But also I think yatchy actually is one of those people who in recent has grown to see the value in rap as an art form just listening to his recent stuff and watching some interviews, I still agree that him cosigning Ian dosent mean much from the cultures perspective tho
Yachty is NOT on Drake side. Dude was on dj mustard album. Yanno the dude who produced “not like us”. IF he was on drakes side he isn’t anymore. But that was never the point. Yachty made it clear from the start even though he’s friends with Drake doesn’t mean he was taking sides. He just cares for the music not the drama.
Bro, it's not about being white, it's about not caring about the culture. As Tyler said ,Mac Miller, Eminem, RA the Rugged man, Ill Bill had genuine love for that shit.

@@colefrostyBecause hip-hop was born from that. Hip-hop is literally born off the backs of black people in poverty just being creative talking about that experience. White rappers never make it in hip-hop as the greats because of this. Racial issues are integrated within hip-hop still to this day. People don’t know the history and culture and that’s the issue Tyler is touching on. White rappers get popular as a quick cash grab to the industry, Jack Harlow is a perfect example of this they get radio play but within the culture rappers like Ian or Jack Harlow are completely disconnected. Eminem and Mac Miller are the only exceptions.
@@colefrostyTo expand on this if there was a black person that rapped like Ian which there are plenty of them, then they’d be overlooked by the industry because they don’t have the face or skin color they’re looking for, also black rappers are expected to do more within the culture and get more creative with their own style, while a white rapper is automatically overlooked by the culture and is carried by the industry and a very white fanbase which is what a majority of America is. White rappers don’t push the culture forward they just use it to gain more money whether they want to or not, therefore they are perceived as not caring about the culture
He’s prolly upset that Iannnn is an industry plant(I’m not hating) but Tyler also being the super extravagant guy that he is could see Ian’s music as biting or boring I guess?

you guys are missing Tyler's sentiment its not about Ian taking influence Ian is a regular white kid capitalising off what his influences actually lived through...everything Ian says is literally just regurgitating what his influences have said thats where the mocking aspect comes in. it feels like Ian listens to hiphop and goes "oh well all i gotta do is say i'm tough, fuck bitches and have money in a fancy way" he doesn't go through any of the struggles most of his influences faced in order for them express what they did
yeah we get that but at this point no rapper goes through that stuff anything a rapper sais is either cap or is actually real so why are we calling out Ian only for it why don’t we call out other rappers for it?
He doesnt express anything within that culture. He uses his rich upbringing and “whiteness” in his music. He doesn’t pretend to be from a poor background. lil mabu does

Tyler is 100% correct. And that goes for all the other talentless clout rappers looking for bags. Rap is an art and it just gets taken advantage of. I guarantee by Tyler’s 9th album, you won’t hear anymore about Ian. His career has no longevity. Where is he gonna go from here? He is just another Lil Xan, 6ix9ine, and YBN Nahmir. There goes three different races btw. He is filler lmao. Nothing more than the commercial breaks from what you’re actually there to watch 🤷🏻♂️ people eventually get tired of the same old commercials. And this has always been a thing. It’s called being a “flash in the pan”. That is all Ian is. There will never be a world where it is ever worth facing these two off against each other. Does the 7 year olds drawing at the dentist office really stand a chance against the Mona Lisa? So I don’t get why some people are trying to compare the two now that Tyler gave his opinion. Who deserves more of the opinion on this topic? I would say Tyler definitely has the seniority here. If anything Ian should take this to his advantage and try to put some talent into his music, if he has any talent to put forward. And try to increase his longevity. Doubt that will happen tho. Never usually does with these kinds of “rappers”
Tyler is saying Ian is playing dress up in a culture he has nothing to do with. It’s *like* in the UK people don’t like posh white guys using slang terms because they’re just imitating our shared background…
so no diss to ian and his music right but i do take offense when a regular white boy blows up and having influences from black artists, im not saying he shouldn't be taking influence from them but HE IS MAKING FUN of the culture. i mean you don't see a white boy blow up from mac miller or eminem type of influences and i think there's generally an agenda with BIG INDUSTRY artists like lil yachty to put on these white rappers. ive never listened to ian's music and i never will!! like ima just put it out there, i don't see him lasting in the industry, PERIOD!! he kinda is a culture vulture because he's using it to make a name for himself. why couldn't he blow up from country or rock or shit like that? HE'S GONNA COME AND GO LIKE THE REST BEFORE HIM
He isn’t making fun of culture though. Lil Mabu is, Ian just rapping nothing, he doesn’t lie or make a fake persona. You’re just segregating it and trying to mix race with culture. Cultures culture, race DOESNT EXIST.

Rap and hip hop as a genre contribute greatly to black culture. I think Tyler might be calling it mocking because it doesn’t seem genuine from Ian and comes off more like a vehicle to make money Vs actually caring to make good music and contribute/add/ further the culture. There’s a difference between making shit that already sounds like what’s out to hop on the wave and making shit you’re passionate about. I don’t know Ian and I’ve only heard one of his songs, but honestly this is a problem with a lot of white people getting into rap, and it’s becomes even more of a problem with the added context of white supremacy where you can see a white person doing exactly what black people have been doing for decades yet the white boi gets the credit or is praised for it, when in reality it’s nothing new.
but we know ian isn't geniune can we just enjoy the entertainment? half the rappers in the game do it for money we gotta call out more than just ian right?
@@colefrosty Ian, same as Lil Mabu, is good at entertaining. The thing is they do it through rapping. Rap music isn’t typically created by people that look like (or come from the same economic standing as) either of them. A prominent example of a white artist is Eminem, who grew up poor, surrounded by addiction, and even faced addiction himself. Rap music has, since its inception, been an outlet for black artists to explain their experiences and struggles through a creative lense. Throughout the past few decades there have been a couple white artists who have also delved into the art. The thing is, because this genre is created and dominated by black artists, and due to white supremacy, when a white rapper blows up it’s a spectacle. They can take over the scene very quickly because people want to watch the underdog (especially when they’re one of few white characters) . They can become a superstar in a genre where it would have taken a black person double or more times the work to achieve that audience. Eminem, however, didn’t rely on his whiteness to get to the top. He was a story teller with stories of struggle, even some familiar struggle in black communities, to tell. He added vs leached. He showcased talent as well as respect for the culture he was becoming a part of. On the other hand Kanye, for example, came from a middle class family with very little to no economic struggle. However, Kanye made music true to him, it was engulfed with other existing elements of black culture, it was unique for the time, and so there was a place for him in the genre. Let alone the path he trailblazed for artists like him who also didn’t mesh with the gangster rap era and were now accepted by the culture. Ian, on the other hand isn’t anything new. He does make lit music, but isn’t really raw or unique. The only thing that makes him unique is his whiteness. Ken Carson makes music similar to Ian’s “Magic Johnson”. What I’m saying is, he is ultimately profiting of a wave that he didn’t start, but is riding the wave and climbing it fast because of his whiteness. The music he’s making is not unique to him, nor is it special. A lot of people make good music, but he is gaining traction because he makes good music and is white. He’s profiting off something he saw was cool and wanted to join in on. He probably has access to better studios and engineers than a lot of upcoming artists due to his background, so there’s an advantage. This all makes his music/career feel inauthentic and like a mockery of existing sounds in rap. That’s not to say it’s bad, I fw some of his music. You can be entertained by it, and it’s cool that you acknowledge that he isn’t genuine. He represents a portion of an existing virus though, just like drake w the commercialization of hip hop, as artists continue to enter the scene and blow up just to profit off it. With no contribution, hip hop dies. And that is why Tyler sees ian as a mockery.
I feel like the main problem people have with him is that he isn’t original. There is not a single quality about the music that I can see and think only Ian could make this. Every aspect of him from his beat selection to his delivery sound like a direct copy of somebody else. It feels like the gimmick of being a suburban white guy making this type of music is the only thing that makes him different in any capacity and that is going to make people feel weird about him. Eminem and Mac Miller had stuff about their music that was unique to them, which is why they are more accepted than he is.
if you like that might as well tap into his valedictorian deluxe from a few months ago it's hard. pretty short as well but it has more of his best songs
I honestly feel like Ian hasn’t been around long enough to make these kinds of judgements. I feel like most of it is surface based. To say he’s “mocking” them is such a weirdo elitist statement from Tyler.
Listen, I wanna know where any of this mocking allegations are even coming from. That’s my thing just because I want to know if these are just baseless accusations or if Ian has actually said he was making fun of or mocking anything or is this guy just assuming because this is starting to sound like what happened to Tyler, The Creator himself back when he came out because every other rapper Was talking shit about him because he was different and it was New like the same kind of thing happened when odd future came out on the scene people were criticizing it and calling it weird and New and cringe and stuff so I’m just curious on the specifics in the actual evidence of anything

We definitely not playing into his game and we’re not streaming his music . thats you guys. We don’t give a fuck about Ian. Half of these new age artist are carbon copies and lack complete originality. But it’s not about that’s he is trendy or white . It’s the fact that he doesn’t give a fuck about the culture . You don’t have to be that smart to see that he doesn’t care. There’s no effort in the music the beats the roll outs the music videos. Nothing. It’s just there to make money .he isn’t saying anything at all. It’s all a bite. And it’s not even a good bite… if I want to listen a BigBabyGucci or Yeat I would’ve done that five years ago. You’re the exact people Tyler is talking about . “who cares Ian is up and trendy right now that’s all that matters. Tyler is just a hater and just be out of touch. No, you guys are out of touch and don’t give a fuck about a culture that clearly other people do it’s not about race or even being white or even being trendy it’s about how all of you guys eat this shit up and defend it constantly . More than half of these people are literally clowns, and they have nothing to offer and you guys are even worse by offering opinions on a culture you are barley old enough to understand. Hip-Hop purists are just as annoying as boomer rock purists honestly. People have to stop mythologizing and making a religion out of Hip-Hop. It’s just a genre of music. An artistic medium.
See this is the real problem with the Drake effect. All these non hiphop fans cosplaying for the money is the problem. It’s not just a white thing either. Hip Hop deserves better than just another grifter. Do yourself a favor and check out the new Ye and Ty Vultures 2 album. Maybe if these grifters started copying Ye instead of Drake we would all be better off. You think it’s a good thing that some of the biggest artist in the world are making the most watered down boring music ever? Where are all the visionaries at? New sounds? Not coming from white grifters that’s for sure.
Videos like these are so annoying. Tyler basically had the same problem with Ian that Kendrick had with Drake, why are so many more people against Tyler than the Kendrick scenario? Also, really, you had to talk about the fact that Tyler called him white. The point of that is to recognize that it is even weirder when a white artist is using hip-hop as simply a way to collect money, because it becomes even more suspicious and obvious that they don't care for the culture. And in my opinion, Tyler is right. I'm sorry, but I can't stomach music where it's so easy to tell that the artist doesn't care. This is my main problem with Drake's music, it doesn't sound like he's trying or really cares at all for music. He doesn't love the music, he isn't genuine. It's annoying when something you care about, is used by someone who doesn't care. His basic raps are so boring, you can tell he doesn't care. Does this mean you can't like the music, of course not! And I know someone is gonna reply saying it isn't that deep, or that if music slaps, it slaps, and that music is music, but I highly disagree. I care for the art, I wanna feel like the artist is really putting their all into the music, otherwise, it's just boring and lackluster, and makes them unlikeable. Also, Ian is corny. Again, you can like his music, but he is nowhere near GOAT status (Like some Ian fans believe). You can't tell me to not take Ian serious, when that's all his fans and the industry do. How am I supposed to put Ice Spice in the light of being a joke, when she's rich and getting the whole industry to call her a good rapper. He may not be serious, but the industry is claiming him as a serious artist, and Ian himself even wants to prove that, thus, I am gonna treat him serious, and in that serious light, he has no love for the culture, and is quite an only ok rapper. This is hip-hop. Ian's work is a growing trend. This is serious. I mean, I feel like it's so easy to see how this is harmful. It's changing rap, making it more likely for people who don't care about it to just do it for a quick buck. I mean, Ian def got inspiration from other people like Ice Spice, it's very clear. The only thing I disagree with Tyler on, is hating on Ian so early. Mac Miller was a frat boy rapper in the beginning, so I want to do the same with Mac, and give Ian time to learn. However, this begs another huge question. You said in the comments, "He's only been making music for 6 months, why is there already so much hate?", but to fire back, if he's only been making stuff for 6 months, why is he already getting called the GOAT? You can't genuinely convince me Ian is in the same conversation as the likes of Tupac, Kanye, JPEGMAFIA, and Tyler. GOATs are people who pioneer rap and change the genre, or make something incredible. Also, I have another question for you. If all you need to be a GOAT is the vibes and the music being good (No culture recognition, no seriousness, no deeper meaning, no pioneering of a part of rap), then does that make Kendrick NOT a GOAT. Songs like We Cry Together by Kendrick are def not vibes, yet he is still considered a GOAT. Again, this is due to his experimental nature, love for the culture, and pioneering of specific rap styles, specifically in the West Coast. I'm gonna leave it simply like this. If a rapper doesn't care for their art, then I don't care for them.
i really appreciate this comment finally someone who can see both sides and see opinions but still respect them while adding reasons. i found 90% of the comments to be toxic or just ripping apart ian in cruel ways making the situation a lot more toxic than it needed to be. i will say i think those of us who enjoy ian and his character don't hold him very highly in conversations on the best lyricist or, aoty, creativeness or originally we just enjoy quick catchy bangers like 'magic johnson' bc to be fair he has good flow and can rap. artists that are more talented and push the boundaries, that care about the art (tyler is a prime example) are held a lot higher up as he worked his tail off for a decade to be here and i will always respect that and give credit to him. but hip hop has a wide variety of trash to goats and im a fan who loves both! i just love hip hop and debating it so thanks for keeping it civil and not throwing a fit or making it personal:)
@@colefrosty Yeah, sorry for the saying the video was annoying 😭😭😭 I think it's really just difference in tastes.

I personally can't stomach quick bangers, but that's just taste (Doesn't make me better or more valid, I just get bored with bangers). Ian just gives off vibes that he's doing a shtick, a character, but it's fine to like his music. He just gives off vibes of just wanting money and to use rap, and he isn't really passionate. Again, fine to like him though. I don't think Tyler was attacking though, I think he just cares about rap and the rap scene A LOT. I feel like he's very caring for rap, thus wants the scene to have lots of artistic integrity. Thanks for being civil! :) (Also thanks for appreciating the comment)
