  • Replacing f150 condenser on my 1992 4.9 liter

    I'm replacing ALL of the AC components in my '90 F350. I found that it was ineffective to try to clean the evaporator and condenser. Both were easy enough to get out but I can't find any exact replacement for the condenser. They are all smaller, thinner, different bottom mounts, many with the parallel tube design instead of serpentine and many less tubes.
    Now that it's out I will try to clean the condenser again and reinstall it.

    I was just about to give up and pull my rad out to get the stupid thing installed when I came across your video. That sharp angle toward the grille techique is brilliant! Saved me pulling the rad out, awesome video.

    your video is amazing, Im sitting here laughing my ass off at your commentary drinking a beer. I have a 1996 f150 I am looking to change the condenser, not happy about having to spend the time doing it but seriously this changed my mood about the job entirely. well done bud have a good one!

    video would be better and more helpful if you could explain how you freed up the bottom mounts for the condenser, you did a great job thoroughly explaining the top, and positioning of the coil to pull it out and put it back in. I greatly appreciate the help to attack this project! Keep up the good work.

    that would have been a good time to do it

    The O-ring connections don't need to be tightened like shit. The O-ring does the sealing and not the threads. Add some refrigerant oil to the O-ring so that it will have some lubrication to it to prevent any binding and just snug it up until you get to the point where turning the nut starts to require some torque then give the nut just a little bit more of a turn. That's it; you don't want to completely distort the O-ring or crush it to the point where it will split and cause leakage.
    This was a good fucking video and I don't give a shit who thinks otherwise. Thanks

      Hi Bruce, that was a pneumatic vacuum pump from amazon. It works pretty good as long as yoo have decent air compressor. Cheers

    How hard would it be to install a ac condensor pusher fan in front of my ac condensor?

    • @joeheilm
      @joeheilm  3 года назад

      Hi Terry, i am not sure how tough it would be...the front end was designed to make even simple tasks nightmarish. I am guessing that if it can slide through the grill area it should be easy to do. However if it has to slide past the core support things are gonna be tough. Good luck

    my 95 f150 with the 5.0 is loosing coolant, it’s not a blown head gasket and it not a leak and the engine cooling system, could a leaky AC condenser cause my coolant level to drop some?

    • @joeheilm
      @joeheilm  3 года назад

      No, the ac system should have no relation to the coolant system. Good luck.

      @@joeheilm I spent 23 years in the army and it made me chuckle, so I'm no prude. Do you have any suggestions on to properly bleed the good R134 and capture it? My condenser is bad, So, do I need to add more oil to make up for what may be in it?

      @@emilmaki3001 i have no idea how to capture the 134. I think you are supposed to add 1 ounce to accou t for the loss, but you should double check. I am doung research myself, i bought a 95 f250 which needs a compressor....that will be a friday night project. Cheers
