I had one that lived 14 years! Absolutely amazing dog. The smartest dog ever he understood specific words like a border collie does. I lived in Alaska at the time so he had plenty of room to stretch his legs. He was in charge of my 3 Maine coon cats or vice versa. I was surrounded by genius pets. Good times.
It was so sad when we had to give my favorite belgain sheepdog puppy away I called her pinkerston because we gave her a pink ribbon so we could tell her apart from her 1 sister and 6 brothers and now her name is spicy oh and she is one of the sisters of Monty and we wound up keeping her brother micah and we own her mother evie. But now she has a family of some other belgains so that's good
Had one. He was the smartest dog we ever have. Very loyal. He can weep, understand medical treatment for them, sometimes act stubborn against you in a cute funny way and know to comfort you when you are not happy... If you like big dogs and live in cold areas, this is definitely one of the best breeds you should have. Strong and healthy, not easy to get sick and need run and play a lot!! They have very thick and jet-black hair. Heat will be a problem for them.
I currently have one who is 15 years old with hip dysplasia, but otherwise still healthy. Amazing breed, loyal, curious, intelligent, and well mannered. Just need to work them mentally.
I adopted one who bit a child previously. She has tremendous aggression but tons of fun. I would recommend the breed but be prepared to play a lot. Very smart but mine is best left alone.
I'm looking at a pup currently and I have a back yard but not the biggest... however I am active and it would be walked/ run twice a day along with any other outing or active activities I go on.. I have been really interested in the breed for ages but there sorta expensive and not as popular where I live, I'm just wondering if there defiantly a dog having! And if there's any bad sides to having one 😇
Man! My Grandmother passed away and left me her dog, Neptune. I have no idea what kind of dog he is but after watching this I'm 99% certain this is the one! 😅
I have a groenendaeler of 1 year. It's pretty much a 7 year old human in its behaviour 😂 so smart and loyal. Would protect me in the evening after my chest surgery ♡ pretty much taught him everything cause i was home whilst my parents were at work. Kept me active and loved during my recovery and now i keep him active and loved as well ♡ live in the Netherlands near lots of farms and fun places to walk in forests and water ♡ ps. He's a huge lap dog and cuddles with my mom and me every evening and he doesn't nib your enkles but he loves play biting your wrists. No aggression to find in this pup ♡
hahaha, I agree, Groenendaelers are like children. My neighbors dog is 1,5 years right now. He has such a funny habits, at 2pm he takes his blanket and watches Tom and Jerry on TV until 4pm, don't try to put on another cartoon, because he turns his head and makes clear he doesn't want it. Also don't talk to him while he's watching TV. You can show him his leash and favorite toy, but he doesn't move. My best friend has a Malinois we often take both dogs and play with them on the beach. the Malinois is like redbull, he can play, run the entire day. The groenendael loves to play, but isn't so energetic, he love to cuddle and have lots of attention.
You don't have to brush groenendael that often, once in a week or two is enough in normal conditions. When shedding, brush few times in a week. Source: I've been living with groenendaels for a while, check my channel for more proof.
+THE Doge that is plenty of exercise. My Groenendael is now 7yrs old & doesn't care much for you much exercise. A 30-60min walk every other day makes her happy.
@@sly-fi6502 If you also play with him outside an hour running is enough for them, they aren't as active as other shepherds. These dogs love to have their family arround them. They are very cuddly and love attention.
I heard it’s possible to keep a German Shepard if living in an apartment, along as they’re taken out often and exercise regularly. Is it possible for Belgian Shepards? I live by a river- the sea, and behind me is a park. They are stunning dogs. I’m going to research before I get any kind of dog. I also think it’s best for me to wait until I’m done with college. I don’t want to leave the dog on its own. I would feel terrible leaving a dog on its own for a few hours.
RK AK ASMR It’s really nice that you’re thinking it through from the animal’s point of view. Too many people get active breeds, neglect their needs and eventually run into behavioral problems & dump the dog. Groenendaels, along with other sheepdogs, are beautiful and intelligent animals.
I have a question for anyone in the comments who has owned a Belgian Malinois and a Belgian shepherd. My question is are the shepherd's more low-key than the Malinois? I've had a Malinois and would never get another one so I have to find out if the breeds are similar. I have had german shepherd's who I adore but the Malinois was way to much dog for me!
In short I would say yes. The Belgian Shepherd has a more easy going personality then the Malinois. However they need plenty of exercise and play time in order to keep them happy, otherwise they can become destructive as many dogs do without proper attention and training. They require a firm but gentle owner due to them being sensitive dogs. As with every dog, socializing is key to a well rounded Belgian Shepherd.
The sheepdog is more easy and less energetic than the Malinois. They are amazing family dogs, but every dog needs attention, they need to be able to play outside for at least 3h. The sheepdogs are amazing company they are very cuddly and love attention. They don't like to be left alone for a long time.
+Maissinaksu lapsi You should look into hypoallergenic dogs. I have a friend who is allergic and he just got a Bichon Frise. I also did a video on Airedale Terriers you should check out. Good luck 😄
