Tried CS50, failed, tried The Odin Project then also failed. First watched Leon sometime in November 2022, then decided to really focus on his classes on December 15, 2022. Took me 6 months to finish classes 1 to 55+, 3 months of job hunting, and was hired as a junior software engineer last November 2023. Full-time WFH with provided MacBook/equipment. Thank you, Leon!
Awesome!!! Thanks for coming back and sharing. Congratulations! I'm currently on Class 7. Pressing forward, I can't wait to one day come back and share my story of how I finished got hired for my 1st dream WFH role
I came back to pay my dues, thank you Leon, after going through the 30 week bootcamp I was able to get hired as a software engineer at a fortune 100 company making 6 figures a year. 🙏🏾 Anyone who’s reading this comment, he’s the real deal.
Congratulations! Sooo dope! I just completed my 1st Class and I'm working on the 1st homework assignments as we speak. Your comments are very inspiring! Congratulations again to you!!!! How long did it take you to finish 100 Devs and get your 1st job?
Ive come to the realization that my career change journey is so stagnant because im looking for a shortcut to get into tech. There are not shortcuts so with that said....As of March 16th, 2024 I am dedicating my journey to learn with Leon to become a software engineer. Salute to you Leon and everyone else.
Where are you from? I’m looking to start my coding journey too. In the process of selling my house so that I can fully immense myself in this journey. Looking for a partner to work with. 😊 I’m from SA 🇿🇦

Literally cried hearing your story I’m so glad you made it and I’m so grateful for you existing. Truly. I hope to be able to come back to you and make you proud when I get a job. Thank you truly Leon.
August 15, 2024 my first day of this journey and I thank you Leon so much for this. Looking forward to the next 30 weeks. Holding myself accountable and striving for a better life/career
I have watched the intro part with tears in my eyes. Leon, your kindness, compassion, protectiveness over the community, effort to be honest and realistic, lightheartedness and amazing teaching style have blown me away. I haven’t seen anyone with such a genuine intention and passion to help others in a long while. This is what I’ve been looking for. I’ve been wanting to get into software engineering for a while and but the courses and tutorials seemed all very daunting, but with the community support it seems possible. I don’t want to miss the window. I will be here for 30 weeks and do my best, and I’ll get a software engineering job. I appreciate this bootcamp so so much, thank you very much Leon. You are a life-saver.
I'm watching this now 3months later but I feel I can get in if I have the access to the classes, thank you for your inspiration and you humble, self less God bless you 🙏
Today is my first day. I know it’s 1year ago. But need a change of career. And will do this for 100days even when it’s hard. Will comment when I get a job.❤
I am front-end software developer making 6 figures because of this guy. Noel was not only our web dev instructor, he also gave us job-finding tools and strategies that I have *no idea* where I would be (professionally) if it wasn't for it. I came across this video today and can't be more happy to see he is still providing the knowledge and mentorship in a fashion he only knows hows to ❤
Where my journey began. 100Devs changed my life, and if you follow what Leon says you will succeed. It’s going to feel hard, and overwhelming at times so you need to come to terms with that. But if you put in the time, and effort, there’s no doubt you can start a software developer career learning with 100Devs. It took me about a year to land my first developer job learning with the 100Devs community. It’s hard but not impossible. If you’re new, and unsure about this, please give at least 50 honest hours of effort towards this, and I assure you that you will be amazed at the progress you’ve made. Don’t quit!
I first heard about all of this on TikTok. My first impression is that, how can I father of two in-between jobs be able to partake in these classes and ultimately be able to code? I don't know the answer to that question, but I know that I like this guy Leon he is a genuine guy and I believe in him and his vision. To be honest, I am overwhelmed. It has taken me a week to get through this first class, but I'm in it for the long haul. I'm in it to finish the marathon. I am in it to sprint through that finish line. I will send a comment on each video to give myself and maybe Leon my 2 cents of this Journey. Thank you Leon.
20/12/23. Day 1, Week1 - Watching the intro today. Trying to keep myself accountable, will make a comment on each training i watch. 👸🏽Thank you Leon for this opportunity!🌸
2/5/24 Coming back to start this journey all over again because life be lifing. Holding myself accountable. Cannot wait to see the cohort grow and evolve! Thank you Leon!
Just starting today. I am a man who has no resources for help or aid in how to learn these things. And with my physical disability, It is hard to find a pathway I can embrace that I am both passionate about, and I can physically do and make a living doing. I feel With your wonderful help, being a fellow POC from the east coast, I have finally found someone that gets why this is so important, and Am so ready to give my all! Thank you so much!
OMG! this was a gem for me lol ~1:58 instead of taking notes while studying and reading content, write questions down...this is your active recall! and will help you remember things
I appreciate you so much Leon. Taking care of my mom before she passed away left me not having an idea of how to go on. I had been a union plumber but I no longer want to jump in and out of holes at 53. My mom was my everything and I had been very depressed. Coding has brought life back to life. Having the idea of learning something that will benefit me and also those around me and at-large is priceless. In these very strange days it is a blessing to be able to call your own shots and career path. Thank you sir
I'm so absolutely sorry for your loss. I've struggled a lot emotionally and with depression ever since my mom passed away in 2019. I moved from home after a Hurricane in 2017, then my mom's passing, divorce, then the pandemic. I so understand what it feels like to find something to hold on to or look forward to. I'm so happy for you to have found that. And I truly wish for you to make this goal possible and reap all of its benefits!
Its crazy watching this video after having it changed my life so much. I knew after the first class Id need to make a commitment and I did. I was working full-time and quitting wasn't an option I had my kid to take care of and bills to pay. It was extremely difficult but every waking moment was spent studying through this program. I was lucky enough to go through it live and in March 2023 I was given my first tech opportunity. I went from being a housekeeper to a software engineer and I'm already on job #2 with a company I love and benefits. I never spoke with Leon but I'll forever be grateful.
Took me 3 days but I was able to finish this class today. I've been trying to MONTHS to get into programming and it's been so overwhelming and honestly, kinda scary. The most daunting was trying to find a curriculum to help teach myself to code. Leon, thank you. Thank you for taking the question marks and the hesitation and the doubt out of the equation and helping to instill confidence. I cannot WAIT to get stuck in and GO GET!
Im restarting from class 1 after a long break, it is so hard to be back in programming and start learning again but i know i can do it. my last class was about js but then i took a break due to a personal problem but im glad that after all those wasted time im here again to relearn things again.
Starting on class 01 even though I know JS and a decent amount of React & Node. I've been working on full-stack projects but never completely finishing them or always moving onto something else before finishing anything to put forth and show as a portfolio piece. I hope to check in and comment on every video as I go through this. I usually skip the intros of videos and jump straight into the content but I'm glad I stuck out and listened to your intro Leon. Hearing your background and story made me tear up due to some similarities. I'm in, I also checked in on the May catch up crew on discord. I hope that this 6th year PhD dropout can finally turn things around and start moving forward.
I have to say... I normally get antsy with video tutorials if they're longer than 12-15 minutes. But even though I took this first lesson in July, 7 months after you aired it, I was so enthralled with this 3.5 hour video that I was willing to forgo a couple hours of sleep. I heard of this through Twitter but checked it out after hearing your episode of Code Newbie and I GET the hype now.
I am literally about to start this video and my journey into Coding. I know I am joining the Cohort super late, but I look forward to learning a new and specialized skill! Who knows what the future holds
Just joined, going to make this my new special interest. For any fellow ASD folks, play on 2x speed. Enjoy retaining the info and actual staying focused.
Thank you so much Leon! This was a wonderful class. You made me emotional about your start story and I can't wait to follow through this journey with you and everyone else! Best of luck to all of us and that we may endure the hardship of a consistent practice of learning.
I am 30 minutes in and can't stop the tears. Your words have given me much hope that I still yet have a purpose and can accomplish financial stability. Like @Ayca B., I truly appreciate your time and effort to provide this opportunity to learn. I just learned of you through a classmate in my Generation USA cohort. I look forward to this journey. Thank you and many blessings to you!
I am back. Last year, after being laid off from my company, I came here to learn to code, but I was not in the proper mental state. I had the hardest year last year; it was just awful in so many ways. I felt like I was going to give everything up -- but somehow, I made it through. Now, I am in the right state to truly go after what I need and what I want. I will be starting over from the beginning -- I am not sure if it's all begun over or not, but I will be putting my all into this course because I have a plan and a vision for my life now. I want to thank you for the work you are doing; I knew even last year it was something special, but now I can truly receive and appreciate it. I am posting this for accountability. I WILL FINISH THIS COURSE THIS YEAR, and I will bring my visions to life. Thank you ☺
right there with you! I was also laid off last year, finally got a new job but it's been a struggle and I'm not happy. So I decided to start 100Devs over and give it my all. You got this @tywatkins! You're going to make it.
Good job jumping back in. The 3rd Cohort starts at the end of January. No exact date announced yet. Are you on the Discord? I joined/followed the Catch Up Crew to get all of the updates and a course tracker. Good luck to you, stay focused. We got this!
@@zombiekill25 Thank you so much!! You're so positive and supportive! You as well have got this!! Sometimes we just need a moment to recollect ourselves and remember what's truly on the line! Let's give it our all @zombiekill25 ! We will be software engineers with fruitful, flexible jobs soon!
Thank you, @@yourhighnessdames3354 ! Yes, WE GOT THIS! Yes, I am on the discord and I am focusing on the lessons as well! The homework tracker is nice I don't remember having it before. The first time I tried I came in between cohorts so it was hard to focus, but I'm determined. I'll go as far as possible before the next one starts and then join in for a refresh! I heard the new one was pushed to March now, but even still, we can keep going and be ready for the newest cohort when it begins! Good luck to you as well!
Commenting to track my progress and keep myself accountable. Date: 12/15/2023 What I learned: Got to know various types of learning, which I've learned in University. Learning how the internet works, and some basic frontend/backend terms. Was it hard to learn: No, some things I knew already, but it was a good refresher. Comments: Super excited to learn more, but pacing myself so I don't get burnt out. Thanks so much Leon and everyone else for making this available!
BRO…WOW…I don’t know you, don’t know how I ended up on your channel, video, but I’m so happy I did! There are people who have that “IT Factor” and you my man, you have that, you have that and more. The fact I sat here and listened to you for 24 minutes already, and you have me commenting this, it’s mind blowing. You inspired me in 24 minutes. They doesn’t happen. Rarely. But you did. You have a way with words. You’re raw, passionate, have purpose, represent a HUGE CAUSE ON SO MANY LEVELS, like wow man! When you said I’m not a doctor, I’m not a nurse, but I feel I have something I can provide, I said out loud, yes you fkn do! As a registered nurse who worked in the ICU for two years during COVID, from day 1, until 2 years in to COVID, I hated the word Hero. Hero gets thrown loosely. Did I do some great things, I can humbly say I did, and it was intense, sad, took a huge toll on my mental health and sobriety, but a hero, a hero is someone changing the lives of SO MANY people, for free, one giving back selflessly to his/her community, one who invests in the lives of others and fights for a cause, takes a stance to make a difference, and more, and that is YOU bro. I’ve never written something like this about someone and I’m 37 years young. I was graduate speaker of my nursing class and I hope my speech moved people the way you did me in such a short time. I don’t want to be a software engineer, but I’m now vested in this boot camp even if it is two years in. So let’s see where this journey takes me! Maybe it’ll help my real estate career! Let the journey begin…they say people come into your life for a reason, season, or a lifetime, and I don’t know where you fall yet, but I know for sure, a reason is one. Thanks for being you bro. Thanks for sticking to that sailboat inspiration and becoming a blessing to so many.
Damn im so glad you exist! Seriously tired of scammers. Also cannot find anyone willing to help until I found your discord on reddit somewhere looking for free course thank you for all that you do!
I've been making website themes since the myspace days, then some themes for wordpress and tumblr, I'm excited to actually get into developing my skills much further. I've dabbled around over the years in c# and c++ but nothing I've ever been able to translate into a career.. From everything I've heard of last years, I'm committing to every single damn class and I'm excited for it. edit: got to the end of the video and heard you mention myspace and how that's where a lot of developers got their start... eyyyyyyy! lmao
@@saeedom100 Stick with it! It will get complicated, but the discord exists and you can find or ask just about any question on there. Everytime I feel like there's no possible way I can grasp a concept I look at things I was incapable of doing even just 2 months ago and how far I've come. Asking questions and learning to google your problems will become your greatest strength. Don't feel bad about not understanding new concepts right away. Leon is a fantastic teacher and while the classes are often very challenging, they are just as much fun. I'm behind about a month and a half, so there's no shame in having to catch up or even start later on. This entire course has been changing my life and if you're interested in it, it will likely change yours too. Best of luck, and welcome to class!
I have new regained hope for humanity because of you Sir !! People like you rarely exist these days, when ill be ready,i will help this cause with the powers i will achieve with your help.(sorry for my bad English)
You are an awesome teacher, I wasn't planning on going through your 1st class the same day but I did, and enjoyed it a lot. I will follow all your directions. Thanks God bless you. I appreciate you.
Good afternoon! I am starting today. I took a Financial Technology course at Rice, but have not had any luck at all finding a job. I'm hoping this is what I need to get over the edge! Thank you so much for this opportunity Leon.
When a child, I felt this memory in water and all other objects. I connected to everything. But I was called too sensitive and i was shamed away from it. Finding this man's videos is reminding me of who I really am and starting to connect me back to this world. Most of the things he mentions I already do naturally - particularly the water and plants. Many blessings to all and much gratitude for posting all of this helpful information.
THE ACTIVE RECALL, YESSS!! I recently studied for the CCNA, and was guilty of the poor study methods he mentioned. About halfway through, I decided to switch things up and inadvertently landed on Active Recall, started writing down questions instead of writing down answers. It was INFINITELY more efficient than my studying before, I retained so much more information. Ended up passing the CCNA after only 4 months of study, going from zero knowledge to certified. This method is legit! Anyways, I was really happy to see an official title for my method. I felt like Einstein after having this discovery, and was also incredibly furious that they never talked about this in school!
I am actually so excited to learn from you, I am at that first 5 minute break, and enjoying every minute of this so far. You are a true hero in the community, and I can’t Waite to hopefully be apart of this community.
It's not often you discover a wonderful teacher such as Leon! What a gem of a human being! How would you describe his teaching style? I need more people like him in my life
Amazing stuff man! Been learning fullstack for a couple months now. Just stumbled on your video and now I'm making a commitment to go quite far along the program. Respect!
I felt personally attacked watching this, this man single handedly said everything i am going through in one video LOL, this got me hooked i am on catch up crew and will be doing two classes a day. appreciate these and looking forward to the journey
Aspiring IT tech here👋🏾 Transitioning from Insurance to IT. Came to YT to get some help on how and where to start to get into IT. Went down a rabbit hole and found your channel. I'm happy that I found you, Leon. Excited to go through each video one by one and learn all I can learn!!
@@essentialsofg2417 It's going lol. I'm looking to get into a tech program. One that is free. A friend of mine told me about this program called NPower for ppl 18-26 and PATH2TECH for anyone older, so I filled out an application for the program. Just waiting on an email for an interview to see if I'll get in. Wish me luck 🤞🏾
For those starting this journey with Leon, keep it up. He is an incredible teacher and does an amazing job making the world of programming accessible and fun!
Just started, finished the video and onto the materials. Wish I'd have found leon and this community sooner! I've been all over the place for years, learning little bits but never really learning anything if that makes sense... This time I'm here until the end, I'm doing this for me, for my future. Good luck everyone, you've got this.
Starting from day 1, although I've already created a fully functionial game and am currently learning backend development! You can never have too many resources.
It's incredible to think you are doing this without asking for any money. And the fact with Anki you even tell everyone NOT to pay is hilarious, but so nice of you. I'm blown away by how down to earth and incredible you are. I'm starting my journey, and hoping I can catch up with the classes you're currently at.
@@saeedom100 advice? I would say definitely use anki, every day. Read the readings top to bottom and put the stuff you don't understand or anything you want to learn more about in there and study daily. If you're stuck just Google it, look up on RUclips for people to explain, and use discord to ask questions! We are all in this together and we will all help each other out. Don't be afraid to ask for help
Leon, this is my first time discovering your channel. I'm currently enrolled at a local college to start Software Dev in January, after a pretty rough year. I figured I would try to get a head start so I looked up some videos. The first 30 minutes of this stream is amazing, I can feel your passion through the screen. From one stranger to another, thank you, and I'm proud of you.
Wow! This video is super inspiring and motivational! Leon left me feeling emotional and driven to the point that I decided to join #100Devs back in late March. I cleared part of my daily schedule to do this and I commited to start Day 1 on my sons' birthday - April 3rd. I'm doing this in honor of my son because I truly believe what Leon is teaching will have me becoming a Software Engineer and with this super skill, I know that I can change the trajectory of mine and most importantly my son's life. I am feeling so grateful right now! Just seeing what Leon has created for the community definitely speaks volumes! Thank you Leon, thank you for helping so many to reach their dreams. I can't wait to be next!🙏💪
i can make a list on how much this video helped me and this is just the first video...... all i want to say is THANK YOU! cant wait to finish the rest of the series!!!
Unfortunately I don’t have and can’t afford a laptop right now but I hope you keep posting each class here on youtube (just subscribed). I found your post on r/learnprogramming like 30mins ago, may god bless you for this man.
But mentor is so difficult for me to learn because this facility is so difficult for me like computer,I managed to get an old one,I wish I can be with you in the same house so that u can teaching me more about software engineering. May God continue to bless you mentor
I related to so much of this 1st class. Also, i'm a former HS educator and you nailed it right on the head - repetition is key! This is something that needs to be taught to students at every level. Great first class!
#catchupcrew I'm so excited to begin this journey with Leon. I know HTML, CSS, and some JS but I want to start from the beginning to get some knowledge that I may have missed along the way.
Same here, I taught myself a little using freeCodeCamp and sololearn but what I was really missing out on was an instructor and I feel Leon’s way of interacting and teaching is great for me so I think I’ll finally be able to learn more
Just starting my journey today. I’ve tried to coding in the past and just thought I wasn’t smart enough. I got married 2 years ago and my wife is supporting me to find a careers that makes me happy. I’ve always been in love with tech so that’s why I’m here and I’m going to give it my all!

Today is my day one. I recently had a coffee chat with someone who completed last year. I doubted myself, and Today I am counting on myself, to go through each class and be apart of catch-up crew. I wish I could do it live, but I will commit to tweet live about my journey. Thanks for this.
"It's like I just teleported. I am at the end of the chapter and I am like......What just happened" lol I felt this one deep in my soul. Leon, you are awesome. I am excited for this journey!
Leon is providing people like myself a way out of the poverty cycle we were born into, and it’s free. I’m so excited to be apart of this movement, because that’s what this is essentially. ❤ Thanks again, Leon. I hope we all are able to forward this kindness ourselves one day.
Tried CS50, failed, tried The Odin Project then also failed.
First watched Leon sometime in November 2022, then decided to really focus on his classes on December 15, 2022.

How's it coming along??.
Coming back a year later to say thank you!! I love my new job as a web dev 💕💕💕💕 he’s the real deal and an incredible instructor!
Your passion is also over flowing thanks for the mental boost and yes I whole heartedly agree with everything!

This is the first-ever youtube video in my entire life that I sat and watched from start to finish.

Thank you for looking me in the eyes and telling me I can do it. I rarely see this kind of enthusiasm from people.
Im restarting from class 1 after a long break, it is so hard to be back in programming and start learning again but i know i can do it. my last class was about js but then i took a break due to a personal problem but im glad that after all those wasted time im here again to relearn things again.

Thank you ☺

As a registered nurse who worked in the ICU for two years during COVID, from day 1, until 2 years in to
COVID, I hated the word Hero.
From everything I've heard of last years, I'm committing to every single damn class and I'm excited for it.
edit: got to the end of the video and heard you mention myspace and how that's where a lot of developers got their start... eyyyyyyy! lmao

Everytime I feel like there's no possible way I can grasp a concept I look at things I was incapable of doing even just 2 months ago and how far I've come.

Today is my day one. I recently had a coffee chat with someone who completed last year. I doubted myself, and Today I am counting on myself, to go through each class and be apart of catch-up crew. I wish I could do it live, but I will commit to tweet live about my journey. Thanks for this.
Do you know if we'll still be able to do the homework and stuff? (I'm starting today myself and I'm a bit lost)
@@DarthChals Hey Carlos I am also in the same boat. we should keep in touch if each of us figure it out
I'm starting today, too. I hope we could be of help to each other with assignments and stuff.
@@ifeolanre I just started to can I join yall group?
@@Bigraga123 Sure. That would be great. But it's just you and me for now though.
Also, the Anki app is helping me a lot in the classes I’m taking right now. Thanks a ton for that tip! 👏🏼

I’m 23 born and raised in Boston, and I’m just starting this now. I’m hoping to complete the whole 30 weeks and I fully believe I could.
