Hey that was fun. I took my T430 completely apart. Cleaned out the dust on the blower and vent screens, and replaced the TIM with liquid metal. Put it all back together and the only issue was that I had to reset the date. I did pop the CPU off the mobo for just a second, is this why I had to reset the time? Also just so anyone reading knows, not all the parts removed in this video need to be removed to take the cpu blower off the cpu. I guess the maker of the video was just trying to show all of the parts that can be taken apart.
This is a complete disassembly video, so yes there's a lot of unnecessary things here if you just want to upgrade your cpu. Your clock got reseted because you took the Bios batery out (1:50). That's unnecessary for almost all purpose besides complete disassembly or swaping that specific battery.
Friend, can you tell me the voltage of the DC connector jack of the blue wire? Here on my T420 it is giving zero volts! The black wires are zeroed and the red wires are at 20 volts! My T420 stopped from nothing, does not turn on or turn on the green led when the source is connected!
Question: if I'm just replacing the power jack, are all those steps necessary? Like, it doesn't seem like I'd have to take apart the whole lcd for that and such
Excelent Video! My Lenovo does not turn on the screen, but it does have a video signal when I connect it to a monitor through the VGA port. Can it be the flex? Or should I think of another cause?
Only thing you need to pull to clean/replace the fan is the keyboard and top cover. Pop the screw holding down the left speaker assembly and pivot it out of the way. Unscrew the heatsink from the CPU, pop the fan connector and wiggle the fan out.
This is a complete disassembly, so there's much more there than "just to clean CPU fan", like taking out Ram, Hd, Bios battery, etc. You should look for a specific video on your demand or look for the HMM (Hardware Maintenance Manual). Please don't say the design is crappy if you barely know what's happening in the video.
Having done a fair number of upgrades on my T430, it's actually a really workable design on the interior. Compared to many other laptops I have serviced, the T430 is a breeze once you've gotten under the hood once.
Meu Deus que vídeo maravilhoso … exatamente oque eu procurava , até imaginei a Rebeca de Resident Evil tocando piano , The Moonlight Sonata ❤
Never worked on a Laptop before and I had to change the power socket. This helped tremendously. Thank you

What’s the name of the song pal?
Excelente videp.
Is the RAM Slot 0 behind the keyboard or is that SLOT 1?
+Zach Mann 0 is the "main" slot, which is sadly under the keyboard.
buenisimo !
Where is the microphone?
Ahora vuelva y armarlo!
jajaja eso es lo dificil
unfortunately since t420 there is no reinforcement on the lid - too bad
in glorious 240p... sad.
Gracias
Like y suscito!
Hola!

so sad
What a crappy design. You should not be forced to remove all this stuff just to clean CPU the fan. Engineers should be ashamed of what they have done.
