These are two EVENLY matched killing machines going at it against each other. Who knows how many Fremen the Sardaukar took down before finally being overwhelmed by them? It must have been an incredible fight.
Say what you will about Sardaukars running at the sight of Shai-Hulud, they still took blast of aftershocks of several nukes and still decided to stand their ground. That still takes huge balls.
Of course. Nukes are within their knowledge as a kind of ordnance. They’re trained to fight that. Shai-Hulud was not in any training manual, not even the Emperor’s blades 😂😂😂
I mean who can criticize them for running at the sight of that lmfao Like, the fuck is anyone going to do when a worm the size of the Empire State Building is charging at you??
imagine if they had a few flying copters to scout the surroundings of the tent, they would've seen a raid group of 1000 sand mujaheeds screaming their lungs out
The Sardaukar were hyped up to be total badasses who apparently never known defeat but up against the fremen they run in fear and were cut down so easily that it happened mostly off screen.
1. Standing in front of a charging worm is a suicide and that's not how you serve the Emperor 2. Fremen are just better fighter in general, in the first film Duncan said that he nearly died fighting one and Duncan dispatches multiple Sardaukar by himself. Also they're fighting in the dessert it's like playing hide and seek with a viet cong in the jungle
You would too if you got hit with THREE nukes and then charged at by not one but THREE sandworms, followed by a horde of desert warriors that just pop up from the sand like damn ghosts.
The shot of him coming over the dune with the fanatical southern fremen was cut way too short. The heat waves off the sand blur them and you barely see them before they cut to Chani's attack group.
After the explosion, the Sardaukars get up on their feet in beautiful style, raise their banners and stick them in the ground. They remain and fight until the end. Beautiful scene. Respect.. 👊🤛
That was the only issue i had with this movie: almost every fremen had fucking plot armour. Not a single fremen killed by a sardaukar. Like really? I mean i get that paul is the goat but the rest?
Yes that's exactly how they're supposed to be portrayed. They're overpowered af. In the book, Herbert described that it takes at least 5 Sardaukar to take down 1 Fremen warrior. Not to mention there were only around 150k Sardaukar (5 legions as described in the book) while there were at least 10 millions Fremen. They're doomed.
In the books it is explained that the Fremen are lethal fighters because they can’t use the body shields as they attract the Sand Worms. So this scene would have made more sense with a single sentence explaining that the Sardukar are vulnerable as they are NOT used to fighting without their shield gear. When Paul killed Jamis, the Fremen thought Paul was toying with Jamis as Paul fought with slowed down motions before delivering those blows. Once Paul let go and went full in, was the moment he bested Jamis. Same for the Sardukar. Their fighting style ended up being their weakness.
Why didn’t the Sardaukar use their anti-gravity suits to get above the worms? And they had no airships to recon what was coming? Just saying they could have made them not appear so inept after building them up so much in pt 1.
Dont know about the anti gravity, but there is a storm that cause the entire area to not be able to respond quickly to the attack (Paul waited for that storm apperently) so by the end only a few managed to take off but were quickly crippled by both Fremen's AA and the storm itself
They’d have to float exactly to the right height to land on the worms, successfully land on the incredibly fast moving worms, then fight the Fremen riders on shaky terrain they’ve never experienced or trained for. In short, they’d have to circumvent 2 instant deaths just to receive a quick one instead.
Can someone please explain to me why they didn't have the ships with the guns in the final battle? Or the laser guns they used to destroy the harvesters?
Most likely the storm, those ships would be grounded and would have been consumed by the winds (as the ornithopters are). Or would just get crushed outright. As for the lasers, they are big and bulky and what are you planning on using them on?
It's because in dune, if laser get in contact with shield, it will create nuclear chain which will annihiliate both sides. That's the main reason why fight are done by hand in dune. Meanwhile spaceharvester are meant to not have shield in them since shield attract worm in the dessert. That's why the fremen could use laser to attack those ships at the dessert. In the last battle, the fremen could not use it because of the reason above. Also, the last battle main purpose is to capture the emperor so that Paul could gain the throne. So, the use of lasgun will probably poses great risk to the main purpose of the battle.
Lasguns are not used much in dune because if a shield comes in contact with a laserbeam it creates a nuclear explosion. That's why if laser guns are used in dune it's if they know the other party don't have shields (which is unlikely as every soldier was equipped with a shield and fremen were the only unshielded warrior forces in the universe) or they use lasguns only after they know that the enemy shields are down (see the harkonnen chase of duncan idaho in the first movie). Sardaukar and all the Imperial equipment and vehicles were shielded, so if anybody brought a lasgun everything would go boom.
I don't know everything about DUNE, but to my understanding, The Fedaykin are to the Fremen what the Sardaukar are to your average house soldier. That is to say the best of the best. If even basic groups of Fremen can tear through house levies and Sardaukar with ease, then the Fedaykin should surpass those numbers easy.
Why did they not have harkonnen artillery ships shooting rockets at the sand worms? They would’ve seen multiple worm signs from miles away, and see that people are riding it.
@@jimmyandersson9938 All the Baron cared about was profit. He did not invest anything into researching how the Fremen lives. He thought there were only a few thousands of them in the north when in reality there were at least ten millions.

Because Sardaukar were done dirty in this one for amping up Harkonnens and hyping Feyd as main villain. Sure, in the book Sardaukar also got destroyed by Fremen army, but they even managed to fight back unlike the Harkonnen troops did. But in the movie the Sardaukar forces remaining on Arrakis after the destruction of House Atreides were removed, so every fight sequence where Paul and his allies struggled were supposed to be against Sardaukar, while the easy kills were against Harkonnens. Even Feyd wasn't that much of a problem for Paul to defeat, in the fight he thought more of Feyd having a hidden poisoned weapon than having any problem with his fighting capabilities. That's one of the major issues of this great movie.
