do support them financially
As a trucker of 42 yrs, the fact that the load came off the trailer tells me the strapping was not done properly. Besides that, the ball was not in the bed of the truck. (1:24min) Either over stressed or not properly installed. But a fifth-wheel hitch would have been a better choice.
Just from my experience as a truck driver, looks like a lot of weight sitting way up high for that little stilt of a trailer hitch connected to your truck. Just the law of physics working against you when you came around the curve. That sucks bro, I hope you guys get back to it quickly. 🤙
Yes. All of the load on the first half of the trailer was way too high, plus all the cars are lifted, made it even worse. This trailer has a design flaw. In old England we have double decker trailers+trucks up to 97003lb. You have to have +20% or more weight all the time on the top deck. Also the trailer here does not connected properly to the pulling vehicle by that knob, giving it less stability against tipping during cornering. So the trailer went over, without getting any the stabilily from the pulling vehicle.
There's a reason why these huge trailers are not used in most countries . Most countries use commercial vehicles that are designed properly. Can almost guarantee 90% of these big trailers behind small trucks have never had a roll over test
I'm sure there were some words said when the cameras were off, but man it's inspiring seeing how positive y'all were in a situation like this. I'm so glad y'all are ok

Where was the gooseneck ball found? First shots showed it not in hitch bracket in the bed, or latched to trailer on its side? Then someone put it back in truck. My bet is someone forgot to secure ball to truck bed, pin was never inserted. Going into curve with speed and a top heavy load pulled it right out of its socket. Bummer
So thankful you are all safe, the Lord was watching over you all. Enjoy your friends this weekend at Cleetus and Cars. This is just stuff, the people and relationships matter most.
Y'all are some great guys! When I met yall at Indy you made me feel like a friend you've known for years and not just a fan. I can't express how cool that made me feel!
I’d really like to see someone “pass the hat around” at Indy this weekend. Those grandstands are full of SXS Blog fans and while buying merch definitely helps, it would be cool to see the donation bucket get some love without expecting anything more than good content (and good karma) in return.
I applaud your intentions but let’s be honest here, they make a ton of money on RUclips, and I guarantee they have everything insured enough that while they are transporting, in the event of a catastrophic issue like this, their insurance will cover pretty much everything. I love channels like theirs, Cleetus, and all the others, but as businesses, they take all the appropriate measure to protect themselves. Keep buying their merch and keep watching their videos, that’s all they need.
I am so sorry this happened, it really sucks, but listen, you don't have "bad luck" gents. You are constantly on the road, constantly doing stuff. You don't have any more issues than the normal person, you just do SO MUCH that it "seems" like you get more than your fair share. For every 50 times on the road the "average" person probably has 1 issue. You are on the road 20 times a month, so the issues come quicker than most. It probably takes me a full season sometimes two to get out over 50 times. I just riveted up my sled trailer after a "soft" rollover...lol. If there is such a thing. I didn't have full coverage though so I had to bandaid and bubblegum things back together for now. Keep up the good work, we love your channel. Don't let things like that get you down for a second! Broken parts give you the chance to put on better parts...lol.
I agree with a few other comments on here, those gooseneck's will tip when you least expect it. I know those f350's can be fitted with 5th wheel hitches, I think that should be your next upgrade. Tough break. Bunch of awesome dudes that don't deserve any of the bad luck you've had lately. Keep your heads up and keep sending it!!
Yeah doesn’t appear the ball was locked into the receiver in the bed of the truck. Looked like the fucktards don’t do a pre trip inspection. Maybe insurance fraud……..
well considering the chains weren't connected in the first part of the video, would lead me to assume they never fully connected the trailer. That is why you should double and triple check your work, especially when they were probably in a rush, with little to no sleep.
Nice driving mate!! those trailers are so unstable and not good to tow with the centre of gravity is too high. If you're towing an articulated type of trailer you should have the appropriate semi-truck CDL licence. And then you hook it back up again and then use it? like WTF?!
Sad to see this happen, when I first started looking at transporting cars I was told not to even look at a wedge trailer and that they are prone to flipping. Hope you guys can recover from this
This couldnt have happened to a more genuine group of people. We all need to go buy some merch and help these boys recoup. That sucks so bad, I'm glad yall are alright though.
I'm glad y'all are safe! Load pushed against the trailer and it twisted and rolled over. Get a truck next with a 5th wheel and not a gooseneck like you had and this won't happen again. Goosenecks are too tippy and I've seen this way too many times as a semi driver.
We are just glad you all are ok. As for the machines, we will watch you repair each and every one of them. Stay humbled and prayed up cause God had you all covered for sure
I legit got emotional watching this video. And maybe its just me but I'm the yxz is the most devastating to me. Its the machine that changed sxsblog. I know you guys will come back from this. Glad noone was hurt, The fact that you were able to make the video you did today is huge.
Wow Terese and Doug. This is the wildest wreck I've ever seen outside of the military. That the truck didn't roll with it is a miracle. The vehicles can be replaced. I'm glad you're both ok. All of you guys.
Ohh my god...Im soo sorry guys....just a huge "tough break"...just glad yall are ok....tough times don't last...Tough people do!!!! Keep yalls heads up!!
It’s horrible seeing the machines like this, but I’m happier that everyone is ok. This is probably going to hurt your pockets, but hopefully the community will help with buying the merch
Seems like the guy at 10:05 answered how it happened. Going to fast around the curve. That combined with what seems like some of the sxs’s not being secured properly. Sxs not secured properly shifted due to the force of going to fast around the turn and there’s your end result. That strap looked cut not ripped, didn’t see the rough torn edges like it was ripped. I’ve hade a strap get cut by a wheel, looked just like that. Just my 2 cent though.
What's funny and bad at the same time was the guy driving that caused the whole mess is the same guy getting back into the truck to drive again.... typically not a good idea.
I've never liked that design of trailer. It looks real unsafe even when its all good. All that weight up top puts a heck of a lot of force on that hitch so this was probably just something that was going to happen eventually with premature wear in the attachment. Glad you're all ok though - thats the main thing. I wouldn't be using that trailer for that again though. Maybe get something a bit better laid out for the weight.
@@TimnBelle I noticed the ball wasn't in the bed at the beginning of the video, then noticed they put it or another ball back in later in the video. Almost seems like the ball lock pin broke or it wasn't locked in like it should have been. I think a fifth wheel is a better design for a trailer like this with a higher center of gravity.
Time to upgrade to a 5th wheel hitch. Imagine towing cars for a living and having that happen with a load of not your property. I’d say you were pretty damn lucky.
In last 40yrs from top of Monteagle, bout 134mm, to Georgia line, 166mm on I-24 have worked or assisted working probably over a hundred truck/SUV/cars not properly set up for towing and tractor trailer crashes. I know most of ya'll have seen the mini-van with rear hitch makin sparks on the road and nose of rental trailer making a "V" with the van or car. Actually Georgia has more in that 3 mile stretch to the 169. In 2020, i think, there were over 470 crashes from 162 to 169. Curves, dips and bad sight lines test the stability of any tow set up. Have seen 1/2 ton pickups towing monster 45' campers. They ALL say "i don't know what happened...the engine was pulling it fine". Ain't the engines, it's braking, panic moves, on and off ramps that are deceiving with no banking or negative bank. Plus if sheite is gonna happen this is the Devil's Triangle of wrecks. As to this crash I've never seen that much trailer and load on a gooseneck setup. No disrespect but if pin still in hitch and ball still on plate then odds are high that only gravity got y'all that far BUT ain't my crash to investigate. Seems to me like a shorter stacker type trailer would be safer to get some weight down low and consider a Kodiak or toterhome. Mainly glad ya'll not injured and sad to see your rides slammed.
Goose neck is stronger with more weight capacity. Typically about 30,000 lbs. 5th wheel is only rated about 20,000 lbs. The trailer they have is made for cars. I doubt they were over their GVWR with SXS’s.
@@veto8792 Preciate the reply. Good road and weather conditions. Experienced driver. I wasn't there, just speaking from my own experiences limited to tryin to clear the interstate as quickly as possible. So looks like down to two possibilities: human error or mechanical failure. Sometimes gravity and physics don't care about the ratings or there wouldn't be any crashes. L8r.
@@veto8792 they have fifth wheels rated for 30k plus, if im not mistake most 40k rated trailers are fifth wheel only. Dont know if a 3 inch ball goes that high. most wedge haulers use a fifth wheel that only pivot forward an back, that way they are more stable side to side, which comes in handy in times like these. bad situation all around
@@kalebrivers5260 Negative. Unless they are designed for class 8 trucks, most wedge trailers (for 1 ton trucks) are gooseneck. Gooseneck trailers are best for commercial (towing vehicles, equipment and agriculture. Fifth wheel is for recreational (camper/RV towing).

Glad y'all are safe. Y'all were top heavy. Going to fast in the turn. It's that simple. It happens when you become too comfortable with your rig. Always do pre trip and post trip inspection. Stay safe y'all! Love the content!
Hate to agree, but as an 18 wheeler driver, the old saying is "you can take the ramps too slow a million times & never have a problem...if you take it too fast one time...". I always feel bad seeing a driver that rolled a rig. Even in my little sporty 4 wheeler, I don't let some pos push me around curves I don't feel like pushing. They ain't gonna pay for any troubles & they'll just laugh at you on the way by & post you on media if you mess up. Keep it safe & take care!
@@outhere8690 that what I meant by being to comfortable. 1 time not respecting the load and over ya go. All the weight of that trailer was up top. Very lucky the 🛻 didnt go over with it.
Yea, pretty simple to see what happened, not sure why they kept asking "what happened". Trail car even said he thought the whole rig was going over. Meaning the trailer started tilting/listing, probably lifted the truck a tad, before the connection broke. Anytime I'm pulling anything, I go extra slow on on/off ramps. People can get pissed or fly on by, I'm not rolling my rig or haul to save 10 seconds.

As a trucker of 42 yrs, the fact that the load came off the trailer tells me the strapping was not done properly. Besides that, the ball was not in the bed of the truck. (1:24min) Either over stressed or not properly installed. But a fifth-wheel hitch would have been a better choice.
Do you think the insurance people would know that?😂😂😂
My buddy’s dad was one of the tow truck operators and I’m glad he was a good help and will support in anyway I can glad y’all are safe.
Glad you boys are alright.
Yeah its too top heavy. Its easy to get used to towing and you feel comfortable about it. But as a truck driver, that is really top heavy…
There's a reason why these huge trailers are not used in most countries . Most countries use commercial vehicles that are designed properly. Can almost guarantee 90% of these big trailers behind small trucks have never had a roll over test
The reason I don’t like goose neck trailers. Safety chains on the trailer, break or ripped out of the bed.
@@paulshannon4576 yeah 5th wheel has tons more stability and that's why semis use them not goose neck

Sounds like a great idea
@@theoneandonly2590 if you look closely at the chains the mounts where they were connected are still connected to the chains, nice try though.

Nice driving mate!! those trailers are so unstable and not good to tow with the centre of gravity is too high. If you're towing an articulated type of trailer you should have the appropriate semi-truck CDL licence. And then you hook it back up again and then use it? like WTF?!

And the ball not attached properly to the bed. Check it out, beginning of the video, no ball, by 4:06 in, it magically appeared.

High centre of gravity on the trailer for the speed into the corner, ripped the hutch out of bed of the truck when the trailer rolled.
@@veto8792 they have fifth wheels rated for 30k plus, if im not mistake most 40k rated trailers are fifth wheel only.
