    Had all my gear stolen in Paris over lunchtime in full view of everyone, witnesses and all. The police did nothing. I will apply your tip. I have a ball lock at the rear. Bull horn I think it is called. Sad really that we have to do this. The years of collecting the right tools are just incredible, and to lose them just breaks morale.

    Nice job buddy...looking fwd to seeing the back door

    I don't own the van anymore so I'm now unable to show you what I did to the rear doors.
    With much thought there really wasn't anything I could do other than fitting a deadlock into the edge of the back door or fitting a surface mounted deadlock across the back door. I opted for the surface mounted deadlock called an 'armaDlock', if you search it on RUclips you'll see exactly what it is.
    It was easy enough to fit and it worked really well, also being a visual deterant can only but help.
    There is no 100% solution but you can only give yourself the best chance.

    you can also drill through the top slider and put a lock or a pin through just behind the sliding wheel

      Yes, that would stop the door from opening but it wouldn't stop the door being folded at the top corner.

      @@dannym670 looking at this for my van with the windows at the top. Presuming they are harder to fold without smashing the windows

    Great idea,cheap and very effective. Have you devised any strategy for the back doors?

    • @dannym670
      @dannym670  5 лет назад +5

      Hi, the same principle would work for the back doors too, but you can only do one or the other as you need to be able to get in from the outside of one.
      I've fitted an ArmaDlock to the rear doors for added security, write up was pretty good and they're fairly easy to fit yourself. You wouldn't be able to get into quietly or easily put it that way but there's only so much you can do, but it's better than nothing!

      @@dannym670 thanks for the reply. Absolutely agree,you can only do so much,doing something is better than doing nothing after all. Cheers.

      @@adrianhill9208 I think you could put a bolted steel plate on top of the van roof which would be tight enough to prevent anyone getting an opportunity.

    Perhaps you should patent the idea and sell it to the van makers !

    When you say weld, did you mean atual welding or a liquid metal

    • @dannym670
      @dannym670  Год назад

      Actually weld it, liquid metal wouldn't have the strength compared to a proper weld
