This trip was full of charm and inspiration and I am beyond thrilled to share each and every detail with you! We stayed at the Inn at Stonecliffe which was recently renovated and it couldn't have been a more perfect fit for Mike and I to celebrate our anniversary. Have you ever visited Mackinac Island? After watching Somewhere in Time hundreds of times this is on my bucket list. How beautiful!
I hope you go one day! It has certain heavy tourist times, but there are also beautiful areas in the UP and outside Mackinaw City to explore as well!

Andrea, this is my dream getaway! I've been watching Jack Barnwell for years enjoying his landscaping expertise in the Mackinac area. Seeing the fort and that beautiful inn was icing on the cake! I'm from Grove City, Ohio, a suburb of Columbus. We just took a trip to Bay City for a 4 day trip. We were there to see a few concerts. What a beautiful place. We loved it. The antique stores up there have amazing primitive pieces. We ate at amazing restaurants and couldn't believe that everyone was so nice and friendly, even when we told them we were from Ohio 😅 I would love for our next trip to be Mackinac Island. What a beautiful place to go for your anniversary. Thank you for sharing ❤

This is such a beautiful tour of Mackinaw Island…I want to go there…I grew up in Chicago and had outings (and horseback riding) on the Lake there north of Chicago…this enchanting island with no automobiles seems priceless and so quaint, Andrea! We haven't been there for a long time. We were lucky to be given a very special carriage tour that latest about 2.5 hrs. We were able to tour the 'cottages.' Loved that trip.
...so very charming! ... how fun to ride your bikes around! What a nice way to spend your Anniversary together...love how your sister managed to arrange the rocks in the lake, into a heart shape - just for you guys! I can see why this was such a special trip together... and for you --- the architecture, decor, gardens, not having to cook, clean, take care of your sweet kids -- no schedule, homes schooling, planning meals, doing laundry! Such a needed break for you and the hubby...I can see why you said it was Magical!

I grew up in St. Ignace in the 1970s and spent many summers on Mackinac Island. I live in Idaho now, as an adult, but this video brought back many, many fond memories.

Camomile is so beautiful in a cottage garden. I planted some in my garden three years ago and since then it has reseeded itself in the garden every year. I just weed out the extra plants and keep a few.

I live in Michigan and have been to the Island many times. It always amazes me, particularly if you stay overnight. Your video highlighted the beauty of the island! I love your style and collect the same type of things you do. I love history as well. Your home is amazing, especially your dining room table! Always on the lookout for something similar or I might have to make it. We usually go to the Island around our anniversary in August. Thank you for sharing your visit!

As well as the buildings with all that gorgeous wood!😮 That's so sweet that you let your sister take care of the details so you guys could be surprised! The room was gorgeous💙 I'm just happy for you guys, that you got to have this whole experience! Your room was very pretty! All the pretty flowers & gorgeous landscape! Lol peaceful always calls my name😁 The historic homes were stunning! The water really is so clear. The bird wallpaper & old photos were awesome. Yeah, that's a pretty amazing exit! What a beautiful island. A journey to Mackinaw has been on my bucket list for quite some time. Like you I can sometimes be a little cheap. My father in law used to say "If you are cheating yourself then you are cheating the wrong person". Your video has encouraged me to plan a trip soon.
I have been using upside for a year or so and have earned hundreds of dollars . We enjoy spending the money on all kinds of fun things that I would usually not enjoy.
I hope you can make it! I like what your father in law says! Sometimes life experiences are worth the splurge!
My husband and I were on our way home from western NY back to WI and went through Michigan and went over the Mackinaw Bridge!!! Oh my goodness, it was breathtaking! Never stayed on the Island, but what you’ve shown in your video, it’s like a little piece of heaven right here on earth!! Thanks for sharing!! ❤❤❤ Happy anniversary and blessings!!!

I live about 90 miles south of the bridge but been there too many times to count never stay over night there. . I made memories there with my children and grand children too. Everyone should go there at lease once. I remember going there a child with my parents on vacation too. I 78 now and live down state because my family is near as age although I m still pretty active too. My hubby health not o good but were okay P.T.L. for our 58 years of marriage and wonderful family. God Grace be with you and your sweet family.

Mackinaw Island is Stunning! I do LOVE the movie Somewhere in Time as well, and would love to visit the island someday, funny, I live in Ohio, and never realized it was so close:) maybe one day I will get to visit!
Andrea - Thank you so much for sharing this magical place. It's always held a special place in my heart. Each June 27th (from the movie) I rewatch "Somewhere in Time". I've been there a few times and it always reminds me how beautiful our state is. Besides being gorgeous, it's such a serene and peaceful place without all the vehicles. It's on my bucket list to go to the Grand Hotel for the Somewhere in Time weekend in October. I noticed you stopped at one of the places I like to frequent when I go to Bay City. We went there last year for our Anniversary…did the carriage tour and rode bikes around the island! It was magical!!
Visited Mackinaw Island for a day in our 25th anniversary road trip around Michigan...27 years ago. Fell in love with the atmosphere and history. Sat on the Grand Hotel veranda, chatted with the college students working the recreation areas, and walked everywhere!!! The Fort, the Chapel...so peaceful. Congratulations on your anniversary and blessings for another year of adventure with your sweet family!

I can’t believe living in Michigan for most of my life that I’ve never been to Mackinaw Island. 😂😂😂. Maybe Hubby and I can plan a trip for next summer. We will be married 50 years this February. ❤

Mackinaw is always a favorite place. We’ve stayed in town at the lake view hotel. They have an indoor pool which good for the Michigan weather. The kiddos like riding their bikes on Main Street after the last ferry has left for the night. It’s so quiet then and so enjoyable! The grand is nice for a afternoon tea and my husband and son played golf which they enjoyed! Very pricy though. Glad you had good weather and a nice getaway with your husband.

We definitely have a beautiful state. Blessed with beautiful lakes....and I live in Bay City and the antique shops here are great. Drive down Center Ave and you would see some beautiful historic homes. You should go to the island during the lilac festival....oh the smells!

Than k you for sharing your time on Mackinac Island with us. It was so lovely! I visited and fell in love with the island in 1995, but haven't been back since. I've watched other videos taken on the island, but none as good as this. It was a sweet reminder of a special time in my life.

Soooo Many Cities in America need to adopt this Premise thst is so wonderful on Mackinaw Island ...NO CARS. Horses . Foot Travel. Bicycle. ..;What a difference it would make in how one is able to " See the Beauty "and all the interesting things about places. My mom and I are planning to go back next Summer for a girls only trip. She is still in Michigan, but we have never stayed on the island. I have been to Mackinac numerous times as both a child and adult but have never stayed ON the island overnight. This is definitely something I have to do now. It is a magical place and so beautiful.
It is really magical toward the end of the day when everyone returns back to the mainland and the island is nearly empty and quiet!
