I went down to the book store just the other day to get myself a Bible for I had just got saved. But when I asked to see a Bible I could not understand why they had a shelf full ten feet long each one a different brand. They had the ASV and the RSV, Good News for Modern Man. They seemed to have a version for every cult and clan, the so called living bible and the brand new NIV but I soon found out the devil was the one who started these. So I took an ASV to church and the preacher preached in Psalms. But when he started reading I knew something was wrong. Was it that he could not read or was he going blind? But I finally figured out that he had a different kind. So I went back to the book store to get my money back. And when I told the man my problem he just slapped me on the back and said "now look here son some of the versions are hard to understand. I suggest that you should try Good News for Modern Man". So I took the other version home and thought I'd give it a try. But when I showed it to my pastor he said it was a lie. They attack the blood of Jesus saying he was not God on earth. They even put some cuss words in and deny the virgin birth. Wicked! Then he showed me how the other bible versions came along. Then he took the old King James and showed how they were wrong. He said "you're just a young believer and you didn't understand. The Authorized 1611 King James Bible is the only one for man." The next time I went to the bookstore I started to make him mad when I asked him if perversions were the only ones he had. And when he reached underneath the shelf what he showed me was a shame. He had to blow the dust away to read the name King James. So if you're going to buy a Bible please take this good advice. Buy nothing but the old King James. The others might sound nice. Compared to the other perversions the King James may seem odd but the difference is expected when you have the word of God.

Besides 1st John 5:7, there is another great way to show that God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit are one. Galatains 1:1 shows us that God the Father raised Jesus from the dead. John 2:19-22 shows us that Jesus raised himself up from the dead. Finally, Romans 8:11 shows us that the Holy Spirit raised Jesus from the dead. The Father, Son and Holy Spirit are all the same God. This is true enough! The doctrine of the Trinity(God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit; that the Father is God, the Son is God, and the Holy Spirit is God), and the deity of Christ(Jesus Christ is true God and true Man), is implied in the Bible! When I posed this question to an old jw, he said I would have to understand ‘rock mass theory’. I assumed that was some ‘special knowledge ‘ they made up. Also good point to the one who commented on Tyndale and the kjv. Kjv isn’t without issues also. And why is it not brought up to modern language?

One question I like to ask JW's is if they have been "born again". The last JW lady I asked said "no, there is no born again". I asked her then since Jesus said you must be born again to enter the kingdom of heaven was Jesus a liar? She walked away at that point.

Visited the Titanic Museum in Branson Missouri 2018, in it they have a display with the only Bible recovered from the Titanic as it sank and it is one of these 1881 English Greek Bibles opened in display case to forward page where it says it is based upon the Vatican text and the Eclectic text if my memory is correct. It belonged to a Baptist minister who did not survive.

The King James Bible was in the local bookstore when I got to the Philippines in 2017. It has been replaced with the American Standard Version. They took it off the sales shelf here.

That would be one of the verses that has way more support in the Latin texts than in the Greek manuscripts. The bibles of the early 1500s show that by putting this verse in parenthesis.
The Scriptures in 1JOHN 5:7,8 was ADDED by Desiderius Erasmus Roterodamas by order of the Vatican into his third addition of Textus Receptus in the 1500s These words were NOT FOUND IN ANY GREEK MANUSCRIPTS BEFORE THE 16th CENTURY .

@Alex J All modern Bibles can be twisted to teach the trinity. It's ironic because Jesus himself believed in One God not the trinity. He was raised Jewish and therefore Monotheistic. He even said that he couldn't do anything without his Father. Jesus clearly taught that he was the son of God, that God was greater than he was and that all sacred service should be be rendered to God alone. No, he didn't correct Thomas but, Trinitarians use that scripture to support a teaching that the Bible never teaches anywhere. In all four Gospels how many of Jesus's disciples called him God? How many times did Jesus tell his disciples and other people that it was his father that sent him, his father was greater than he was, we should worship God alone and more?. Jesus is our saviour and the Lord of all the earth. But that's because his fathers reward for Jesus going through the horrific things he went through was that Jesus sit at the right hand of his father the one true and only God. And that Jesus became the bridge from human kind to his father. Because of the sacrifice God made by sending his own son to die so that we may be forgiven. Jesus sacrificed his life on earth so that we could be reconnected with his Father - The one True God. So, now because of the sacrifices both the one true God made and his son made we can approach God through his son completing the Covenant between our father Yahweh/Jehovah and his people , us, mankind. God/Yahweh/Jehovah is the only one true God. Jesus was Gods very first creation (He was with God in the beginning) and Jesus was Gods don and craftsmen so to speak. Think of God as a company director and Jesus and his main manager. They are two separate beings. We can only pray to God through Jesus's name because he is the bridge between God and man. I'm at work and on my phone at the moment but when I'm home I'll provide scriptures and context straight from the Bible, I'll even use the original KJV version as flawed of a translation that it is for everything I've said above
What am I missing here? As I’m getting interested in learning more about Christianity/Greek, I often hear people accusing others of being wrong and thus creating division rather than uniting on the things that are common. Is Christianity about fighting others and exerting superiority or is it about compassion, trusting God will work out the kinks, and finding common ground by which we can unite under God? This fighting doesn’t sound Christlike or Godly to me. It sounds more like whining humans who can’t comprehend the greatness of God, miss the point, and perpetuate divisive behavior. Can someone educate me? What am I missing?
true. JWs actually used the KJV for the first 100 years.. from late 1800s to 1970. We made our own translation to put God"s name Jehovah back in its original 7000+ places where the KJV translators took it out and put LORD instead.
@Tikka Fan I do not know where you get your information from but the NWT is not even available to all of Jehovah's Witnesses yet. therefore many different translations are used.

Given the KJV was the very first bible version that was the default for bible students/JW's before they adopted use of the 1901 American standard version before they rolled out there own translation it's hard to honestly say they "hate the kjv" given it was the main textual foundation for them. Additionally the kjv is one of a half dozen or so versions that are available for any jw to read and compare on there app. I'd certainly agree secret societies have attempted for many decades and have had a measure of success infiltrating them.
They don’t hate it they just downgrade it,mainly because the English in the KJV requires some thinking and some research,two things that JWs,and others as well, don’t want to do. Archaic English is more complicated than modern English so it’s not “convenient “ to read,also its language that predates post modernism which has gradually made its way into every western institution,including the religions of Christendom ,and translation of the bible.

Saying that a few explicit references to Christian doctrine are removed when disputed passages are not included in Bible is not at all the same as saying that those doctrines can no longer be found therein. If your understanding of and belief in the Holy Trinity or the Divinity of Jesus are so shaky that the loss of one fairly plain reference each (and not even the most plain by a long shot in the case of the Divinity of Christ) then you need to study your Bible more closely, because even in the versions which take the most conservative stance and rule out all of the disputed passages, you will still find abundance evidence of these and all other doctrines.

This is quite funny. Russell, the founder of the JW movement, used the KJV himself. The Watchtower prints and distributes the KJV, and they also have it published on their website. It has been their go-to Bible when speaking to real Christians, at least at the outset. That's a far cry from "hating the KJV", as you allege.
There is zero definite article in the original text for John1:1. None at all. It's left to the translators to decide if there should be a definite article such as the letter A and a (,) and that decision is usually made using context from other scriptures.

I’ve spent a lot of time with the Jehovah’s Witnesses I’ve not seen or heard anything controversial even with the trinity thing which is getting old. I grew up baptist and I will say their translation is eye opening. 1. The 3 different words translated to hell. 2 the belief of bodily resurrection. I had always heard that ppl floated around immediately in heaven upon death. 3 grace they do believe in grace not works that save man. 3 I learn the very important meaning behind the apple trusting either in mans knowledge or gods knowledge! Satan told a lie u will b like god knowing right from wrong! Pls trust in the lord. U will never go wrong even leading to death. they are all great ppl that I love but I will say that they lack the Holy Spirit. I grew up with shouting speaking in tongues and ppl passing out. The jws new world translation is a bad translation. I was a Greek academic assistant in college and if one if my students turned in such work zi would have told them to redo it.
To shut down any JW take them to Ps. 146:8a "The Lord openeth the eyes of the blind" and then take them to Lk. 7:22a, "Then Jesus answering said unto them, Go your way, and tell John what things ye have seen and heard; how that the blind see...." Only GOD / Jehovah can open the eyes of the blind!

You're right, to teach repentance first before you can be saved is a heresy. Prior to salvation you are in bondage to sin, you can't stop. Even after you're saved you still sin. The difference being you now have the Holy Ghost indwelling you who can give you strength to not sin if you yield to Him. Saying a prayer and asking Jesus to save you is another heresy, as well as come down to an altar and receive Jesus. Paul says, " Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved..." Asking is not believing, it is unbelief.

JW's once held the copyright for KJV (not kidding!). That's why you can find Jehovah's name in one particular verse in all KJV printed during those years. They eventually sold the copyright.

I went down to the book store just the other day to get myself a Bible for I had just got saved. But when I asked to see a Bible I could not understand why they had a shelf full ten feet long each one a different brand. They had the ASV and the RSV, Good News for Modern Man. They seemed to have a version for every cult and clan, the so called living bible and the brand new NIV but I soon found out the devil was the one who started these.
So I took an ASV to church and the preacher preached in Psalms. But when he started reading I knew something was wrong. Was it that he could not read or was he going blind? But I finally figured out that he had a different kind. So I went back to the book store to get my money back. And when I told the man my problem he just slapped me on the back and said "now look here son some of the versions are hard to understand. I suggest that you should try Good News for Modern Man".
So I took the other version home and thought I'd give it a try. But when I showed it to my pastor he said it was a lie. They attack the blood of Jesus saying he was not God on earth. They even put some cuss words in and deny the virgin birth. Wicked! Then he showed me how the other bible versions came along. Then he took the old King James and showed how they were wrong. He said "you're just a young believer and you didn't understand. The Authorized 1611 King James Bible is the only one for man."
The next time I went to the bookstore I started to make him mad when I asked him if perversions were the only ones he had. And when he reached underneath the shelf what he showed me was a shame. He had to blow the dust away to read the name King James. So if you're going to buy a Bible please take this good advice. Buy nothing but the old King James. The others might sound nice. Compared to the other perversions the King James may seem odd but the difference is expected when you have the word of God.

Besides 1st John 5:7, there is another great way to show that God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit are one. Galatains 1:1 shows us that God the Father raised Jesus from the dead. John 2:19-22 shows us that Jesus raised himself up from the dead. Finally, Romans 8:11 shows us that the Holy Spirit raised Jesus from the dead. The Father, Son and Holy Spirit are all the same God. Betcha Westcott and Hort would have changed these verses too if they had caught this:

Visited the Titanic Museum in Branson Missouri 2018, in it they have a display with the only Bible recovered from the Titanic as it sank and it is one of these 1881 English Greek Bibles opened in display case to forward page where it says it is based upon the Vatican text and the Eclectic text if my memory is correct. That would be one of the verses that has way more support in the Latin texts than in the Greek manuscripts. The bibles of the early 1500s show that by putting this verse in parenthesis.
The Scriptures in 1JOHN 5:7,8 was ADDED by Desiderius Erasmus Roterodamas by order of the Vatican into his third addition of Textus Receptus in the 1500s These words were NOT FOUND IN ANY GREEK MANUSCRIPTS BEFORE THE 16th CENTURY .

What does the KJV teach differently about the Trinity than any other Trinitarian Bible?
@Alex J All modern Bibles can be twisted to teach the trinity. It's ironic because Jesus himself believed in One God not the trinity. He was raised Jewish and therefore Monotheistic. He even said that he couldn't do anything without his Father. Jesus clearly taught that he was the son of God, that God was greater than he was and that all sacred service should be be rendered to God alone. No, he didn't correct Thomas but, Trinitarians use that scripture to support a teaching that the Bible never teaches anywhere. In all four Gospels how many of Jesus's disciples called him God? How many times did Jesus tell his disciples and other people that it was his father that sent him, his father was greater than he was, we should worship God alone and more?. Jesus is our saviour and the Lord of all the earth. But that's because his fathers reward for Jesus going through the horrific things he went through was that Jesus sit at the right hand of his father the one true and only God. And that Jesus became the bridge from human kind to his father. Because of the sacrifice God made by sending his own son to die so that we may be forgiven. Jesus sacrificed his life on earth so that we could be reconnected with his Father - The one True God. So, now because of the sacrifices both the one true God made and his son made we can approach God through his son completing the Covenant between our father Yahweh/Jehovah and his people , us, mankind. God/Yahweh/Jehovah is the only one true God. Jesus was Gods very first creation (He was with God in the beginning) and Jesus was Gods don and craftsmen so to speak. Think of God as a company director and Jesus and his main manager. They are two separate beings. We can only pray to God through Jesus's name because he is the bridge between God and man. I'm at work and on my phone at the moment but when I'm home I'll provide scriptures and context straight from the Bible, I'll even use the original KJV version as flawed of a translation that it is for everything I've said above

What am I missing here? As I’m getting interested in learning more about Christianity/Greek, I often hear people accusing others of being wrong and thus creating division rather than uniting on the things that are common.
Is Christianity about fighting others and exerting superiority or is it about compassion, trusting God will work out the kinks, and finding common ground by which we can unite under God?
This fighting doesn’t sound Christlike or Godly to me. It sounds more like whining humans who can’t comprehend the greatness of God, miss the point, and perpetuate divisive behavior.

true. JWs actually used the KJV for the first 100 years.. from late 1800s to 1970. We made our own translation to put God"s name Jehovah back in its original 7000+ places where the KJV translators took it out and put LORD instead.

Given the KJV was the very first bible version that was the default for bible students/JW's before they adopted use of the 1901 American standard version before they rolled out there own translation it's hard to honestly say they "hate the kjv" given it was the main textual foundation for them. Additionally the kjv is one of a half dozen or so versions that are available for any jw to read and compare on there app.
I'd certainly agree secret societies have attempted for many decades and have had a measure of success infiltrating them.

They don’t hate it they just downgrade it,mainly because the English in the KJV requires some thinking and some research,two things that JWs,and others as well, don’t want to do. Archaic English is more complicated than modern English so it’s not “convenient “ to read,also its language that predates post modernism which has gradually made its way into every western institution,including the religions of Christendom ,and translation of the bible.

2. Also 1 John 5:7 doesn't have the KJV rendering.

He repeated this in articles for years afterward. Do you have an 1872 quote you can show that says the same thing? If so, please show it! That would be awesome. I have a friend with the largest or next-to-largest JW collection in the world. We'd love to have your information.

Saying that a few explicit references to Christian doctrine are removed when disputed passages are not included in Bible is not at all the same as saying that those doctrines can no longer be found therein. If your understanding of and belief in the Holy Trinity or the Divinity of Jesus are so shaky that the loss of one fairly plain reference each (and not even the most plain by a long shot in the case of the Divinity of Christ) then you need to study your Bible more closely, because even in the versions which take the most conservative stance and rule out all of the disputed passages, you will still find abundance evidence of these and all other doctrines.
Seeing that "For by your words you will be justified and by your words you will be condemned" (Mat:12:37), do you think that it is acceptable to add to or remove from God's own testimony to fallen man (Rev:22:18-19)? Whose Words are they, anywise?

Russell, the founder of the JW movement, used the KJV himself. The Watchtower prints and distributes the KJV, and they also have it published on their website. It has been their go-to Bible when speaking to real Christians, at least at the outset.

There is zero definite article in the original text for John1:1. None at all. It's left to the translators to decide if there should be a definite article such as the letter A and a (,) and that decision is usually made using context from other scriptures.

I’ve spent a lot of time with the Jehovah’s Witnesses I’ve not seen or heard anything controversial even with the trinity thing which is getting old. I grew up baptist and I will say their translation is eye opening. 1. The 3 different words translated to hell. 2 the belief of bodily resurrection. I had always heard that ppl floated around immediately in heaven upon death. 3 grace they do believe in grace not works that save man. 3 I learn the very important meaning behind the apple trusting either in mans knowledge or gods knowledge! Satan told a lie u will b like god knowing right from wrong! Pls trust in the lord. U will never go wrong even leading to death. they are all great ppl that I love but I will say that they lack the Holy Spirit. I grew up with shouting speaking in tongues and ppl passing out. They all sing together without instruments. Some sound great others at least try. Don’t bash the witnesses their noble hard working ppl that only wish to save another soul. As annoying as they may be

The jws new world translation is a bad translation. I was a Greek academic assistant in college and if one if my students turned in such work zi would have told them to redo it.

Yeah...repent and believe the gospel (Mark 1:15). It doesn't says repent "from sins" and believe. God repented in the old testatment, so that should tell you that repent doesn't mean turn from sin. If it did, why do people add "from sin" after it? You must repent from unbelief! you must believe the gospel! What MUST I do to be saved?

You're right, to teach repentance first before you can be saved is a heresy. Prior to salvation you are in bondage to sin, you can't stop. Even after you're saved you still sin. The difference being you now have the Holy Ghost indwelling you who can give you strength to not sin if you yield to Him. Saying a prayer and asking Jesus to save you is another heresy, as well as come down to an altar and receive Jesus. Paul says, " Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved..." Asking is not believing, it is unbelief.

JW's once held the copyright for KJV (not kidding!).
That's why you can find Jehovah's name in one particular verse in all KJV printed during those years.
They eventually sold the copyright.
Copyrights were not in effect in 1611, so how or when did the JW's hold a copyright on the KJV?
