@Hazz JL I had the same thought when I read "17 years". That makes Soundgarden nearly 30 years ago, and U2 about 40 years ago, and Pink Floyd about 50 and the Beatles about 60 years ago. Frack, I'm past old, pushin' ancient. Yet the music still moves me. Recent music sounds so cheap and throw away by comparison. Yeah, I definitely sound old reading this back to myself.
Whem i think 03 i think like it wasn't that long ago, i was 17 😭😭 now 17 yrs later almost 34. Somehow i still feel very younf like 18, 20 😂 One of my favorite songs for sure
You are the best. Chris was and still the best. Like you no laibles. If I here it and like it doesn't matter. There are closed minded people who, if they opened there mind. I'm a white 58 years old. I miss 2poc, l miss and love music not titles. GOD bless you brother. Your the most open minded coolest brother I have ever known. What you do is what I've been doing for years. LOVE YOU MAN.
It is right up there with the best. Such a shame it didnt work out. This band was onto something in a major way. They had a unique sound and the lyrics are unstoppable.
The 5 Kings of Grunge: Chris Cornell (Temple of the Dog, Soundgarden, Audioslave) R.I.P Layne Staley (Alice in Chains) R.I.P Kurt Cobain (Nirvana) R.I.P Eddie Vedder (Temple of the Dog, Pearl Jam, solo career) Last man standing :( Scott Weiland(Stone Temple Pilots, Velvet Revolver) R.I.P

I was deployed & fighting combat in Ramadi, Iraq in 2005 when this album was released. I was not sure if I would ever see my kids again, and often used this song to galvanize my will to do everything and anything to make it back to them alive. Every single time I hear this song it takes me back there, and I now weep for Chris Cornell as he lost his battle with substance abuse & depression. Hope much of his music saves more people as there is just too much pain in this world for many to handle.
Tom said in a interview that he still has to have the music sheets in front of him for this song because Chris Cornell actually wrote most the guitar work on this and Tom said it was difficult for him which gives Chris huge credit as a all around artist when someone as good as Tom had a hard time with it
When I look back I remember being pissed off when Rage broke up and then pissed off when soundgarden broke up, then Audioslave is born. Not pissed anymore lol R.I.P. Chris
My GF is not a rock music fan, yet she likes and enjoy a few songs. For this particular guitar solo she said something that gave me chills: "that solo is the reason why the guitar has 'Soul Power' written on it".
I was visiting my mother a few years ago, she mentioned that did I know that Chris passed it was some how a topic of conversation between of her and friends. I said of course. I was a late teen early 20's when "grunge" was was popular. (Born in 70). I pulled up this video and turned up the volume as loud as I could and turned on the closed captioning so she could read the lyrics, as she is deaf and couldn't actually hear his voice or the music but could feel it. When it was over she said "He looks sad" R.I.P my friend.
Every time I hear his voice, I think about how under appreciated he really was. Even when he died, it felt like it was overshadowed. But that's just how guys like this are. Amazingly talented, but never truly celebrated for their talents until their deaths.
I am old enough to remember when Elvis was first on the radio in 1955, but I still think Chris Cornell is the greatest singer of all time. Damn I miss him.
That line “I’ll wait for you there, like a stone” is so deep. Unending love, eternal. Thanks for this reaction. You remain my favorite reaction channel.
This song just rips me open everytime I hear, especially after Chris passed away. From that very first mournful guitar chord, to the last note, it just firmly embeds itself into your soul, never to leave.
He actually gives me cold chills & occasionally shed a tear, & that's not easy 4 this man2 admit. I can count on 1hand ( maybe2) vocalists that can do that. Layne is 1 of th others
The beauty of this song is the band members did just enough to make you realize how good they are without doing too much and not allowing Chris' vocal to be the star of the song. That is really hard to do when you are such good players. Everybody always wants to go all out and be the rockstar. Real skill is knowing when to be the rockstar and when it is time to reign it in and allow things to breathe.
And on I read, until the day was done and I sat in regret for all the things I've done. For all that I've blessed and all that I've wronged in dreams until my death I will wonder on. Rest easy Chris
selw0nk I absolutely disagree, Chris made a song of a man in pain and agony but so much depth and emotion. He longs for love and care or death to come and end his pain. This song *needs* to be heard.I fully respect your opinion though
Man. I still can't listen to him without crying. His death really hurt me and blindsided me too...it was far too soon. RIP Chris. We'll always love you!❤🌹
Bro, not only did they get to perform with Zack and Chris, the dudes from Rage also recorded, performed and toured with Chuck D of Public Enemy and B-Real of Cypress Hill as the group Prophets Of Rage. One of the sickest shows ive ever seen.
My all time favorite voice! Chris and Otis Redding are my favorite voices ever. So much power, so little effort. They just open their mouths and this comes out. Breaks my heart that they both died early deaths & took this away from the world.
I listened to a lot of music growing up, but there's so much you're reacting to I haven't heard, so I'm going on this journey with you. It constantly surprises me how much music can affect a person.
You said it. Like no other. As far as Morello and acoustic, check out his solo work after Rage And Audioslave, he put out more really personal work as The Nightwatchman.
Chris Cornell . GOD Bless YOU HEART and My Your Soul Reast in Pease, there will neve be another vocalist like you. You were and always be the Lyrical God !! RIP brother !!!
Love your reactions and appreciation for the musical gifts Chris Cornell left with his fans.Guess we'll never know in fact what drove him to take his life.Suicide doesn't hurt YOU it greatly hurts the ones you left behind
Cornell always said a song means whatever it means to the person that is listening to it, which is so true. When he was asked what he wrote this song about and said It was written about a very old man who's family and friends had all passed away and he's just sitting there like a stone waiting to die. Very deep man Chris Cornell was. Miss him everyday
Im glad to have found this band, chrises singing fucking sits you down and punches you in the face with emotions. Its pure emotion and pain inside of his voice, a voice like no other
Love this song every time I listen to it makes me cry 😭 it was one of my abuelitos favorite song so it hits hard every time I listen to it cause I can hear him say ay mija como me gusta esta canción (oh mi girl how I like this song)

Speaking of deceased musicians, one of my favorites is Andrew Wood. When he died, the guitarist and bassist for his band went on to form Pearl Jam. I highly recommend listening to anything from Mother Love Bone, or even Malfunkshun.
Some voices can't be replaced. Chris, Chester, Layne all had voices that can't be touched by others bc of the distinct sound and raw emotion they had. You feel their emotion thru your speakers into your heart.
Murillo guitar and Chris Voice worked so beautifully together. After being medically retired from the Military I was driving truck when I 1st heard this after being medically retired from that after another Dr visit. I listened to this album all the way home over 1700 miles knowing I’d never work again.
It's 2022 now, and I still can not listen to Chris sing this song, or Layne sing Nutshell without tears running down my face. I don't think I will ever get over the loss of either. RIP Chris & Layne.

Chris best Voice on rock ever
Very well put
The only singer I ever mourned, truly a terrible day for me.
He wasn't underrated at all. People loved his music for years. He just didn't go around all pompous and wanting to be in the media spotlight.
