You are such a good friend to us! I have never tried a bathing suit but you just put out your hand and walk us through these scary projects and make, at least, me feel, of course, I can do this. Thanks.
Hi Kim!! Fabulous tutorial on showing how to measure yourself, this really helps.. Also thanks for showing how to grade your pattern.. Swimsuit looks great on you.... 💜💜🧵🧵
Thank you for making this video. I'm cutting out a multi size swim suit pattern. I wasn't sure whether to use my full bust measurement or my high bust. You answered my question. I like how your suit turned out.
This was fantastic, Kim! You have given me the courage to make my own swimwear after sewing for over fifty years! We're not going to Mexico, but are headed to Greece in August, 2020, and I can't wait to sew up several new swimsuits for that trip! Thank you for the wonderful tutorial! Hugs!
Wow, that sounds like a great trip! Santorini is on my bucket list! You will have to share some photos of your makes on your trip! Definitely keep watching this series. I will be teaching a new technique with each swimsuit. We are also going to do some coverups and a men’s board short swimsuit.
Great video Kim. Thank you! I have an oldie Kwik Sew Swim & Action Wear master pattern book. It includes how to sew the items, how to color block, how to customize the pattern. Very cool book. Anyway...I just made a cute swimsuit. It’s a two piece. I altered the bottoms to come up 3” higher, but if I want more sun...I can fold the bottom over onto itself. Super cute. Next on my agenda is a one piece suit. I have a Butterick that I want to try. It’s B6358. I usually have difficulty with the lining matching the edges of the swimwear while sewing on the elastic. This time I basted it together and it made the elastic sewing easier. Can’t wait to see your vacation wardrobe!
Thank you soooooo much. It was so interesting to see you making the adjustments on the paperasse pattern. I hope some day you 'll make the same for pants or jeans. I would be very happy 😀
That’s my new title, “queen of scotch tape”. I do go through it quickly. We found a multi-roll package at Costco that was pretty reasonable. PS - don’t tell my husband how much tape I use- he will cut my supply off, LOL
Love this! You make it look so easy. How do you decide where to make the lengthening line? Could you put some in the upper part and some in the bottom part?
There is a lengthen/shorten line. If you are balanced, you would use that line. I know that I have a long torso and a short rise, so I decided to add the length above my waist. As you get to know your body, you begin to predict the adjustments you make.
Hi, Sandy- I use a swim lining from Joann fabrics. Sometimes, I’ll use power mesh for support or tummy control just on certain pieces, however it didn’t do that this time.
Hi, Debbie- that’s a great question. I would recommend doing a muslin to check it- perhaps just use fabric from a thrifted bathing suit. I feel like problems with that would be rare in a swimsuit because of the high stretch properties of Lycra.
EXCELLENT tutorial on pattern adjustment. So helpful.
You are such a good teacher! You give me hope that I can get better at fitting Thank you.

Wow. Thank You so so much. I have wanted to make a bathing suit for a couple of years now. What kind of fabric do I need for the lining?

😀
Kim, what about the crotch fit...upper leg and crotch width, front to back?
