Edit: people have pointed out that addiction IS the main problem, and that only smoking every now and then doesn’t damage your lungs that much.
Conclusion: smoking is bad for you nicotine or not.
The addiction is the main problem. Yes smoke is bad for the lungs anyways but the addiction causes frequent usage, and frequent usage makes stuff like lung cancer more likely to develop.
