The upcoming Direct is exciting…but should we really expect a ton of huge announcements? I don’t think so, but what do *YOU* think?
I think we'll have to get at least one major annoucement, besides Prime 4. UNLESS, they have something crazy with Prime 4 like really good looking multiplayer. However I do think Prime 4 will be cross gen. Remember, they want to sell 13million Switches this year.
I think you're right. Having said that I think certain remakes could be exciting for me. Also there could be a new game from a smaller franchise like Yoshi or something. I think we all got a little spoiled getting so many great games in 2023. Now the industry is entering a slower period, and that is okay. We will still get some great games just less of them. Can't wait for Switch 2!
I'm expecting mid-tier. Lots of ports, a few solid surprises. All the big releases are being saved for Switch 2 but it's a good time to give people some long requested remasters such as those Zelda HD remasters, Metroid Prime 2 and 3, etc. Nintendo still has a MASSIVE amount of games they can draw from that are unavailable on Switch. Rumors suggest (as in possibilities): Pushmo, something Zelda related, Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War remake, I saw Star Fox and F-Zero rumors. Who knows what we will get but I'm expecting it to NOT suck but at least being "alright". I think if Nintendo was really lacking in content, they would have saved Nintendo World Championships for that Direct. Also probably would have spread out Paper Mario and Luigi's Mansion more. We'll get a few key titles. Most likely either ports/remasters or new smaller scale projects. Which can be fine depending on the content. Could still make fans very happy. Time will tell.

Prime 4 is a yellow flag at the moment for me. Besides a small mention at the presentation when Dread was announced we haven’t heard anything and it’s concerning.

I've been hoping to see metroid prime 4 again for years and I'm not giving up now, and I'd be ok If that's the only big game they show, but obviously, I would like to see more.
It feels like the time for any Metroid news but at the same time I have been burned before so I really don’t know what to expect.
If all there is is old games getting ported to the switch thats very exciting and all i really want and am expecting

It's the Switch's final full year. The console is already packed with amazing titles. Its best years are behind us. I'm ok getting a low-key Direct with maybe one "OH CRAP" moment. It's a transition period, let's just enjoy the ride!

Most Nintendo directs didn't have "4-7 crazy big reveals" they typically just have 0-2. For this next one, it will probably not be anything really exciting. I'll be happy if there's a Zelda release
Right now i feel it's more logical for Nintendo to release Remastered versions of Metroid Prime 1 and 2 before Christmas on current hardware, then save Metroid Prime 4 for the next machine to make it move consoles.
They’ll probably gonna do what they did to Pikmin 4 when release both 1 & 2 afterwards shortly.
Yep. I can almost guarantee Metroid Prime 4 would make any Direct, no matter how awful, an automatic 10/10 for me. I am absolutely with you on that one haha 😁

I don't think there'll be a September Direct. I think they will just go directly to the Switch 2 reveal, literally one or two months later.

If it's backwards compatible then all games are cross gen because they will work on the next gen. I think you should temper expectations on metriod prime 4. With backwards compatibility then the game will just work.
The only games I’m pretty confident in showing up are Prime 2 & 3 HD. I think Nintendo wants to keep the Metroid train rolling and it’s been almost a year and a half since Prime 1 Remastered. The cherry on top is a tease of Prime 4 that says coming 2025 at the end. That would confirm at least in my eyes, that it will indeed be cross gen.
We haven't had a direct in 9 months and Nintendo has to still support the switch for this holiday season and its still their main platform. It'll be huge.

Only 3 big things I’m expecting is Prime 4, a Mario Party and the rumores FE remake and that’s it. I’m not coming in expecting 3D Mairo, Pokemon, Zelda, or even Donkey Kong and Xenoblade. Just 2-3 B or C tier sized games is all I’m asking and expecting

For those who’ve given up hope on Metroid Prime 4:
Metroid Dread floated around for 20 years. Many people including myself didn’t know it even existed. 20 years later Dread revealed itself and was better than anyone could imagine. Whenever Prime 4 comes out it’ll be worth the wait.

I agree, I don't get disappointed with any showcase anymore, I just don't let my hopes get too out of control, and I'm better off this way. But I don't expect Metroid Prime 4 to be featured in this Direct, I still think it's a cross gen title. I'm expecting the rumored Fire Emblem 4 remake and hoping for some surprise announcement, like a new Donkey Kong. Nothing major, but it will be more than enough for me, I'd be very happy.
I think you’re right to tell your fans to temper expectations on the June Direct 2024. We finally have confirmation of a Switch successor reveal sometime on or before March 2025. I am also expecting there to be some type of Metroid announcement. Not basing it off any rumors, just based off the void of Metroid Prime 4 info despite Nintendo confirming this game years ago and the Switch generation is in its twilight already. If there isn’t any news of MP 4, then for sure in the September Direct 2024. But I also wouldn’t be surprised if September had an Indie Direct or a Partner showcase.

I honestly cannot wait for this direct. But while I do have my fair share of hopes for what will the direct feature, I'm already getting the feeling that it won't be anything like SUPER major y'know?

If Geoff Keighley was asked by fans regarding Kingdom Hearts IV and told them not to expect news about that and to keep our expectations in check, then Nintendo fans should consider keeping their expectations in check

You make it sound like Nintendo is trying to keep many games so the Switch 2 can launch with like 20 games lol. No system launch has more then like 4 games. Plus Switch 1 will still get stuff for at least 1 year after Switch 2 is out.

Good to see you on here again, Rob! With all the hype around the Xbox Showcase, SGF, etc., I was literally just thinking yesterday that it’d be nice to hear your thoughts on the Nintendo side of things.
I’ve all but entirely switched to Xbox over the past couple years (after being a lifelong Nintendo-only guy), but I do hope that Nintendo can please its fans well enough this month. Not expecting anything from them myself, but Prime 4 and the Switch 2 would definitely regain my interest should they unveil either one.
I don't know i've been playing Peach showtime and if that is the bar for "family/young" audience then ...
One boss features harsh "bounce back" when touching object and some tricky platforming it's pretty intense sometimes

I really don't think the Switch 2 is coming out until holiday 2025, especially if it's not coming out in Nintendo's fiscal year. I have no idea what to expect for this. I'm expecting a few smaller things. One or two games for this fall, and one for next spring, that will keep switch 1 alive one more Christmas season. We probably will not get a full direct this September either. I think it's genuinely gonna be like the transition from N64 to GameCube or Wii U to Switch, where it is DRY completely for a year or so, The timing just didn't line up well. At least Nintendo will get the launch year to themselves. Sounds like Xbox isn't putting out a new system until 2026 and PS6 won't arrive until 2027.
Yeah I think it is going to be a very uneventful Direct, just to wrap up 2024. I still think Metroid Prime 4 will be revealed around this time next year though.

Obviously it will be smaller, but I think they will still have some bangers to show. If not then I'd say having a direct at all is pointless. But with no smash, no mario kart, and splatoon 3 wrapping up, what can they show for the second half of the year? I think we'll get a big game and a "smaller" game, the latter likely being a new Mario Party

Personally I think I won't too bothered by any announcements in this Nintendo direct. I'd love for Metroid Prime 4 to be revealed and if that's all there is that interests me then great, less money to spend.
As I know Nintendo said: "it's only for the switch not the successor to the switch."
So my mind was immediately like, ok nothing big for the end of life cycle then. How my mind came to that conclusion I'm not sure, maybe hearing them say that was my indication that they have moved on to focusing efforts onto the 'switch 2'.
My expectations for Metroid Prime 4 being at this direct is very low I do have hope for more GameCube remasters and remakes.

Bro, if ANY of the games that have been rumored to come to Switch in the last 6 years get announced(Wind Waker/Twilight Princess, Oracle remakes, new 2D Zelda, Prime 2, 3, 4, New Donkey Kong, Xenoblade Chronicles X, Dragon Quest 3 remake) it will be a 10/10 Direct. All it takes is just ONE of those.
Typically they try to release a first party game per month, occasionally two at a given month towards the end of the year and they might announce titles for Jan and Feb. So I’d expect around 6 or 7 first party announcements for 2024 and maybe 1 or 2 for early 2025.
And like you say these games aren’t gonna be banger after banger, maybe a Mario sports game, Mario Party, remasters or ports etc and 1 major game.
If Prime 4 isn't at least teased in this direct it's not gonna come out period lol. They need to show us a life sign. Even Half Life 3 seems more real at this point.
Nintendo will do what Nintendo does take their time drag it out too long overthink things, and have a boring lackluster 2nd half of 2024. Not to mention team Cherry being MIA. I hope you’re right about Metroid prime 4 and prime 2-3. Coming this year.
Most people will not be okay if this June Direct doesn't have anything special mostly cause we've been spoiled recently in the past 2 years with all these new great games and dont realize that's the bar of our excitement now.
The 3DS had remakes coming out on it for 2 years after the switch came out

When it comes to Nintendo Directs, I always go into them with zero expectations. Yeah, ZERO. I consistently expect there to be absolutely nothing that interests me, so no matter what actually gets shown, I'm never disappointed. Can't really complain since I've always managed to come out of these Directs with at least 2 to 3 more games to add to the backlog. Granted, I do hope we see Metroid Prime 2 and 3 remasters, since I adored the first one and I refuse to play Prime 4 until have the prior two games under my belt. Even so, I'm not holding my breath. I'll take ports or remasters of older games I never got a chance to play for whatever reason, but above all else, I'll just wait and see. No, I don't give a shit about leaks, so don't even ask.
That said, there's one thing out of this June Direct that I actually want, and that's for it to air sooner rather than later. I just finished my fourth quarter of college, so it would be nice if they aired it earlier in my break.

I have low expectations for new stuff however I’d be excited to see Metroid prime 2 hd and or WW/TP HD.

Star Fox Assault Remake is the make or break of not just the direct but the switch era.
I'm mostly expecting remaster/remake announcements, and at least a heck of a lot better than when they were phasing out the Wii U and there was like 2 games announced for that last year.
Though I'm hoping in vain they announce Xenosaga's remaster as there's been quite a bit of teasing with that in Future Redeemed and the random announcements for Xenosaga related stuff this year. It's a Bandai Namco IP though and if it isn't DBZ or Naruto it probably won't happen or will randomly happen. Still surprised Baten Kaitos got remastered, but I'm guessing Nintendo had some sway on that happening.

Nintendo has goal to sell 13M by end of financial year 2025, it has to be more than ok direct with just straight HD ports.if Nintendo are to have any chance of getting to that sells number
Expect MP2 for Summer and MP3 for Winter. We're not getting any MP4 till next console and i can guarantee you that the Switch Version of MP4 will be a shadow release..

If we get 6 ports of older games and 1 big blockbuster like MP4 then yeah it's a solid 10/10. Now will I be shocked if we do get MP4 announcements absolutely will I be disappointed if we have this direct and no MP4 news or showing no cuz for the last 5yrs I've been disappointed cuz we've had no storyline news or even gameplay shown. I think if we don't get MP4 announced then they will announce remasters of Prime 2 and 3.
As much I would like to see all happen getting tired of youtubers posting leaks/rumors with the Twilight Princess/Wind waker thumnail along with Metroid Prime and Super Mario galaxy 2.
Would like to see Wind Waker/Twilight Princess, F-Zero GX, Galaxy 2, and Pokemon Mystery Dungeon all at the direct, but not expecting any of it.
And some others wouldn't mind seeing that I know is completely unlikely are Viewtiful Joe, Lost Kingdoms, Killer7, Second Sight and Final Fantasy 13 as well as Starfox Adventures and Assault.
I could see Nintendo at this Direct show 20 Farm Sim games and the big November game Paper Mario Sticker Star. And that's all they show no Metroid, no Mario, no Zelda, and no Donkey Kong. I hope Nintendo wouldn't do that, but Nintendo has had really bad Directs so it wouldn't surprise me.

People are still stuck in the E3 mindset. It doesn't exist anymore! June is no longer the month where the biggest announcements are made. If anything, that will be September from now on but probably not this year, unless Nintendo reveals the Switch successor for a holiday season launch which is unlikely.
The more I think about it the less I think Metroid prime 4 is a switch 2 game. It’s just not on the same tier of popularity of Zelda, Mario, or animal crossing
