I'm no marine biologist or mechanic, but I would be inclined to think a large open protrusion like that would be recognized as a cloaca or a mechanism for propulsion. IDK if there's any life form currently existing that uses the water they ingest as propulsion so I'm rolling with that.

According to the devs Subnautica wasn't intended to be a horror game, it was supposed to be about exploring an alien ocean. What they didn't realize however is that any ocean is really fucking horrifying.

@@legobatman5067 They weren't planning on making it a horror game. The blood kelp came much further in development. But before that it really wasn't meant to be scary. Also, the reaper used to look much more smoother and colorful then it does now. And that was after they did the blood kelp, if I remember well.
I didn’t really find subnautica scary in a horror sense it was spooky when I’d find some creatures but they were always extremely avoidable and not scary more than an annoyance to my inventory lol

For anyone curious about Jerma's oxygen question: The air you breathe in is about 20% oxygen and the air you exhale is about 15% oxygen. So yes you can breathe into someone mouth to save their life.

It does weird me out that people never wondered about what we breathe to find out... also, most of what we breathe in is nitrogen (taught in grade school), and if we breathe pure oxygen, we get high. Our bodies are set up to work with what we have to power our bodies at all times, and breathing 100% oxygen is not normal... so breathing pure oxygen would:
1- be tits
2- be possible to breathe into others, as our lungs aren't 100% efficient at taking in most of what we _do_ breathe in, just like our digestion... which is why we shit. Some is lost nutrients, which is why some animals are coprophagic.

Hello everyone! Long time no sea! I'm finally back, this time with an edit of Jerma's two Subnautica streams from 2018. I just finished playing the game myself, and thought I would do an edit of these streams as 2ndJerma only got single 13 minute video, "Subnausea". It's a great video, but I felt it's a little short compared to the length of the streams. Once I found out there was never any longer edit, I decided I would make one myself! I hope you enjoy!
Note: This channel is not monetized, so if you see ads on this video, they are due to Jerma's use of copyrighted music at points. I recommend you use an adblocker when watching. My apologies. Also note that there are framerate issues in the video that were on Jerma's side, not mine.

Q&A:
Where have I been?
So this is a tough question, as the answer is multi-faceted. After my last video in January 2020, I kind of went into Jerma-dormancy. I was busy with classes and graduation so I put editing on the backburner. You have to remember, at this time there were virtually no independent Jerma editors as there are now, however by spring 2020 there were lots of new editors. SuperDazza and JackEdit, among others, were producing excellent content at insane rates, especially SuperDazza. And I'm talking REALLY insane. Like day-after-stream edits, which to me is unfathomable. I generally just don't work with that time frame. So as new streams came out, they got quality edits quickly after, and my interest in editing new streams waned. Which is really not a bad thing! I'm usually interested in making an edit of a stream if there is either 1. No edit of a particular stream or 2. There is an unsatisfactory edit (by my own subjective standards). And in most cases I loved the edits these streams got! After SuperDazza and JackEdit joined 2ndJerma, this pattern was continued by the excellent editors Cheltie, Skye4, and Pythanoc. Please check out all these names I have mentioned, they are all fantastic editors! I apologize if I am leaving someone out!
As the months passed I kept watching Jerma and the fan edits, but I didn't feel the need or interest to make edits of streams myself, as it seemed like they were covered. And then somehow, over a year passed, and I still haven't made a new video. I don't know how time flies. But to this day, as far as I know, most new streams get an edit soon after. Again, not a bad thing at all! But as long as this persists, I am not interested in editing brand new streams, unless there is a special case. However, that doesn't mean I am quitting! I have formulated a new plan for how I want to move forward!
What's my plan now?
My plan with this channel moving forward is to make edits of streams that, following my rules in editing I listed earlier, either 1. Never got an edit at all or 2. Got an unsatisfactory edit (again, subjective). I edited Jerma's Subnautica streams since I am following this new plan.
When's the next video?
So, I have a video planned for within a month from now. But normally, I don't have a strict schedule. This is probably obvious from my past upload history. My editing philosophy is I choose to edit when I want to edit. This way it stays fun for me. The minute I do something when I don't want to, it ceases to feel like a passion project and more of a chore, and that's something that I would never want to do. So I don't have a schedule, sadly, but rest assured that there will be more videos! Just give it some time.
Would I want to join the 2ndJerma "main channel" editors?
This is another tough question. After my last edit, I decided I would reach out to them, but after a lot of thought on the matter, I have changed my mind. I haven't talked to them yet, but I'd rather not join them right now mainly because I don't want to make a commitment to something that I don't know if I could fulfill. And I fear the fun I get out of making edits would be in jeopardy, mainly due to the dynamics I described in the previous question's answer. Now, I could be totally wrong, maybe if I did join them I would have a blast and it would work out fine. But I just don't have the time commitment to help the main channel editors out right now, sadly. For now I prefer to remain independent.

He correctly identifies glass as a non-mineral but implies this is because it is not naturally formed. This is a requirement for mineral status, but glass does naturally form: as obsidian and other volcanic glasses. Glass is not considered a mineral because of the variations in composition and lack of crystalline structure.

It’s like the reverse for me when I stream bloodborne. Gascoigne gave me HELL, but it was never on the Devs. I would either miss a swing by a hair or fuck something up that should’ve been obvious.
if think people who think like you may actually be dumb. jerma is an entertainer, have you noticed? when he's on twitch he's not playing games like he normally does. I haven't played the game in years so I don't know if this has been addressed, but I personally couldn't find it horrifying due to how janky and honestly, harmless, the Leviathans were. 90% of the time they'd just swim around you and do nothing. Then their models would spaz out and they'd attack. It was hard to feel scared of them knowing all they would do is bump my seamoth a little bit and then leave me alone for 5 minutes.
Ofcourse there would still be oxygen if you breathe into someones mouth, mouth to mouth resuscitation is still a thing. But sharing the canister/rebreather of oxygen underwater would probably be simpler and easier.
What I’ve learned is neither jerma nor his twitch chat have a correct comprehension of how breathing functions

@@capablanc you get a charger fairly early on so you still don't need that many, you also get a ton of batteries from the little crates. You really only need maybe an inventory full for your entire playthrough at most, if you play the game at a snails pace

Jerma consistently ignoring the sunbeam landing and pausing the game was perhaps the most infuriating thing I've seen him do.
Like it'd be one thing if he wasn't on the island, but no, the dude's sitting almost right on top of the marker. Heck, he even looks over a few times and you can see the gun rotate.

Air can be passed through the lungs a few times before it loses enough of its oxygen to become unbreathable. Otherwise mouth to mouth CPR and hyperventilating into paper bags would both be fatal.
