Moose. I live in Finland and travel to Lapland almost every summer to visit relatives, so seeing reindeer has gotten old really fast (once I had to wait for 40 min for a massive herd of them to cross a road so...) and in all these years I've seen moose only three times.
@@petragranqvist5434 Wow, only 3 times?! That makes this even more special knowing how rare it is. I'll never forget it and the feeling I had. Greetings to you and wish you safe driving! :)
@@MiikaIsotalo That's what made me so nervous it would come onto the road at the same time I was so excited to see it! Very thankful we saw one safely as I know they're a huge danger when driving (in Canada too).
Well reindeer move in groups - and are therefore easier to spot - whereas a lone moose is the size of 3 reindeer but blends too well into the forest to see until it's too late and then your car is totaled and you with it So I'm going to answer reindeer :) We have moose even here in southern Finland and they're seen regularly. Unfortunately often smashed into a car's windshield though
I have been following your Finland videos for a while now and was so surprised that you guys made it all the way to Inari (Your igloo was right next to my house)! I hope you had a lovely time although it was definitely not peak tourist season and you should really come back during winter to witness the polar night. Everything is more beautiful when it snows! Thank you for the great content :)
Good thing you didn't see the elk closer! They have very good camouflage, hard to see from a moving car. Once an elk was standing his front legs on the asphalt, but he didn't move, so I only noticed him couple of seconds before I basically drove under his head. Hi! haha yes, VERY excited about the moose and reindeer, as you could see ;) It was pretty cool that my first time EVER seeing a moose in real life was in Finland. We have them in Canada but I'd never seen one. Beautiful memory for me now to add to all my other wonderful Finland memories ❤️

They might have given you the other finger than a thumb ;) It is very OK to slow down, when you see reindeer or moose on the road, but parking and not moving over is something we locals don't appreciate that much. No actual harm done on this video, so that is OK, but for the next visitors try to find a safe spot to move over first. Thank you and all the love!
Been watching your Finland videos, find them interesting, to see what others think of my country.. Personally I'd say Finland is a country close to nature while still being very advanced. The nature thing comes across in so many ways, like Oodi library with wood covering and much use of light wood inside in general.. With regards to your driving, be especially careful with moose - reindeer and deer mostly go to the side or over a car in a crash, but moose with its weight and height unfortunately often ends up right through the windshield inside the car. Not pretty. Enjoyed your videos a lot! Edit; moose is something to be aware of in all of Finland, especially in the fall. Also in mid to southern Finland there is deer.
