    I sold my Epix Gen 2 and now have the 7 Pro and totally happy with it. I didnt like to glow like a christmas tree in the evening. MiP is fine for me and I didnt expect these kind of details in maps, too

    Once again, outstanding job, Fit!
    I regularly wear the original 7X Sapphire Solar, Oura Ring Gen 3, Apple Watch Ultra, and the Whoop 4. Weight training, indoor cycling (BikeErg), treadmill walking, and rebounding (mini-trampoline). Hundreds of each type of workout captured.
    Although my workouts are not even close to CrossFit intensity or complexity, I’ve been weight training for well over 55 years.
    Here is my experience with these health wearables:
    Sleep tracking: Oura Ring Gen 3 is the best, closely followed by Ultra/Whoop/7X (all 3 pretty much similar and excellent).
    Heart rate accuracy during rest: all are equally terrific.
    Heart rate accuracy during exercise: Ultra/7X tied for first, closely followed by Whoop 4.
    HRV: Whoop 4, followed by Oura Ring Gen 3/7X/Ultra (all excellent)
    Recovery (Readiness Score or similar metric): Whoop 4, followed by Oura Ring Gen 3, then a tie between Ultra (through the great Athlytic app) and 7X.
    Body Temp, Resting heart rate, blood oxygen: same as Recovery score result.
    Fit, your analysis is fabulous. I have no doubt that the 7X Pro is better than the original 7X. But for yours truly, my wearables do a magnificent job. 😉
    Keep up the great work. And thank you! 👍👏💪

      Thank you so much for the write up! Jealous of your tech! I am working on adding a ring to the mix but it's not in the cards currently w all of these high end watches coming out to test! I do think Apple's HR tracking vs the elevate 4.0 still dominates, but they dominate in very no other fitness/training/wellness area haha. Thanks again!

    Is the screen clarity better on the pro model because it’s solar and NOT sapphire solar? Just curious. Your pro model looks like the solar and the regular 7x is sapphire.

    Thank you for this information. I was able to get the 7X sapphire solar with the titaniam band at half price but didn't realise there was a pro version.
    I've upgraded from a samsung galaxy 4 watch that needs daily charging and is only 40mm so the fenix 7x SS is an absolute godsend

    Hi, very good review, you cleared up a couple of doubts I had. I ask you, I am between Fenix 7 or 7 Pro solar, there is a difference of 130 dollars.
    My question is, would you pay that extra? I think the most important thing that helps those of us who do CrossFit is the sensor, but do you see it really relevant to go an accuracy of 0.9267 to 0.962?

    Thanks for another great video and honest assessment of what I suspect most agree is an iterative upgrade in the pro series. Looked at another way, it seems that if the only "substantive" upgrade is the HR sensor then Garmin has maybe missed the market here. I say that because for almost all reasonably serious amateur athletes who are concerned about HR, they will use some sort of external sensor (especially for high intensity) in which case the new sensor is not an upgrade trigger. For people using Garmin as a daily wear for those wellness issues and perhaps some steady state cardio like cycling or running the older sensor is probably perfectly fine. Apple will continue to eat into Garmin's market at all levels whilstever Garmin continues to ignore two things. Firstly, Garmin's prices need to come down. Secondly, value for money especially where Garmin continues with software differentiation across models where hardware differentiation is not present.

    • @fitgearhunter
      @fitgearhunter  Год назад +2

      Yes I agree! The prices are high, but actually they have had a bit of negative inflation w the whole 955/965 series, and added a million aspects of extra value. But I agree that the market doesn't support as much this many $900-1100 products! I do think they are innovating on the training and wellness side light years ahead of all others, and I don't think Apple will offer anything substantive for about two years or so - we will see! Great comments and so well stated - thanks for sharing them all

    Thanks so much for posting this head to head. Garmin is not very good at marketing the differences. I am coming from a 935 and trying to decide what to get. I wanted a 965 solar with the new HR sensor, I love the lightweight of my 935. But sadly they do not make one. So the Fenix 7 pro solar seems to be the most future proof one to get. I do tend to keep my watches a long time. Hence why I have been so impressed with my 935. I killed 2 fit bits before deciding to get a serious piece of gear.

    Do you have a tip for altimeter on fenix7x. Somehow my watch is completely screwed and when ever i start a walk or a run it goes up to 80 meters in the first 100meters of activity and then just slowly goes back down to 0 all the way up to the end of my run or walk, i run and walk flat, no mountains what so ever. Tried resetting it or calibrating both alti as barometer but it just doesn’t work. Paid alot for the fenix 7x but now it is just not functioning anymore

    There isn't even the software for the ECG on the Pro version, that's merely for the future update, it's up to Garmin, it may not happen. I will probably have to wait for the Fenix 9 or 10 to have the glucose monitor, build-in microphone, camera as well as the ECG monitor before I consider to upgrade.

    I really liked my 6X Pro and it is still a great Garmin watch. The 7X offers slightly more battery (solar charging is really not so great), improved GPS performance and accuracy and the LED flashlight. But if you can buy the 6X Pro new and at a good price go for it

    • @fitgearhunter
      @fitgearhunter  Год назад +1

      Yes the 6X is still a great offering, but ONLY if you pair to a chest strap or arm band for HR tracking in workouts. Much less accurate sensor for any higher-ish or truly high intensity workouts

    Thanks for the detail. Doesn’t really seem to be much “pro” in the new models. No new major features and not enough to blur the line with medical devices yet. I don’t care that Garmin watches lack smartwatch features because that’s what will kill battery most; but, Garmin needs to improve the pixel density on the MIP going forward.

    • @fitgearhunter
      @fitgearhunter  Год назад

      Yeah I guess it depends on what device you are coming from! The Pro definitely offers a big increase in heart rate accuracy for intense exercises for people just wanting to wear the watch alone, and the rest is just more gravy until ECG comes out (which I don't personally find interesting)

    But, does the pro version really have really have a better (clarity) screen? Only if you use the brighter backlight it would seem. Both the Fenix 7 and pro models still look like they have the same "muddied" screen to me (without the backlight). If I have to use the backlight all the time to get a decent view to the screen I might as well just buy the Epix. However, I don't want an epix, I want a Fenix with a clearer screen (without needing the backlight). I would have upgraded, but now I will wait. Maybe Garmin will figure out how to improve the clarity of the fenix screens down the road...

    • @fitgearhunter
      @fitgearhunter  Год назад +1

      Yes it definitely has a better screen! And I wouldn't wait too long, I highly doubt the MIP technology can advance much further, but who knows!
