I don't understand why some people view him not being with Nicola as a personal rejection. I think they can't separate him from Colin and the fantasy that created for them. Luke and Nicola are clearly close and great friends, since you can't fake the real affection between them. Not all great relationships have to be romantic. They said on many occasions that they have a close relationships as friends. Yes they flirt and have great chemistry, but that doesn't mean they lied to people. It is sad that he likely kept it out of the media because he was afraid of the negative backlash which is a pretty sad commentary about social media and how people behave. I think the critique was more about the Hollywood cliché of a 30 something actor dating an early 20s girl, the fact that they’re in completely different decades in addition to their 8 year age gap etc.

There is most certainly a connection between Luke Newton and Nicola Coughlan. Unfortunately as humans we look at love through a narrow window. I feel Luke is to Nicola as Charles is to Camilla (King and Queen of England). People have a "connection" That goes beyound sexual ...it's on a different level. They may not be a "real couple" on screen or off" They are a couple in a very, very strong "friend zone" in that kind of love Nicola could careless about his sexual romantic love of this woman. Whatever these two have going ...Luke & Nicola have this friendship bond...is more beautiful than one built mainly on sexual attraction. I fear the current girlfriend or those to come, will see this connection and they will have trouble dealing with it.
