- Bernice Johnson Reagon, a civil rights activist who co-founded The Freedom Singers and later started the African American vocal ensemble Sweet Honey in the Rock, died Tuesday at the age of 81.
Her daughter, the acclaimed musician Toshi Reagon, shared the news of her mother's passing Wednesday night in a public Facebook post.
It is impossible to separate liberation struggles from song. And in the 1960s - at marches, and in jailhouses - the voice leading those songs was often Bernice Johnson Reagon. Her work as a scholar and activist continued throughout her life, in universities and concert halls, at protests and in houses of worship. -NPR News

May she rest in peace. My condolences to her daughter Toshi and the rest of her family.
In my opinion, Vice President Kamala Harris betrayed President Joe Biden, i.e. stabbed him in the back. Instead of announcing his withdrawal from the Presidential race with Kamala Harris by his side to "pass the torch", he chose to announce his resignation from the race via a letter which was not on Presidential stationary distributed on the Internet. His "Internet Letter of Resignation" speaks volumes about this bizarre "coup d'etat."
It is a slippery slope. First President Joe Biden, next Donald Trump, Pope Francis, Nancy Pelosi...
