Im 64, male from England...grew up with ABBA as a guilty secret...but this...like they have never been away.Makes me sorry for all the stuff we could have had between the years. Better than ever. They know how to write pop tunes with fantastic lyrics. LOVE this. As someone coming back from 30 odd years of alcoholism, this song has a very personal resonance. Genius stuff.
Using words like "You look bewildered" and "and so you should, I would" ... bloody hell. Can't praise this highly enough. Lyric wise, Dylan would be proud.

Thank you for the reaction, Barry. I love this song. The lyrics are brilliant with so many layers. Björn said, that he knew the lyrics had to be about them. I loved this song the first time I heard it, but every time since, it keeps getting better. The whole concept of their come back is absolutely fantastic. I love the songs, the Abbatars, the Voyage, building the Abba arena. The timing to their come back could not have been any better. This is what the world needed right now.
I cried like a baby watching the broadcasting that Thursday. To hear those voices again is almost more than I can take. It`s hard to understand, that these ladies are over 70 years old. It sure doesn`t sound like it. Brilliant.

It reminded me of when my aunt and I watched Muriel's Wedding; and also their instrumentals starting at "I'm fired up..." brought back memories of adorable cartoon series with their lush green sceneries I saw in Ghibli animes that I used to watch during holiday mornings and afternoons.

Ah, 2nd September 2021. Those two songs. What a return. So many fans have told how the tears flowed as 'I Still Have Faith In You' opened up and it just continued with 'Don't Shut Me Down'. The two ladies still have beautiful voices but they have both naturally changed. Would they still sound as magical together as they did 40-45 years before? Who could doubt them? The moment that chorus kicks in says it all. No words were needed. There are many different contributions that make their music great but for so many fans, that is the 'ABBA sound'.

Me too, well, tried my hardest not to but teary eyed the whole song through. I could've gone to see what was on live stream here in Stockholm at the Gröna Lund amusement park but I'm glad I didn't in a way, otherwise I might've ended up on camera crying or something. It took many listens before I could listen to the song without breaking down. But at the end of the song when Frida sings the title in her higher voice, that still gets to me. But all Abba songs more or less gets me emotional. I remember listening to the album Arrival in 1976 after I'd gotten it on my mono record player (the kind with the speaker in the top of the case and closed looked like an attaché case) at 11 years old. Teary eyed through all the songs. That's how much Abba meant and still means to me. It took several weeks before I had the nerve to listen to Voyage, maybe because I was afraid of being disappointed after so many years without new Abba songs. I took a few times listening to it until I got used to their sound today. Such a joy having new music after sooooo many years. A very good swan song. The only thing I miss is Michael B Tretows studio wizardry. It doesn't sound as crisp as their previous albums, but still, loving it!

after hearing both these songs the day they came out i cried like a baby. it was like seeing an old friend i had not seen in 40 yrs. i was overcome with emotion. i have been a super fan from the beginning so have been invested in this group all my adult life. . several interviews have come out since the release of the new album it has hit #1 most everywhere in the world including here in the u.s. ABBA never had a top 10 album here b4. the main question asked will there be another album after this one?. the answer was no or unlikely. but benny said if the girls twist his arm maybe/ ABBA has received their first grammy nod for i still have faith. since they had such a joyous reunion in the studio and this epic comeback of the century would they not put out one more to make it 10 studio albums. it would be cruel for them to give us this new album and walk away again. also heard they had recorded a couple extra songs that did not make the album so never say never. not o be selfish but the world needs them now more than ever so please do another album maybe include the much loved unreleased song just like that on the followup album ABBA has been away far too long. with all the success this new album has been it just might make them do one more album. fingers and toes crossed!!!

when the whole band enters it feels like "yeah, it's them!". then when the two voices combine it's like "IT'S THEM!!! HOLY SHIT!!!, THEY ARE BACK!!!, IT'S ABBA, IT'S THEIR SOUND, THEY STILL HAVE THEIR MAGIC, IT'S THEM !00%!!!", they sound like if "voyage" was recorded only a few years after "the visitors", but not on purpose, they didn't try to "sound like the 80s" to make it "retro" for nostalgia, they did their thing normally and it sounds like them because IT IS THEM.

Barry ☘️, I am so glad you reacted to this. I was a true treasure that you shared your first listen with us. Who could have imagined that this would happen.
Their voices are still so familiar, sound so much like they did. It’s right there. All the memories, the sound. I can’t even begin to explain the feeling I had when I heard this the first time. My kids played it for me in the kitchen, and I remember coming to a complete standstill to soak it all in. I wasn’t expecting it. And, then again when I watched your reaction.
It is like I get shoved into a time capsule and go catapulting into the past. Nostalgia welling up in me. They gave us what we hoped for, the ABBA sound, yes!
That glissando at 3:08 and 4:09!!!!! Took me straight back to Dancing Queen!
YES! I loved the key changes as well. Great! I had a similar reaction. Tears one moment, smile from ear to ear in the next.
I have listened to the Voyage album. There are new sounds, of course, but there are so many little riffs, beats, sounds that remind me of specific songs from the ABBA past. Those little moments take me straight back.
I am sitting here remembering college days. We had a music listening room at the college. I went there all the time. You would go up to the desk and tell them what you wanted to listen to. I can’t remember, they must have had a catalogue to choose from. They would give you headphones and assign you to a cushioned chair. You would then plug the headphones into a jack and sit and listen. They controlled the music. I can remember listening so often to ABBA and Erasure (Erasure-The Innocents, hadn’t thought of them in a looong time). 😁🎵

Aw Barry, bless you. Fab honest reaction. I was almost hospitalised watching and hearing the first new songs during the live broadcast. Like you, I was a wreck the minute they started. Hearing THOSE voices, both individually and in harmony as the 'third voice', is a big fat warm hug from the past that none of us expected to hear, taking you back to the simpler days of the 70s. Agnetha's seasoned voice is so beautiful, age and experience adding new dimensions, and when that soaring chorus and dirty bass kick in..... Can't wait to hear your thoughts on the rest of 'Voyage'

I am a little late in running across this new ABBA song. I have watched several reactions to this and almost every person has shown some degree of emotion, (even me dang it), I think many who viewed it are aware of who ABBA was in the past and to see them come back with such a fantastic song when no one thought they'd ever create and sing together again is what triggers a happy nostalgic reaction. It's funny cause I watched two teens, (possibly early 20's at most by their appearance}, listening to an early ABBA song, (Fernando). They giggled and said it sounded like a hippie song, and seemed to think it was strange Freida was looking into the camera. They ended up saying the song was sweet but not really that interesting, (I am paraphrasing that part). So I was not impressed with their reaction because it didn't seem to show very deep thought about details that you would call a true critique. Sort of like wading in shallow water. Interesting eye opener for me but not that surprising.

I’m a little surprised that you didn’t say anything about those high backing vocals in the second chorus. They sound as if they had been recorded around the Super Trouper sessions.

Those key changes (Bb-C-D), the bass, the soaring, swelling strings, and the glokenspeil, and the girl's angel voices - plus all the rest...!!! What an arrangement! What a brilliant piece of sheer musical genius! Thank you, ABBA for the proverbial! Simply brilliant! (and I'm learning to play it on keys. Very fulfilling, rewarding and enjoyable indeed to attempt to recreate it under one's fingers) Simply splendid! Thanks for the video, sir!

Dear Barry, such a beautiful song! I've always known of ABBA from their very beginning but never really “listened” to their music. I guess wisdom comes with age. I really like the "ABBA sound" and the songs I’ve heard so far, so I will check out more of their music. I do believe there’s a new ABBA fan here in New Jersey. Thank you for introducing me to new music!
Love your reaction video for this song. Sending a big hug your way Barry…. 🥰

@@ItsmeBarry Oh Barry, I had a message typed and ready to send, but did something stupid and lost it 😡.
I did read your response to my comment. I don't know why I didn't like it when I read it. Don't even think about removing that video!!!!! It's such a beautiful song and I understand the emotions you felt when you listened to it for the first time. Thanks for all the hearts on my comments (and for encouraging me to continue commenting).
I'm feeling a lot better, thanks for asking. The pulmonologist increased the dosage on one prescription and added another medication for my breathing treatments. This is the fourth doc I'm seeing at this practice. The first I had for several years and he was great. The second I saw 2 or 3 times. The third I saw once. They all left for assorted reasons. I'm not sure about this new guy, but he seems to know his stuff.
Enough about me. How are you feeling?
I see you've been busy, busy! I've been enjoying the Countdown to Christmas. I like the questions.... makes it interactive and I like reading the other responses. I've been meaning to ask, have there been any more claims or have they given up on that? Hoping it's the latter.
The comment I lost was much funnier and more interesting, but this will have to do for now 🤣. I hope you are doing well. Thanks for keeping me company with your videos when I was so sick! Didn't know you did that, did you (that's a lot of dids 😁).

@@AnneMajdosz that’s very frustrating when that happens. I’ve had several masterpieces vanish and it’s always impossible to try recreate the magic. I don’t know why the tube likes to do that to us but it’s one of a few irritating things on here.
I’m glad that you’ve got to see a new doctor and I’m very confident the new meds will help. I had to giggle when you listed all the doctors that have left, if that was me I’d be thinking they moved or retired because I’d driven them to distraction 😂 I’m sure that’s not the case with you but I had to share my unusual thoughts 🤪
Thanks for spotting my little artistic choice of adding Scott as a portrait in my thumbnail. I’m sure little things like that go unnoticed by most but it’s fun to play around with the thumbnails, it’s one of the things I can be creative with. Unfortunately, as we’ve discussed before, several of my thumbnails have been taken and used by other channels. The one I mentioned most recently to you still has my thumbnail as part of their thumbnail. My manager wanted to claim the video but insisted they didn’t. They have sent them several emails asking them to remove it the last one I let them word a little stronger by mentioning a possible claim (I’d never actually do that) but the emails have gone unanswered 🙄
As for the claim thing that tormented the first few months of 2023, thankfully they have stopped. I think the two new reactions I had last December may have triggered the system and then they went through my channel with a fine tooth comb. We’ll see if it all starts again when I post a new reaction. People are unsubscribing because I’m not reacting to PTX’s new songs but I normally like to let the act get all the views they can before reacting to a song plus I haven’t been doing new ones for a while. I’ll try do some before Christmas but I doubt they’ll get cleared before the big day.
I’m glad my vids could keep you company, that’s a lovely thing to hear. Hopefully I can continue to keep you company over the coming weeks, I have a few vids ready to go and can make a few shorts too.

28.-At this point it might seem that my childhood has been a terrible melodrama: I assure you not. I think that my grandfather believed that it was not good to protect a girl from things and situations that, sooner or later, she would have to face, and he preferred that this happen while he was close to be able to guide all those new sensations in a positive way. Can I explain why? At that time, no. Maybe now I can.
He was the youngest son of a great family, the last, and the most pampered. His father never asked too much of him, he had a carefree life even after marrying my grandmother. But shortly after a civil war began, they were on the other side of the country far from their families, and reality exploded in front of him with all its harshness. I won't tell that story (I'd rather not) but I think that's why, with the absolute opposition of my mother and grandmother, he wanted to teach me little by little and prevent deep holes from being created in my path so that no one would teach me to jump. . He wanted my worm body to house a strong mind capable of resolving any conflict.
Grandpa, I'm here, I'm still here. You've got it.
