Thanks, Todd! Do they have only this species or some other members of the genus as well? I love these snakes.

Still very cool! I have no idea about other zoos, but I suppose it's not a common species to find in captivity.

It was the first time I'd ever seen it lift its head and puff out its neck.

A very beautiful snake! I saw a video by LouB747 a few years ago, where he mentioned that they are poisonous as well as venomous - a bad combination! But I think he said that they are not dangerously venomous - he wasn’t too worried about it slithering around his feet in sandals. And you did not appear worried about it when you stroked it - it seems like a very calm snake!

Thanks for watching, sir! That's right they are both poisonous and venomous. Their venom is lethal, but they are usually docile and very reluctant to bite. When encountered, keelbacks either flee or hood up like cobras letting a predator bite their neck with poison glands in it. So, they are really fantastic creatures! And speaking of Lou, he is just fond of wearing sandals in the areas full of venomous critters! lol

@@hitcher1119 Lou keeps promising he'll join me for an Arizona adventure. I think he's afraid of getting a cholla cactus in the foot. 😉
