Awesome video! It's really a shame solidworks still doesn't have any feature that does this directly within the hole wizard tool. I mean this is pretty easy but that'd save a lot of time.
I use the face to sketch. Convert entities, add a center line for the cutter diameter, and revolve. It’s nice to have other options though. Great videos!
Thanks, but for some reason I am not getting a fully defined coincident mate for my 3d sketch with respect to the helix. It's not showing up. Any idea what's wrong?
It would be a lot easier to do this if Solidworks would add a check box that would allow you to turn on making the end face normal to the thread trajectory. You can then do a simple revolve right off of the face. This is a feature that Creo has had for a while. Make bottle thread creation much simpler.
The comment section on youtube is unfortunately not the best place to have a productive lesson. We are happy to answer specific questions if we can but your best bet is to contact your VAR's support team to learn about training options. Go Engineer does offer some really excellent training programs as well here www.goengineer.com/professional-solidworks-training
Hello, Select the angle you want the starting point to be by editing the start angle in the Helix dialog box. You can even change the helix direction with the Clockwise and Counterclockwise options.

clever! thanks for sharing!
How did he bring up the menu after he selected the face and the vertex? It happens at 0:42.
Thank you so much Jacob, you saved my ass with this video!

the problem is how do you fix the starting point for the helix by the thread profile?

really good content. thank you! but I think you mean "pertinent" @ 0:24
The best
Thanks
The plane should be at the same pitch angle
Which Plane?
@@goengineer ,... the plain use to control thread feature,... so as to govern the end of the thread.
