I loved the look of the Matich Racing bikes, they used to sell road bikes painted the same, always wanted an FZ750 in their colours, looked awesome.:-)
The biggest road race meeting that ever happened at Winton was in the mid 80s. After MA was corporatised the sport fell into a hole. I think we've seen the best of it, and it will never come again. If you ever get the chance, have a talk to Robbie Phillis. He was back racing historics until recently, but is now O/S with his son who is racing.
Mate, I absolutely loved it! The sportsbikes series (production racing) of the late 80´s and 90´s is awesome and new to me watching (i´m a kid of the mid-seventies ;). The bikes there I know from my youth (CBX, VF, XS, CB, FZ, GpZ and so on...)- I´m an obsessed petrolhead, and youre channel is on my playlist now, mate. Many many thanks, dude.
I recall reading the race report in Bike SA back then, also the article on no 7 - which was basically uncrated just before the race. In 2010 had the privilege of riding a stock standard RZ in group C at a track day, it really handled well and easily kept pace with the modern bikes (ridden in that group) - thanks for uploading the video

Awesome to see the RZ500 win against the Honda, bring back the 2 strokes and the kerosene cowboys!! I loved my RZ500, wish I still had it!
