“This boss was a reality check for a lot of people” back when it was the current raid tier, the guild I was in had 12 successful different raiding teams during wrath exploded when the GM and officers quit. Only 2 raid teams remained, mine and another. Our team was 5 bosses deep while the other couldn’t clear that automaton boss. The other raid lead asked to see why we were clearing it so much easier and took a spot on our team for 1 night, followed our strat, and still couldn’t make it work. That team didn’t make it past that boss for weeks until they completely outgeared it.
jesus christ, the only reason people wanted classic vanilla before was because we couldn't play it after cata came out, no one gives a shit about classic cata because we can do that shit in retail smh
We can't....Deathwing isn't actively attacking the world anymore in retail (even if you choose to do quests and level up in the Cata zones through Chromie) 😅 😂
I haven't touched WoW in like 3 years, its just stupid to make a cata server, no one needs it cause cause everything is still in retail (don't care about deathwing flying around randomly killing people, you want that kys every hour or something)
thats the thing that always amuses me, the people who happily say they quit after x expansion, coming back to play the stuff they skipped, probably for shallow as hell reasons. I look forward to MoP classic and all the people who quit simply because they saw pandas coming back to play it for the first time.
Cata was literally perfect at the beginning the raids werent easy because you couldnt get any epics from heroics. Cata only went downhill with the raidfinder but before that it was actually good.
Cata gets a bad rep cause the game was actually challenging. Heroic dungeons were no joke and neither were the raids. I remember Firelands being quite challenging (for a normal raiding guild). Only reason I ended up disliking it was mostly cause of Dragon Soul.
@@therealtephy8024 I feel like thats been proven to be a bad thing over and over. Whenever end game gets really hard less people play it, simple as. Saw it with Ulduar in classic wrath, massive dropoff despite that supposedly being one of the most beloved raids of all time. Hell even back in vanilla the drop between BWL>AQ40>Naxx is intense. For certain players Catas gonna slap but for the core audience I'm assuming there will be a drastic drop in player count. Thats assuming they even keep it in the original balance state of release, more likely they'll go with the post-nerf versions of everything.
@@therealtephy8024 On top of that a lot of people forget, or never experienced just how hard heroics were the first couple weeks. They put TBC heroics to shame pre nerf.
End of classic was firmly with wotlk. TBC is old school enough to still have the classic feeling but wotlk was very streamlined and formulaic and cata is just wotlk but with a new coat of paint. People are about to see just how many people in classic were playing not because they wanted classic, but because retail was too hard for them.
@@gamerbodkonianYou are braindead. There are no TBC servers and when Cata releases there will be no Wrath servers, so no, people can’t CHOOSE. The only thing they can choose is if they want to play vanilla classic or cataclysm.
Truly wish I was born at the right time to experience this when it first released, I'm relatively new to WOW so I'm kind of glad I'll get to experience this for the first time (though I've heard it isn't what it used to be) Well, it'll be new to me so I'm okay with that. At least I can say I'm older than the game lol.
This is literally the expansion that killed the game and yes I'm using LITERALLY correctly. Sub numbers tanked and never recovered. When over 50% of your playerbase quits the expansion isn't good. Quite possibly the dumbest decision they could have made.
no you are not, its only the one that killed the game... in your opinion. the game is still kicking, just in a less glamourous state, regardless of how you view any one expansion.
So much nostalgia, best expansion imo, or top 3 along with Wrath and MoP. Played all content in Cata, and streaming era started to fully take off in Cata with own3d and twtich a bit later. Good times, in game ofc.
As someone who never got to play WoW as a kid, I am happy all these old expacs are out. I never got to play Classic, TBC, WOTLK, Cata, etc. My folks always had an excuse for me to not play WoW. Now I got my shot. Everyone who already played/don't want to play don't have to. I for one can't jump into retail. It just seems like a lot of fluff and catch up while everyone who has been playing since Vanilla has all their fancy shit and are just droning through stuff or not even playing at all. TLDR: As someone who never got a chance to play, Classic is a blessing in disguise.
Just one or two more classic expansions to go, then WoW classic classic will be unleashed, then my personal fav, WoW TBC classic classic, can't wait!!!
Hot take from me, but Cata is the most fun I've personally had in WoW. Protection warriors were amazingly fun to level, healers were cool, and it felt pretty balanced. Maybe it was because I was 14 at the time though lol
Would have loved it if they added some of the cut content like the Neptulon raid and changed the last patch. Don't think it will happen but would have been nice.
Cataclysm was the expansion that I actually played after being just an honest noob in late wotlk. Looking forward to doing the raids again after so many years.
I like Cata and will definitely take my classic chars through it as well. Best thing about Cata tho, we get a new 3 hour video of Asmon's shenanigans from Cata era.
wrath was everyone's favorite xpac and yet they are going to move the wrath servers into cata, which essentially repeats exactly what they did originally ruining everything. they need to keep the wrath servers and add cata as a separate version of the game.
Could actually make me play a bit since I did no raiding in Cataclysm, I only played Arena, so could be interesting to at least see the raids. Plus I love the leveling zones in Cataclysm, the best there ever was imo, I'm a Vashj'ir fanboy. So yeah, while I think Cataclysm holds A LOT less nostalgia for most people, it's the first Classic release where I personally have no raid experience, which could actually make me try it out, we shall see.
I had my fun with private servers and classic. So much so I got carpal tunnel and spent every waking moment playing it. But its time to adult. Seems like a great time to start.
I'll return for the inevitable Mists Classic maybe 😂 Even Wrath Classic I haven't found that fun. For me, I've had the best memories in Classic and The Burning Crusade Classic.
Cata was the beginning of the end, announcing Cata is telling players that you don't really care about the classic game and are just going to release all the expansions again.
How far are they going? I thought the point of classix was to one of the reason relive the world it was before Cataclysm. Is blizzard going to go all the way to like warlords of dreanor or hell even legion? Would not surprise really
As far as players would let them, which is 100% too far ALREADY. We should not have gotten to wotlk but even then we 100% should not have gone to cata. Completely defeats the purpose because while it's arguable for wotlk, cata is 100% modern wow.
I started playing at the end of wrath. but my fondest memories are in Cataclysm. But I have no interest in going back and replaying that. It will never be the same as the first time anyway. Also, can people stop hypin Classic so much? You've played it, you've spent years in private servers, years in blizzards Classic servers, you've played hardcore classic and now you want Classic+? Just leave it
Nostalgia must really be over 9000 for those players asking all these "new" Classic versions...I mean they don't even realise they are just diluting and dividing their own playerbase further and further by asking Blizzard for all these new versions of that game
I really wish they would release permanent servers. I never got a chance to really play cata so I'll end up trying it. I have a friend who we just got to play WoW and I would love to take him through vanilla...and then move onto a TBC server and let him experience those raids and then move onto WOTLK. I think one server for each expansion would be good enough after the next "version" comes out. That being said I'm not super hyped about Cata if i remember right it's when classes started getting their typical "builder - Spender" spells. I still to this day hate holy power.
I liked the bit where Deathwing said 'it's cataclysm'ning time' and did the cataclysm. One of the best cataclysm ever. Props to Hurricane though, best trailer yet 💙🙏
Compare this with the WW cinematic, where a giant orc warrior shaman and a battle-scarred knight king... discuss their feelings. This trailer: war and distruction. That trailer: *emotional validation.*
While I didnt really like classic at the time, it did bring about some changes that I eventually realised I loved. The streamlined talent system (even if it did ultimately cause the leveling pains by removing perk points), and the tracked and cohesive storylines for each zone are 2 changes that I really like. Story, villain, seeing my fav zones be completely changed? eh not so much.
Blizzard at this point is like Gamefreak. The games they make aren't anything to write home about But the custom content made with their IP is fantastic
it has to end after cata though there is no way they can do mists of pandaria classic, so they have a few years to give us classic plus and continue with vanilla expansions
cata was dope. who cares if they re-release every expansion. it doesn't give or take from vanilla or wotlk. people are going to play what they want to play regardless.
Cata WAS a lot better than people thought it was because the people who hated it started WoW with WotLK and suddenly had to learn how to actually play an MMO when Cataclysm was taken back in the direction of Naxx 40 era classic and TBC.
lol imagine re releasing a game and all its expansions all the way up to current release. its crazy, and i think blizz are going to do it. get ready to experience wow going down hill all over again guys...
Does this mean that Wrath of the Lich King Classic is going to roll into Cataclysm? Or will there be a separate version specifically for Cataclysm Classic?

@@gamerbodkonian classic did in fact roll into tbc, they just made era servers that you could transfer over to. while tbc also rolled in to wrath, but theres no tbc era servers and wrath will then roll into cata with no wrath era servers.

Crazy how there's gonna be 5 versions of WoW running simultaneusly. Classic Era, Classic Hardcore, Season of Discovery, Cataclysm Classic, and Retail.
Lineage moment
And coming soon Pandaria all by itself because apparently that's where the "Classic" era actually ends in blizzard's eyes.
jesus christ, the only reason people wanted classic vanilla before was because we couldn't play it after cata came out, no one gives a shit about classic cata because we can do that shit in retail smh
We can't....Deathwing isn't actively attacking the world anymore in retail (even if you choose to do quests and level up in the Cata zones through Chromie) 😅 😂
you still have classic. exit stage left. make sure to let the tears fall in the bucket as you exit.
I haven't touched WoW in like 3 years, its just stupid to make a cata server, no one needs it cause cause everything is still in retail (don't care about deathwing flying around randomly killing people, you want that kys every hour or something)
you got your 3 classics. its stupid to you, but not to others. you will be ok.@@MrCaptnrex
I quit WoW after Wrath, Im excited to be able to experience cata for the first time
thats the thing that always amuses me, the people who happily say they quit after x expansion, coming back to play the stuff they skipped, probably for shallow as hell reasons. I look forward to MoP classic and all the people who quit simply because they saw pandas coming back to play it for the first time.
@@Shiirow yeah I just graduated highschool by the end of wrath and idk I can't remember why I quit really, just went separate ways
Al'akir ... I still remember both of my raid's hunters trying to get the jump+dissengage and fail, over and over again... good times
Im pretty sure Hurrican did the teaser video for Wrath classic as well, cool that they kept him on. He does amazing work :)
Yes he did that. plus he was in Blizzcon too so he was that IRL
Cata was literally perfect at the beginning the raids werent easy because you couldnt get any epics from heroics. Cata only went downhill with the raidfinder but before that it was actually good.
I will agree for the most part honestly. Good quests, story, raids
@@therealtephy8024wrath babies were surprised they couldn't sleep during heroic dungeons and quit.
@@therealtephy8024 On top of that a lot of people forget, or never experienced just how hard heroics were the first couple weeks. They put TBC heroics to shame pre nerf.
Wow a trailer that gets me pumped for a expansion that actually made me quit the game until BFA? Crazy.
Ur gonna enjoy cata this time around for sure
Cata!!!! I'm so ready for it.
So will this spell the end of Classic?
End of classic was when burning crusade was released
End of classic was firmly with wotlk. TBC is old school enough to still have the classic feeling but wotlk was very streamlined and formulaic and cata is just wotlk but with a new coat of paint. People are about to see just how many people in classic were playing not because they wanted classic, but because retail was too hard for them.
classic, classic tbc, and classic wrath are not going away thats 3 games you can CHOOSE to play. now you have a 4th. you will live
@@gamerbodkonianYou are braindead. There are no TBC servers and when Cata releases there will be no Wrath servers, so no, people can’t CHOOSE. The only thing they can choose is if they want to play vanilla classic or cataclysm.
@@petnaby Retail is too hard for my PC. It's a potato. I'm happy with playing all the expansions I've missed though.
I remember tanking everything up to cho'gall with half a ten man worth of pugs. Had no chance to even think about heroic
I want mist of pandaria to come back. they could just skip this and go straight to that. Pandaria was the best expansion ever
Yeah the pandas where pretty cool.
I wish I had as much time to play as I did back when Cataclysm came out, I want to play death knight, druid and shaman in Cataclysm again.
you can still do it ! Dont need all the time in the world to enjoy it. I play casually on wotlk and loving it.
2's with 2 blood dk's in full pvp gear. That was the shit.
@@Elaborance Switching out of Blood Presence and using Death Strike to heal 15% max health each attack was crazy.
Every match was either an instant forfeit or it was a draw from timeout. Blood was brooooken. @@CottidaeSEA
50% ? Bro Cata held more than 10M subscribers for pretty much its entirety wtf are u talking about
So much nostalgia, best expansion imo, or top 3 along with Wrath and MoP.
After a few more expansions they'll be caught up to live. They'll have to relaunch vanilla Classic again. The cycle begins anew.
Just one or two more classic expansions to go, then WoW classic classic will be unleashed, then my personal fav, WoW TBC classic classic, can't wait!!!
I can't wait for the war within classic classic hardcore+ in 10 years!
tbc handsdown the worst xpac of the franchise
Lmao at the people calling it the worst expansion. Everyone who says that clearly never played BfA, Shadowlands and WoD.
Don't think it will happen but would have been nice.
can't wait for another turtle made it to the water Classic
Cataclysm was the expansion that I actually played after being just an honest noob in late wotlk. Looking forward to doing the raids again after so many years.
I like Cata and will definitely take my classic chars through it as well. Best thing about Cata tho, we get a new 3 hour video of Asmon's shenanigans from Cata era.
Are they going to shut down Wrath for Cata, like they did for BC? I would like the option to play Wrath as the time capsule it was.
Cant wait for Dragonflight Classic
dont forget War Within Classic
Y’all really letting blizzard release the same shit twice and get away with it
wrath was everyone's favorite xpac and yet they are going to move the wrath servers into cata, which essentially repeats exactly what they did originally ruining everything.
they need to keep the wrath servers and add cata as a separate version of the game.
why is this deathwing is so smaller than the original :D
Could actually make me play a bit since I did no raiding in Cataclysm, I only played Arena, so could be interesting to at least see the raids. Plus I love the leveling zones in Cataclysm, the best there ever was imo, I'm a Vashj'ir fanboy.
So yeah, while I think Cataclysm holds A LOT less nostalgia for most people, it's the first Classic release where I personally have no raid experience, which could actually make me try it out, we shall see.
Same if I play it will be strictly for pvp and good class design. Everything else about it doesn’t interest me
I had my fun with private servers and classic. So much so I got carpal tunnel and spent every waking moment playing it. But its time to adult. Seems like a great time to start.
Um, I thought y'all played Classic to not play Cataclysm?
they played it to not play Shadowlands, Cataclysm is a far removed from shadowlands as shadowlands is from vanilla.
I feel like everyone forgets how fun classes became in Cata, not my favourite expansion by any means, but everything became interesting to play
I heard that PvP was amazing in this expansion so I'm actually very eager to play. Considering playing Shadow Priest
It wasn't
Yes, it was. I need to go back through my old PvP videos and see for sure or the start of the good stuff for PvP.
It was probably the most balanced state that PvP ever was
I'll return for the inevitable Mists Classic maybe 😂 Even Wrath Classic I haven't found that fun. For me, I've had the best memories in Classic and The Burning Crusade Classic.
Cata was the beginning of the end, announcing Cata is telling players that you don't really care about the classic game and are just going to release all the expansions again.
All good memories but I'm not the type to play something I've played 10 years old again, and also, to pay for it...
@@petnaby I'm definitely in the group that considers Cata the beginning of modern WoW. Everything before it was Classic WoW.
you will be fine. you still have your little classic, we can have ours.
Supply comes with the demand.
Well the point was to actually play in this old world, not to continue the initial cycle that rendered it obsolete in the first place, i.e expansions
When he said "I AM THE CATACLYSM"
someone in chat said "YOU ARE A DISAPPOINTMENT"
I laughed
Give us classic plus......damn this bs.
you still have your precious classic. you will be ok
lol I dont play that same ole shit.@@gamerbodkonian
i feel the same about vanilla. you hate cata i hate vanilla, and we both can play the classic versions of the game. so@@CptWhit3y
I'm fine with Cata. I just wish my main of mains wasn't stuck in retail hell and I could somehow bring him back in time.
If they remake the Madness of Deathwing fight to be something more... climatic... I would 'consider' playing it
Hurricane W
Cata L
I really wish they would release permanent servers. I never got a chance to really play cata so I'll end up trying it. I have a friend who we just got to play WoW and I would love to take him through vanilla...and then move onto a TBC server and let him experience those raids and then move onto WOTLK. I think one server for each expansion would be good enough after the next "version" comes out.
That being said I'm not super hyped about Cata if i remember right it's when classes started getting their typical "builder - Spender" spells. I still to this day hate holy power.
They straight up copied project ascension with the seasonal crap
I didn't play TBC or WotLK Classic, I probably won't be playing Cataclysm classic. I just don't see the point
I liked the bit where Deathwing said 'it's cataclysm'ning time' and did the cataclysm. One of the best cataclysm ever.
Props to Hurricane though, best trailer yet 💙🙏
wow
I actually bailed wow "retail" just before cata. Will I enjoy it? I replayed wotlk classic many months back and enjoyed it as tank
Idc if people dont like it I love cata and so happy to redo firelands
Yeah, this is where I get off. Though i'm glad I got to see old Azeroth, Outland and Northrend again. Good memories were made.
Compare this with the WW cinematic,
where a giant orc warrior shaman and a battle-scarred knight king... discuss their feelings.
This trailer: war and distruction. That trailer: *emotional validation.*
Is wow worthing getting into in 2023? Tried to get into it years ago but kind of need a new mmo to try and no life. Worth it?
From THIS moment onwards WOW went to shits......Deathwing KILLED Wow
While I didnt really like classic at the time, it did bring about some changes that I eventually realised I loved.
The streamlined talent system (even if it did ultimately cause the leveling pains by removing perk points), and the tracked and cohesive storylines for each zone are 2 changes that I really like. Story, villain, seeing my fav zones be completely changed? eh not so much.
I couldn’t give a fuck about Cataclysm
Blizzard at this point is like Gamefreak.
The games they make aren't anything to write home about
But the custom content made with their IP is fantastic
Dump on Cataclysm PvE all you want but Cataclysm PvP is some of the most fun I ever had playing WoW.
Enjoy fighting the double and triple blood dk teams that key turn until the match ties
it has to end after cata though there is no way they can do mists of pandaria classic, so they have a few years to give us classic plus and continue with vanilla expansions
At this point guess i wait for legion classic to finally enjoy the game
cata was dope. who cares if they re-release every expansion. it doesn't give or take from vanilla or wotlk. people are going to play what they want to play regardless.
They are making Cata look sooooo much better than it really was.
Cata WAS a lot better than people thought it was because the people who hated it started WoW with WotLK and suddenly had to learn how to actually play an MMO when Cataclysm was taken back in the direction of Naxx 40 era classic and TBC.
You never played it right
I think at this rate, Asmond is going to have to wait another 15 years for WoW Classic+ when they rerelease the rerelease of World of Warcraft.
lol imagine re releasing a game and all its expansions all the way up to current release. its crazy, and i think blizz are going to do it. get ready to experience wow going down hill all over again guys...
Great, now they're doing Cata classic and I have to play WoW again. This is fantastic news. Thanks Blizzard. Really.
I never played WOW, but that looks really cool.
Then I think you should start with retail, or Classic (not Hardcore though)
Does this mean that Wrath of the Lich King Classic is going to roll into Cataclysm? Or will there be a separate version specifically for Cataclysm Classic?
Roll into
classic, didnt roll into tbc. tbc didnt roll into wrath. do you not know there is 3 live classics right now and they are adding a 4th? instal the battlenet after creating account and your answer will be there
@@gamerbodkonianBro you are so dumb. There are no TBC servers. What are you talking about?
@@gamerbodkonian classic did in fact roll into tbc, they just made era servers that you could transfer over to. while tbc also rolled in to wrath, but theres no tbc era servers and wrath will then roll into cata with no wrath era servers.
i dont think so cause on my bney i have friends currently playing tbc classic and some doing classic as well as wrath as of me typing this out. yes you can transfer characters from one kto the other, but on my battlenet i have 3 options to pick from to play.

Relive the beginning of the end of a great game
Cataclysm was a decent Expansion
Hmm... Cataclysm was the turning point where WoW went down the crapper. Hard pass.
Guys, I'll take a page out of blizzcon 2023 and announce the next 3 classic expansions after Cata, Mist of Pandaria classic, Warlords of Draenor classic and Legion classic 😂😂😂
Who knows if you guys keep supporting classic they might give us DragonFlight classic 😂
Noooo. I love woltk more
I hated Cataclysm when it came out, but i've learned to love the expansion afer WoWs last few dissapointments. Cata is an A-Tier expansion
What is the point of a Cataclysm rerelease? Genuinely asking. 🤷
Trying to recapture the old game hype after they screwed it over the past 5-6 expansions
So people like me can play it when I didnt get the chance too
