My amazing husband has recently surprised me by fixing a pantry shelving system into an area of the basement, so I now have an actual food storage room in addition to my tiny kitchen pantry. It has been so amazing and I can’t wait to implement your tips. Thank you and God bless you!
I can only dream of having a pantry 😂 Being in a UK apartment, I have a "kitchenette". I literally have an upper and a lower cupboard (that's 2 doors total, not 4) for food items! The other 3 of each are all the cutlery, crockery, utensils etc. plus laundry and dish washing stuff. Snacks are in baskets on top of the upper cupboards, and my oils, vinegar and cordials are in a skinny cart next to the fridge-freezer 😂 It sure was tricky going from a full kitchen to this setup! Anyhow, your pantry is *beautiful* ; great job! ... I'm jealous! 💗👏😅
I used to live in an apartment building what every suite/apartment had a storage room. Each apartment (I only lived in two apartments over 6 years in that building), I set up that storage room as a pantry. It helped keep tiny galley kitchens clean and somewhat organized
You have a food storage room too?!? Wow! I thought this was your only pantry space. I did enjoy seeing your organizational techniques for the food closet.
When we moved into our present home, we had to turn a “coat closet”, in the utility room, into a pantry. We also removed the rod and added shelves, leaving enough space at bottom to place a rolling cart with drawers to be used for paper wraps/products. It works! TFS
I love your contentment for every pantry you’ve had. We recently moved and downsized. I have struggled with my new pantry. Thank you so much for this video.
If you have any space to the side of your refrigerator, Amazon sells these wonderful shelves on wheels that are meant for that extra space. There are five shelves total. I use them every day and love them! I store all of my nuts, different chocolate chips, sugars, flours, etc. in them. This added a ton of storage space to my small pantry. Thank you for the great video!
I knew about apples with other produce but not about onions and potatoes not being good to store together so I will be making a change. Thank you ❤! I recently found ants in my bag of sugar, so I will be keeping my sugar in a container with a lid from now on.
Kimmy your video has come out at the perfect time. My husband had the brilliant idea of turning our hall entry closet into a walk in pantry. We’ve lived in our home for 21 years and that one thing has made me the happiest woman. I have been wanting to get some organization in it and now you’re giving me the inspiration I need.
Kimmy, I have NO pantry! 😭 I have bought containers for all my baking items and made a cupboard just for them. The rest I try to organize as best I can in the rest of the cupboards. I would love to get a rack of some kind and put extra food on it and maybe my bigger cooking ware. I guess you have to make due on what you have. ❤
We have a medium-sized pantry in our kitchen. However, 3/4 of the pantry is full of parrot food for our flock. So, my dad lets me use two cupboards as a pantry for my snacks, smoothie and salad ingredients, etc. I'm so glad that you are giving us some solid tips here! Ciao, Erica
We are in the process of working out a FUNCTIONAL kitchen floor plan in our 1938 home. The kitchen is original, it’s a 11x13 galley style with one wall of uppers and lowers and the sink and the other wall with NO cabinets or counters, just a free standing stove and fridge. So, the range is going to the wall with the sink, though there will be only 15” of counter on one side and 2ft on the other separating the range and sink, then on the other side of the sink will be counter top then a short el for the dish/glass/silver ware cabinet like a mini china cabinet. The other wall will hold the fridge on one end with a narrow pantry unit with no shelves to the left of the fridge for the vacuum, broom, mop and bucket and the other end will be a 4’ deep and 5’ wide pantry and in between a run of lower cabinets and counter and above will be the microwave centered and a glass front upper on either side. Not having enough kitchen storage is frustrating and because of that, one has to walk from the kitchen through the dining room and into the utility room to get regular items or food.
I live in a 1999 model manufacturer house and my pantry is on one side of my refrigerator in my kitchen its like a floor to ceiling height 2 cabinets doors. Pretty slim. So i have 2 cabinets on one side of my stove built in microwave where i put my spices extra flour, sugar etc. And in the 2 cabinets on the other side is where my extra coffee, teas, dry coffee creamer, etc. and and my coffee mugs and cola - cola Christmas glasses are on the bottom and top on one side in those cabinets.😊
My pantry is a closet but it is deep. So i do a front section and a back section. Those see through bins from Walmart have made organizing and making things easy to pull out so easy.
I went from a house with a walk in pantry to no pantry! So we took the hallway closet and turned it into my pantry. We have accordion doors so no use of doors! The shelves I use turntables with labeled large mason jars and the container store bins like you. One shelf I got can storage from Amazon. It’s not my old walk in closet but it’s working great and better than nothing!
Mine is like that and I found clear bins worked best for organization, you can see what is in there, like flour pancake mix or breakfast items and things like instant potato's or dinner things, still small but at least I can group things in those bins. It is a struggle! Overflow I use the top and botto of my coat closet wtih bins you can't see if but labeled! I even put one of those can holders in another downstairs closet where my vaccumes lives!
Hi, new to your site!! I have water heater closet cahanged to “pantry”. Had handyman install wire shelving installed and added ceiling light. Place for bakeware, plastic ware, and instapot. That’s my pantry , thank goodness 🎉
I love how you did your closet pantry. I have one too. I may try that door hanger. I have some bag hanger things that came with the house but I'm not thrilled with it. I don't use it the way it should be. I do have those containers and some others that are like them. They are great and keep items fresh. Thanks for the video!
I have a closet of a pantry next to my kitchen. I use a door system for smaller items and leave the shelves for my bigger items. The majority of my shelves have see through containers, jars, or open boxes. I have zones for different types of food. My overstock of store canned items and home canned items I store in the basement in my kitchen/canning room. It’s not perfect but it works for me.
I don't have a pantry in my kitchen. I have open shelving instead of a fitted kitchen as our house was built in the early 1800s. I have 2 large shelves above what I call my baking bench plus the end of the bench but I keep most things in my pantry in the cellar. It works for me.👍
When we moved into a home literally half the size of our last home, I had to get creative. I don't even have a pantry area in this kitchen (ugh). I now have an extra bedroom that I'm turning into my pantry though. I rarely have company come and stay with me so why not. My son is planning on building a nice shelving set-up in the area that was the closet. I currently have metal shelves in there. Heavy duty shelves will line the rest of the room.
I have lots of videos to help you! I fact a whole playlist ruclips.net/p/PLwd5vL7_778nlw7Y71nHT68xQ_7En4e9M&si=i3BKng6MWj4EOOE2 And ruclips.net/p/PLwd5vL7_778knPDU_PipNTXus4rJXvlrA&si=9TIWPnoEkWaGcDuX
I hear you Kimmie. Currently we are awaiting a house to be built. Upon entering into this townhome, we had no pantry at all! Haha. However, there was a nice sized office in the garage. Well, my husband removed and switched some items and walla, I have a good sized pantry like your last house. It's amazing and I am spoiled. It's nice for now, I may even have my husband build us one later if we don't have a bigger one. So for now living life haha.
I'm sure you can find some space there in the rooms around the kitchen (or wherever) to fit a tall cabinet pleasing to the room but inside it can be your extra pantry. Switch out a piece of furniture that is "eh" and replace it with a better, taller piece that will suit your needs. Just a thought. Now, I'll watch the rest of the vlog. LOL
❤wow! Omgosh! Your pantry is giving me anxiety....but at least you have a pantry. We have shelves that have to share all.the dishes plus small kitchen electronics and food! No.pantry! My husband came alone from out of state to see the home and decided on the spot to buy it. Within 1 year we had to replace a non working stove, bad water heater, the roof, the dishwasher, plumbing problems,....Yada, Yada. But HEY, it has a pond😂
I went from a walk in pantry and huge basement to closet pantry and no basement. We downsized big time. 5 years in and it is still a huge challenge. I rearrange constantly but it never lasts. I know I have too much stuff but I cannot be a minimalist. I love my stuff. 😢
I so agree with zones - it really does make sense to do things that way. Do you have a coffee/tea area in the kitchen where you can put your drink mixes, lemonade, and cocoa mix? If so, you may be able to free up some more space in there.
First time watching! Thank you for the great ideas. I love the clear containers that you got at Wal Mart! Will look for those, for sure. Didn’t see a link for the over-the-door rack from Home Depot. Do you have a link for that? Looking forward to watching more of your videos.. 🌺🌺🙂
You & I have the exact same closet pantry. I MISS our old house that had the beautiful renovated pantry (or even the one before we tore out that kitchen completely & redid everything) & I HATE our little bitty closet pantry. So I’ve adapted a few things to make it work for us. We have a tea/coffee/drink cubbard & an espresso machine on that countertop underneath that cubbard… & the entire countertop on that side of the kitchen is dedicated to drinks ~ coffee, tea, protein shakes, hydration packets, etc. I also have a spinning shelving/mirror/cork board/hooks thingamabob 😂 there are 4 or 5 deep shelves in that spinny thing (in the school room/old dining room/game room/craft room, yeah yeah, I know lol 😂). So my closet pantry itself… I have a couple of the shelf organizers that you can add an extra shelf ~ UNDER the shelf. I use 1 for bread like sandwich bread or hot dog/hamburger buns & the other one for tortillas or hold the extra buns. The floor ~ I have all of our canned/jars of food. That way I don’t have to worry about the weight of all of the cans or earthquakes shattering any of my jars. Thankfully we rarely have anything more than a 2-3, if even that, but crazy enough, Oklahoma DOES have earthquakes. The next shelf up is things like condiment replacements, salsas, oils, relish, pickles, etc. Also holds the pasta & a rattan basket of beans & rice still in the plastic packaging. The next shelf up after that is a hodgepodge for sure. I have 2 BIG rattan baskets. 1 holds all of our spice MIXES & the other one holds our single spices… mixed like taco seasoning or seasoned salt or even those specialty spices you get from pampered chef or one of the other ones, single spices like Garlic or bay leaves. It also holds snack items like popcorn in mason jars or single serve snacks like meat sticks & those are on little plastic shelving that makes it easy to stack but easily accessible. The TOP shelf is pretty much anything baking wise like sugar or flour or honey, but also my oxo containers of rice or beans or even pasta (that have been opened). My door has a plastic well, actually more like a mesh shoe pockets type of shoe organizer. I put all of our to go cups in the pockets Like tumblers, hot & cold thermos containers ~ if they’re still wet, they go in upside down & the lid goes into a drawer to be put on later …once they’re dry, the lids go on & the cups are right side up… makes it easy to find what we need on the fly.
❤ these ideas. You have taught me a great many things. ❤ P.S. I tried the Ava's Crispy Coconut Rollers from Sam's you suggested. OMG. Oh boy are they addicting. 😋
I know you’re probably getting burnt out doing this, but please know we love and miss you. Especially us who have only been with you a short while. Be well and safe❤
Mine is a closet with deep shelves! I hate it because you can’t see the things in the back! I want containers for fridge that has prepared parts of a salad so we can make ourselves a good salad easily!
I like my Better Homes and Gardens containers better than the OXO. I also have a couple of Rubbermaid lock containers that are pretty good too. I don't like the OXO as much. Still I use them all in my pantry. You are between a "Lady Bug" and a "Butterfly". That's from the Clutter Bug RUclips channel. Lazy Susans. Nothing gets lost at the back of the shelf, and you can get the hardware seriously cheap at Home Depot. I have about 10 of them in my pantry.
Crystal light has aspartame. Super bad for you. My sister was so achy and didnt know why. Was better after she stopped drinking it. Took about a month to feel better.

That is awesome!
I keep my bread/bagel/english muffins in a DT basket in my refrigerator. I no longer lose these types of items to mold (especially in the summer)!
Use your French fried onions crushed up instead of breadcrumbs or oatmeal in your meatloaf or meatballs. It’s so good!
Yum!
Oh my!😀

Converting our small bedroom into a pantry. 1 son is out of the house the other prefers the garage room. So it makes it easier.
Have you seen the hanging mesh bags you can store onions in?
I have. I am thinking of doing something like that

I keep onions in the fridge but not potatoes. How. long do potatoes last in the fridge?
