    Well done! You seem to have your needs squared away in the event that you would need to leave in an emergency. I was not directly affected by Hurricane Helene, but live about 20 miles from areas that were impacted. Many of the people that were displaced only had minutes to leave their homes and businesses before massive flooding hit. Sadly, I doubt many of them were able to evacuate with more than the clothes on their backs. While it’s a devastating situation, a go bag like yours could make things a little better until help arrives. One specific note about your bag: you were very thoughtful to include copies of important documents in your kit. In the unfortunate event that you’ve lost your home or other property, copies of legal documents would be helpful in applying for aid. Sorry for the long comment, but your video is a timely reminder of the importance of being prepared for the unexpected.

    Great vid! Thanks for sharing. It's always great to be prepared. In my emergency bag i made sure to focus on food, water and shelter. Got everything from amazon. One of the best purchases i made was buying freezedried food that lasts 15yrs and only needs water.

    Great video! You probably know this, but a pencil or an all-weather pen is needed for your Rite in the Rain notebook. The pages are coated to make them waterproof, so regular pens don’t work well (and are even less effective when the paper is wet).

    I have a bug out kit in my car with lots of the same things you have in here. I’m working on a regular bag like yours. Let me suggest a great item to have in your car, a battery jumper. It’s a battery pack that has the jumper cables hooked to it. It holds 3 charges, but it also has a USB port so you can charge electronics for a while with it.

    This was so good. I have been working to put a go bag together, and I have two cats so I'm always thinking of them in terms of an emergency. How would you transport your cats? Do you have cat carriers, backpacks, a cat stroller? I'm just so indecisive on this part because I don't know what is the most efficient or easy to use in an emergency. Just wondering what your thoughts were. Thanks for posting.

    • @TheHandbagConnoisseur

      That’s great you’re working on a go bag. For my cats I have one carrier for my smaller cat and a stroller for my big cat. I’m thinking of getting a two cat stroller to make it easier. I thought about a backpack but it would be tough to manuver if I have this backpack on me already in the event of an emergency. Hope that helps! Thanks so much for watching 😊💕

      I was thinking of replacing my cat stroller with one that has two detachable carriers. It might solve all of the issues. Just saw it recently. Thanks for responding.

      @ I don’t have one yet!
      I work as a truck driver so the first emergency bag I create was for the truck and when we go off roading.
      The focus for that bag was:
      1. First aid
      2. Heat (candles, mylar blankets and mylar sleeping bag/ tent and rain ponchos
      3. Emergency tools, tapes, glues and flares etc
      I was considering a Jetboil in my upcoming truck bug out bag. The plan is to have a grab and go bag in the truck if we need to abandon the truck for any reason (hijacking’s, snowstorms, tornadoes etc).

    Apparently, the new cars have windows that those window breakers will Not break. Any ideas? The hammer type window breakers?

    • @TheHandbagConnoisseur
      @TheHandbagConnoisseur  3 месяца назад

      Hmmm.. not sure. This tool will break a car side window not a windshield so tempered glass not laminated. If you find out let me know. Thats good info to know. For me, this tool seems easier to use vs a hammer, if God forbid the car was going under water. Thanks for watching 😊💕

    • @TheHandbagConnoisseur
      @TheHandbagConnoisseur  3 месяца назад

      I didn’t weigh it but it’s a comfortable weight for me to carry long term if need be. If I had to guess I’d say around 15-20lbs. Just keep in mind that the ideal weight for your go bag should be no more than 10-15% of your body weight. Thanks for watching 😊💕
