I first saw her when I was a very young teacher, and she was a very very young student - all that wonderful presence, energy, and personality you see here was already *there* even then. I sub'd for her regular teacher for two classes and spent most of the classes trying to keep focused on teaching when all I really wanted to do was just watch her dance.
thank you so much for uploading just this variation!! she was so ON here, her balance was perfect throughout, and of course her musicality and presence were great as well; thank you!!!
I was fortunate enough to see her Aurora with the San Francisco Ballet a few years after this recording. As for this variation, I've yet to see anyone do it better. Maybe Tiler Peck or Ashley Bouder, of today's crop of NYCB ballerinas.
Only person ever to do it better was the great Marnee Morris, for whom it was choreographed. There is a video of her dancing it--a recording made in Montreal in the early Seventies.
OH. MY. GOD. That crystal clear footwork

Totally agree. Ms. Peck probably made a meal of it (that's a good thing). But every time I see this, I think "How can this possibly be done better?"

Well that’s about as good as that can be.
