Charging 1-2% extra by the merchant for payments made through credit cards is illegal. You can complain to the bank that has provided the pos machine to the vendor and the merchant can be blacklisted. One can negotiate with the merchant/seller by telling him that you are aware of the RBI notification regarding this and could complain and hence he should share the cost instead of passing the entire amount on to the customer.
Agree. But that is the reality. I have visited big shops in cp delhi even there shop owners ask for 2% extra if you wish to pay via Credit card.
@@CardsBanking i know😔 but one needs to be headstrong. Technically these guys are going against the law and take people for a ride in their times of need. The banks provides them with pos machines and charges them a fees which they should pay as it is increased business for them. How many people carry cash or have money to pay right away. Its increased business for the retailer and for that rightfully he pays fee to the bank. Problem is that we never complain or try to negotiate and hence they take us for a ride
@@PuneetVadhera lol there are several businesses where people don't even earn 1% consider buying mobile phone where margin is maximum 200-300 on 10000 mobile phone and then people ask to adjust 2% which will be an loss making deal at the end.
My sentiments are with you and totally empathise but at the end of the day its business and the costs needs to be accounted for in the businesses plan. Why should the customer bear the entire burden? Also , consider not offering a pos machine and losing out on customers? When margins are low, one needs to have volumes. Consider it as a marketing cost tonattract more customers. Do you think banks gain from having Atm machines? Consider a 2% charge by bank everytime you go to widraw money from atm,Wouldnt you object? If i carry 10000 cash, am i not also losing on interest of 50 days which I would have earned using a cc. Its a win win for the retailer who charges 2% and also has the pos machine as a utility to attract credit card holding customers. If they don't care for the customer , why should the customer care for them . I am ok if the cost is borne equally. Ideally, retailers should be negotiate with the banks rather than fully passing it on to the customers.
@@PuneetVadhera the shop guy would say to get lost if you talk rules.. Almost all computer and camera shops ask flat 2%..even government would be aware of it.. They put blame on visa or diners stating they charge high mdr charges.

Now a days no one is charging extra...but 10 years back it was the situation, merchants were used to ask 1 or 2% extra (not in metro cities, in small towns)

Agar hum credited card ka bill generate hone se pehle payment karde to kya wo civil score k monthly transection checking mei count hoga. Means yearly kisi bhi card ko use karne ki limit 10 lacs hoti hai to kya before Bill generation se pehle ki payments bhi count hogi.
