I mean they make clothes that don't burn so I can't see why they wouldn't be able to make something that can redirect the fire off Touya's skin and regulate his temp.

For anyone wondering why Touya doesn’t have his scars, many people who draw him as a hero draw him with wristbands or armbands like you see in his design here, if I remember correctly they are meant to concentrate his power in a way that he can use it without hurting himself.
What could have been if Enji knew how to communicate that he doesn't want his son to keep hurting himself to prove himself. With some heavy sprinkle of therapy

He respected his father a lot, and his father didn't respect Rei or Fuyumi- the girls that Touya was closest to. In turn, this gave Touya a misguided sense of misogyny at a young age. He was not a villain from the start, and you kind of miss the point within the story of BNHA if you think so. (This isn't intended to be rude, by the way, I just really love Dabi's character and have thought about this a LOT ^-^ )
