The AI taking defensive positions on hoth is a base game feature. The AI in Battlefront 1 is leagues better than 2. It really makes me wish the AI could be ported over.
The a.i. in Battlefront 1 are too hard to the point of being annoying. The difficulty in BF 2 is perfect to give you enough challenge to feel like they're smart (sort of) and not push-overs, but at the same time they let the player feel like a total badass killing loads of enemies per life and able to accomplish many cool feats-- the so-called "Battlefield moments." In the first game, their aim is so good that playing as assault gets you killed after maybe 1 or 2 kills, so you're forced to play sniper from a distance, since their aim is typically worse after a distance.
3:04 yes, there were cockpits in the original version and it was one of my favorite elements in terms of adding to immersion which was really lacking in battlefront 2

The best part about the Hoth map in both BF 1 and 2 is that the AT-AT's have a weak spot on the neck where there's no armor. There was a very brief moment in The Empire Strikes Back where a downed AT-AT was blasted on the back of its neck and blew up. This was expanded upon in the expanded universe. It's amazing attention to detail. I don't know if the AT-AT's in EA's Battlefronts had that weak spot.
I did when I was 8 or 9 and played this game! I remember Wedge shooting the neck and Luke saying good job. I played so much that I did notice that it did much more damage.
This looks so amazing! I'd love to see more Star Wars games feature massive battlefields with hundreds of troops on both sides clashing in epic and glorious combat. That would be so awesome in an FPS or RTS.
BF1 one always had better maps and more interesting ones, and the colour palete I thought made for a more visually appealing game over the more grey BF2. I also didn't like how they added big splash damage alt fires to many vehicles, which made their main weapon somewhat redundant and really just there for show.
Most if not all of the vehicles in BF2 have vastly reduced splash damage for all weapons compared to BF1. In BF1 even the basic lasers on vehicles have enough splash damage to blow away whole squads of infantry, and the lasers on the AT-AT and AT-TE in particular have insane blast radius. They massively nerfed the splash damage in BF2, with the primary fire having basically none, and the secondary anti-armor rockets and lasers having only a very small blast radius.
All false. BF2 always had better maps and more interesting and the color palette makes it more visually appealing game over the dull BF1. Also there was no splash damage Alf fires to many vehicles and the main weapons weren’t redundant
5:49 Shack, you sent that AT-AT's health down to one tenth of it's maximum health at least in one pass with the Falcon. The Turrets may have finished the job but you almost killed it in one go!

I love the original battlefront! I always wished they had something like this in an official game but to actually see this from a mod almost makes me cry. 2004 battlefront is my favorite and I miss having the weapons take actual ammo like they are supposed to over the stupid over heating system in the new battlefront games.
Blows my mind that game companies won’t just re release updated versions of their classics. Destroy all humans 1&2 were done right. Now I’ve been looking into Team Beef , they’ve made Jedi knight 1-3 all in VR. Doom 3 as well.
I am late here. Battlefront brings back memories. But as someone who has played EaW for over a decade now I believe modders are the sole reason older titles get a second look by developers. Good examples are Sins of a Solar Empire and Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines. Sins 2 is in development after a decade of Sins 1 being released. Mod content and community tournaments kept the developers updating the game and now they have been making the sequel after all these years. Bloodlines 2 is still in development. Everyone thought it would end up being Swansong. But thankfully it wasn't. But the original released in 2004. We are in 2023 with a sequel in development because the community kept Bloodlines alive. They even include the unofficial community patch with the GoG edition of the game. And now here we are. Will EaW 2 be over the horizon? I did just stick a 4090 in my PC.
I'm playing this again and I'm realizing how rough this game was around the edges, but it's still one of my favourites. BF1 will always have it's unique charm, yet BF2 was definitely a direct upgrade.
Loved the o.g. SWBF games. I also loved how the maps offered more freedom than the later DICE games. The latter games were corridor maps. The battles in the DICE games are also smaller. Seeing the animated start menu of SWBF brings back a lot of nostalgia, too. I was so disappointed in how DICE did their SWBF games. I expected them to have the large, all arms battles like they did in their main line Battlefield games like BF2, 2042 (Titan Mode!), BF3, etc. But their SWBF games were very small with limited, narrow maps.
Going prone wasn't part of the mod! This game was just legit. I can't hate too much on the sequel because it had Revenge of the Sith, but the gameplay was way more fast-paced. This one allowed for more map work, prone camping, and careful tactics.
You ever wonder if the reason we can't get massive fights like this with the modern games is because graphical fidelity hogs so much effort that devs can't do the same thing they used to be able to do....and on a PS2 disc no less?
I love BF2 but after recently replaying some Battlefront 1 I have to admit it had the better maps, better ai, and I think better gameplay. That said, BF2 definitely has more to it but man if the maps and AI would've been recreated it would've been an even better GOAT.
Battlefront 2 is my favorite, but it's close. The maps in the first game, along with the bonus objectives made for some of the best dynamic gameplay. As the Republic forces on Geonosis, you could capture the command posts, which was how most people played it. But you could also drain the ticket count, and you had the three ships in the back of the map to aid in that. My brother and I would always grab gunships and go destroy those while out troops fought on. Freaking loved that. And deploying Jet Troopers from those same gunships to fly into the primary command post of the CIS to create a pincer on the battlefield just completed it all. And then Bespin Platforms. Oh my gosh, that map ruled lol Using fighters to get to hard to reach spots, then just sniping. The open corridors with no cover that made for intense firefights, all while an intense air superiority battle raged overhead. And then Hoth, man. Some of the best asymmetrical gameplay ever. The Rebellion's strong defensive positions, a squadron of T-47s and their Vanguards firing off rockets made for a seemingly impenetrable wall for the AT-STs, but with the AT-ATs behind them they would slowly but surely advance, and have the chance to knock out the generator. One thing my brother and I loved to do was land on top of the AT-ATs as pilots and Wookies and drop explosives on the necks. It was a great vantage point too for snipers wanting to farm kills. Man, I'ma make this mod happen now lol idek if my laptop can handle it but its gonna happen
The best map will forever be bespin cloud city and rhen var, and telling all the clones around you to hold position and letting them leave all at once and having a big battle when you meet the enemy.
I'm currently playing a DICE game single player for first time, Battlefront2 on *VR* vorpx, it feels like a religious experience, trick is while in ships is not to move head much just move your eyes
In the 2nd one if you played heroes vs villains mode, everyone played as heroes or villains, instead of like 4 people being able to grab a hero. Like 10 or 14 people running around as Jedi, Sith, boubty hunters, it was fun
Something that always annoyed me about the new Battlefront games was the fact multiple people couldn't crew 99% of the vehicles. Making them all 1-seaters is such a confusingly bad decision by DICE. We need the old Battlefront, but updated.
@@CodeRed001 no not this mod but battlefront 2 is in vr. They are currently working on something like this tho. Rn they are working on character skins like phase 1, 501st, etc. droidekas are also in the works

I totally wouldn't mind a major graphics hit if a game could allow us to have 200+ players on the battlefield at once. This is what star wars is suppoed to be.

man i used to be stupid with the clone sharpshooter. I could hip-fire 2 people in seconds with the sniper rifle at literally any distance. I used to duel heroes with my point blank hip fire sniper headshots and perfect doge rolls.
damn i guess its time to get back in there. 18 years later.
I can believe it bro, BF and BF 2 were among the greatest SW games ever made. Thanks to full bot support I still play both today since release
Oh Nice, definitely trying this out. Definitely could prone and have first person cockpits in original though.
Battlefront 2004 was always my favorite, the graphics, sound design, and gameplay always felt tighter and more polished than Battlefront 2.
You had cockpit in the original Battlefront, but they removed it in Battlefront 2 (but added tons of other stuff instead). From what I remember
Love how the clone sniper rifle is literally an MG42 with a scope
You could always go prone in the first Battlefront...but the NPCs never did it if I remember right.
god I have so much nostalgia for that menu and loading screen
this game also has much better maps then any other battlefront game that came after
It's times like these that I am glad that I digitized my old Battlefront DVD. :)
Lil fun fact, going prone was an OG feature of battlefront
That Hellfire Tank droid out here Tokyo drifting on geonosis lol
If I knew how to make my own mods, i would be working on the original battlefront games all day
In the 2nd one if you played heroes vs villains mode, everyone played as heroes or villains, instead of like 4 people being able to grab a hero. Like 10 or 14 people running around as Jedi, Sith, boubty hunters, it was fun
IIRC, you could go prone in the OG Battlefront even without mods since it's a vanilla mechanic, at least it is on the xbox version.
I've always preferred battlefront 1 to battlefront 2 for numerous reasons so this is awesome
Shack says the falcon doesnt do alot to the ATATs meanwhile he almost kills it after 7 shots lol
Something that always annoyed me about the new Battlefront games was the fact multiple people couldn't crew 99% of the vehicles. Making them all 1-seaters is such a confusingly bad decision by DICE. We need the old Battlefront, but updated.
Playing this game in vr is insane. They are working on vehicle support rn (which is possible) and it’s gonna be sickkkk
What? Is this mod in vr?
@@CodeRed001 no not this mod but battlefront 2 is in vr. They are currently working on something like this tho. Rn they are working on character skins like phase 1, 501st, etc. droidekas are also in the works
I liked the lack of balance in this game. You could get a challenge, even against the AI, if you picked the right faction on the right map.
It's great to see a mod for this game. But. These mods always make me dream up a dozen more features. They're tantalizing.
Dope… I’m gonna look into this mod today
prone is actually just a feature BF1 had that BF2 didn't carry over
I totally wouldn't mind a major graphics hit if a game could allow us to have 200+ players on the battlefield at once. This is what star wars is suppoed to be.
Dude the at-at models look amazing
Last I knew, you could always go prone in Battlefront 1 without a mod
Really miss all the SW games prior to Disney purchase. This one and #2 blow the new ones away.
...FUCK! This....seeing classic battlefront...just HITS HARD!
The recon droids in 2004 battlefront call down orbital bombardments
It's a wonderful time to be a gamer.
I wish they merged 1 and 2 combining the best of both.
Been playing Galatic Conquest on BattleFront 2 (2005) recently. Always a good time.
I will always love BF1 more due to it's amazing maps.
Oh god...I've watched so much EaW series that all that I can hear is one of those episodes.
That Falcon is so cool, but soooooo OP. Like those cannons melted the AT-AT
Shack the 6 legged walker is the AT-TE
Damn, got it before me.
Hey XP I’d love to see you do a play through of the CIS on Republic at war your info’s we’re so cool and creative made me feel like I was watching well made fan made content with backstory.
You could go prone in vanilla. You could also go prone in vanilla.
First battlefront was my favorite to play in first person as a kid since the first person cock pits for practically every vehicle plus you can roll left and right only and prone roll left and right only this was way more of a tactical starwars shooter haha plus I was like 6 while playing this and currently still own it on my Xbox hahah
8:05 AT-TE=All Terrain Tactical Enforcer, Don't thank me all at once
Was just on nexus looking at bf1 mods thank you
You mention going prone as part of the mod, but im almost positive that was just a feature of the classic SWBF that was taken out of SWBF2.
Some of the maps in the first battlefront are really cool, the wierd thing though is that in some versions of battlefront 2 there are the battlefront 1 maps in the game but they are not available by default which never made sense to me
