When Gladiator was in cinema in Australia I went to watch it with some friends. There was a lovely young Danish lady there all alone in the foyer. I asked her if she was waiting for anybody to see the film with. She wasn't as she was backpacking alone around Australia. I invited her to join me so she could have some company during the movie as it didn't seem right for a lady to sit all alone with nobody for company. It was an emotional movie and it was wonderful to share it with another person. I dropped her off at the bus station afterwards and never saw her again. Strangely enough, I think about this moment I shared with a complete stranger so many years ago. Despite not even remembering her name, she has a permanent place in my memories. This song reminds me of a snapshot in time when I was a younger man, sharing a beautiful moment with a beautiful woman who I would never see again.

Having a hard time adjusting to civilian life and dealing with my demons. One day I just wondered in the movie theatre at the mall. I sat down and watched the movie Gladiator and I just broke down. This movie and Russell Crowe’s performance, his sacrifice, love and devotion to his family saved me. I picked myself up and became a better man, father and husband. scores from Hans Zimmer. I run and I mediate to these two sounds. When I leave this earth it will be to Now We Are Free. This movie and Lisa Gerrard masterful performance and composed by the legend himself Hans Zimmer. Idioglossia. It's basically a made-up language she uses when she sings. I believe Elizabeth Fraser of the Cocteau Twins does the same sort of thing. Both women have incredible voices. Ethereal, otherworldly, like they're channeling raw emotion. Massive talent.

I've seen Gladiator 12 times and still love it. I love this song. I've been listening to Lisa Gerrard since the early 1990's. She has an amazing voice. So moving!
When my grandmother passed a couple years ago my sister and I flew to Chicago for for her funeral. I put this on repeat the night before the service and balled for a solid 40 minutes.. Kept it on repeat the whole night. It still brings tears to my eyes..

Idioglossia. It's basically a made-up language she uses when she sings. I believe Elizabeth Fraser of the Cocteau Twins does the same sort of thing. Both women have incredible voices. Ethereal, otherworldly, like they're channeling raw emotion. Massive talent.

When I was a kid, I'd draw scenes from people's everyday lives - women going shopping, teenage kids getting angry at their parents, meals, vacations... When I heard this song in Gladiator, it shook me so deeply that I drew people listening to a woman sing it at a music venue (cafe or whatever). I still remember that drawing and I'm glad I found the song so many years later.
